BRO, While attending University, I did a research paper about ELVIS. Here's a fun fact: On Oct.2nd 1954 ELVIS was invited to the 'Grand Ole Opry' to perform live. He did his performance of country bluegrass legend's "Blue Moon of Kentucky" at the now abandoned Ryman Auditorium. This song was ELVIS' first "B" side of a record. Long story short, he bombed. Remember those early days and years were very conservative by so-called modern standards. Opry talent manager, Jim Denny, told ELVIS quote, "You better stick to your day job as a truck driver. You'll never make it in the music business". ELVIS was so heartsick at his bad news, he reportedly forgot his suitcase behind. The good news for the 'renegade performer', was ELVIS was invited in 1955 to appear on "The Louisiana Hayride" radio show which helped to propel his single, "I Forgot To Remember" skyward, making it a success on the country charts. Loving your reactions, bro, and wear your new ELVIS shirts when they arrive! THANK YOU!

Elvis has said he wasn’t conscious of the way that he was moving when he performed, that it was naturally in him to react to music that way. He found out that there was such an uproar when he saw himself on TV and they had only shown him from the waist up, but he didn’t stop because he didn’t think he was doing anything wrong.

Now you've seen the movie you know what he went through and what he had to deal with, but even with all that he never gave less than 100% to his performances. We, his fans, loved him (and still do) and we knew that he loved us back. When the fans tore the shirt off his back, he said 'Let them have it, they paid for it'. He used to worry that he would wake up one morning and it would all be gone and that he wouldn't be remembered. Well, here we are almost 46 years since he sadly left us, and we still love him and will never forget him, and he's making new fans (like you) all the time!
We love him because he was so talented, but we love him even more because he was such a kind, caring, humble and generous human being. He never forgot his fans and he never forgot where he came from. Some of today's 'celebrities' could learn from him.
Could I suggest that you watch the short video (6:30) 'Elvis Presley: The King of Kindness' and then maybe 'Elvis: A Generous Heart'. There's a short preview to it ruclips.net/video/wsS_FYNPKX8/видео.html or the longer full documentary which you would probably have to do in more than one part ruclips.net/video/_EWjYFgYpOQ/видео.html
Thank you so, so much for all your Elvis reactions, I love them all and you make me smile all the way through them. You really need to watch him sing Hound Dog also 1956 on the Milton Berle Show with dialogue he really moves in that one in fact at the end of the song his band doesn’t even know that he decides to slow it really down but they go with it & it is just wild after the show parents were complaining they said it was to risqué for their young kids so for a short time he was only shown on TV from the waist up until the young generation was so upset that they gave in and started filming him normally again! I can never get enough of watching him perform that song on the Milton Berle Show it is still so SEXY! I can still imagine the outcry being nothing was ever performed like that the world was still so modest it sent shock waves across television screens parents were outraged & teen age girls went berserk they couldn’t get enough of him tore his clothes right off his back at outdoor concerts but Elvis said he didn’t mind because they bought them he was just so loving & humble to his fans from the beginning & that never changed no matter how famous he became he never forgot where he came from!

    Another fun reaction.
Check out Milton Berle variety show in 1956, in the spring, before this performance, with Elvis doing Hound Dog and make sure to do the long version because there is one where his famous moment at the end where he goes down to half tempo even though it had never been practiced that way with the band, and it almost turns into a burlesque, that's what set off that huge firestorm, but I've seen it where that gets chopped off. Plus the longer one you get to see some back-and-forth banter just like in this one. I know you would love it. It's in black and white from early 1956.

Now that you've seen the Movie here is Hound Dog from the Milton Berle show. This is the show that caused the national outrage and caused him to be filmed from the chest up. ruclips.net/video/WJnVQDA9rHA/видео.html There's also a little comedy skit that followed the performance.

Here again, Sullivan didn't want Elvis on his show, but the other programs like Milton Berle and Steve Allen got such high ratings he was forced to. As usual, Sullivan fell for Elvis like everyone else. On a latter show, when Elvis sings "Peace in the Valley", Sullivan admits that Elvis was one of the nicest most decent performer he had ever had on his show. When Sullivan got into a car wreck just before Elvis was schedule to do his show, "Elvis stops the show and said that his good friend Ed Sullivan need our prayers, and hoped he recovered soon" Elvis had killer manners that always slayed people in show business they didn't expect it. You did it again, man, such a great reaction. Talking about stanky legs, you need to see " Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, / I got a feeling in my body", you won't believe who stole from Elvis. Thanks buddy

ELVIS had to tame it down some on this show. He did the same song on the Milton Berle show with more moves.

My father was a huge fan and used to watch him a lot and listen to him which got me into him from a young age. I love him and I always have and I always will. He definitely was a once in a lifetime special person that we probably will never see the likes up again. What an amazing performance and what a amazing man. The thing is he was wonderful, and had a beautiful heart all the way to the end.

Funny reaction as always. Yeah that look he gives them, and also at the end you pointed out when you said the whole balcony drops, and what he's doing there is so fantastic because somebody had a big outburst and it's just the way he was, he basically stopped to acknowledge them he glanced right at them and flipped his finger that way for a minute to say, I hear you and this is for you. And then he finished with his statement. Can you imagine being 20 or 21 years old and in that situation? It's just insane to even think about, especially back then with all the furor around it because this was after the performance on the Milton Berle variety show from I believe June of that year which set off that racist firestorm.
I strongly encourage you to watch that clip and go for the longer one because there is a shorter one where they censure the part at the end where he slows it down without any warning to his band, they had never practiced it that way, and it goes to half speed and this gives him even more room to do those moves and then hold them and it almost becomes like a burlesque. That's what set off the thing about filming tlhim from the waist up a lot of the time. So what you are seeing on The Ed Sullivan Show here is actually a bit tame compared to the earlier one. It's easy to find on RUclips but go for the longer cut.
Another earlier one that is a blast is when Frank Sinatra finally has him on his show and once again, go for the longer one, because they actually do two performances and the second one is amazing, well they both are actually, but I've seen a version where they cut the very end of the second one off, where they reprise the ending of their duet and say a few words together and then continue singing to wrap it up. Everything about it is amazing, especially considering there was a lot of tension going into it and it was from that point forward that they actually became friends.
Before that, Frank Sinatra had said some pretty nasty things about Elvis, but then at some point when he saw how much money shows like the Ellen Sullivan Show were making from Elvis he changed his mind, plus it didn't hurt that Elvis got to know his daughter and even though there were rumors that they had a thing going on, they actually did not. And so once Frank decided to have him on Frank was nervous and sent Elvis a gift to break the ice, and then Elvis was quite nervous to be on, and you can see it at the beginning, but by the end when they sing together and have this repoire together, you can see all that tension just start melting away and then that's when they became friends going forward. It's a great moment in history with a heartthrob from the older generation giving way to the young one. In the duet, Elvis does a Frank song Witchcraft, while Frank does the early Elvis hit Love Me Tender, except that they do it as a mashup and it is brilliantly arranged.
I would also recommend Polk Salad Annie from that same 1970 Vegas show that you reacted to Suspicious Minds. And I can't remember if you ever acted to In The Ghetto from that same show or not. It's another serious one with a social message and it's fantastic.
Finally, regarding these early Elvis dance moves, what nobody ever seems to point out because we are all just focused on his feet and his knees and his legs and his hips, is that he spends a fair amount of time holding a pose up on his tiptoes in bizarre positions, and this takes so much core strength. Elvis really was quite the athlete.
