In the beginning, I was really attracted to its battery-changing abilities because I was so tired of glued-shut phones. If you had the phone on airplane mode at night and a lot during the day using wifi calling when possible and shutting off every other battery draining ability i.e refresh rate, haptic function, etc, you could get between 2-3 days worth out of a battery before you needed to recharge also thanks to the phones AI-battery saving ability that might have helped. Now, I have discovered that Nokia G22 does discharge quite a lot faster. Nokia has a super saver battery mode (which the other phone did automatically), which means basically that when the phone is idle it won´t use a lot of power and I need to set the phone again on super save each time I use it. So what it ends up to, is that instead of renewing the battery 1 time more so I can fully appreciate the full life of the phone, I will instead end up buying and changing the battery 2-3 times because the battery-saving software is not good enough. After all, the business wants to earn more on battery sales. Fairphone is probably the only one that fixed the battery-saving issue, but they charge a lot also. In the end, I want a phone that I can fully use during its lifetime with decent interchangeable batteries, or new batteries that will outlive the phone's lifetime ( maybe in 5-10 years). The industry is going the wrong way with its glued shut phones.
i would also like a phone to physically last 10+ years, but with an ability to install custom OS's to keep it up to date and secure. Similar to normal computers. The batteries always do fade/die though, so having an easy replaceable battery is important to me too. Only feature/dumb phones have that ease.
It’s such a shame that Nokia branded devices might not be produced from next year. Unfortunately HMD global is in major debt with FIH. For those of you who don’t know, that’s the R&D and project subsidiary of Foxconn. FIH is a major investor in HMD and have had to write of debt relating to production, funding and parts. They have cited is increasing difficult for them to receive payments and has entered a phase to decide if they will file to recover assets and contractual payments, or work with HMD as a going concern. So all you Nokia fans, brace yourselves. It’s very likely they will fold if increasing targets are missed or not met.
Yes, we read about this on the NokiaMob website. Such a shame, but as customers who bought Nokia devices after the HMD Global relaunch, we are unlikely to buy many more.
Repairability is a great thing. But do they still cripple their phones? I had a 3.1 back in 2018/19 which started well, but became unusable after about half a year because Nokia decided to kill * all * apps running in the background. It became unusable, basically e-waste after less than a year.
Sadly the HMD Global Nokia phones have been disappointing through the years. a lot of existing customers will not be upgrading to a new Nokia according to some market research.
Guys i used two apps 1. Ampere 2. Accubattery to check the battery and it says its 3600Mah max capacity. And i bought it brand new?😢 So either i have been scammed or its a high probability everyones been scammed. Although i havent opened it yet to view the back. Any ideas on how to verify further without opening it? As i dont want to reduce the resell value?
Extremely bad overheating on charging, overheating on calls, bugs, battery discharge rapidly avoid this phone, stops all the time although i bought it in june 2024, maybe a factory problem, but hmd assistance are not reactive at all leaving me without a phone for repair instead of replacing it, camera is bad moves to focus never seen such a bad performance and experience, the voice not top...avoid it
How can you not recommend this phone? Like are you standing from a flagship point of view (which is really a not clever thing on you) or from a budget longevity point of view? This is a highly recommended phone basic users. When is the last time you saw a user-repairable phone? This is a revolutionary phone taking the planned obsolescence greed.
I have one, its freaking trash. Slow sluggish, extremely prone to crashing and there is nothing being done to address these issues. What good is repairability if it gets binned way before it ever gets repaired? Also to the repairability, its heavily clipped together plastic trash and the battery is glued in. The only thing this has going for it is the option to repair, which is mute because nobody in their right mind will use it for long enough so repairs are warranted. This is nothing but marketing BS and i admit, i fell for it. But never again, Nokia is dead.
We actually have similar feelings here. Virtue signalling about repairability doesn't solve the problem if users don't want to repair this sub-par phone.
This is an awful phone. Worst IPS screen I've seen in a while. It does technically have a 90Hz refresh rate, but the CPU is so bad that the phone lags too much for it to be useful. The camera is a potato. You'd be better off getting a used Galaxy A70. It's older, but It costs less and it's a much better phone in every measurable way. A Huawei Mate 10/Mate 10 Pro are also really good options.
Sad that Nokia are still struggling to keep devices upto date, thanks for the summary :)
Very sad indeed. Thanks for watching!
Good to know indeed!

Your weekend shares are practically my favorite. I look forward to them
Glad you like them!
Thank you for sharing the video on how to switch between three-button navigation and gesture navigation
Glad it was helpful!
The camera performance and selfie capabilities on the G seem promising Can't wait to see the samples in the video
For a potato, not bad.
This is navigated right into my Head
👍
The Nokia G seems to have convenient data roaming settings Appreciate the tutorial on how to switch it on/off
They work
The setup tutorial is super helpful for new users like me
Glad you think so!
Software updates are important, glad to know that Nokia provides them for the G
Not very well
Why on earth do you think that when it's not the case ...they are not up to date with updates or android updates...wake up and smell the coffee 😮
Indeed. @PubgOREST obviously didn't watch the review ...
The build and design of this phone look really sleek and modern
Unapologetically plastic.
Battery life is crucial for me, so I'm glad to hear it's decent on the Nokia G
It is
It's great to see that the performance is good, especially for an affordable smartphone
Decent.
You mentioned there were better affordable smart phones if the focus was on the camera. Do you have any specific recommendations?
Good job bro on the review!
Thanks for watching! 🙏
You haven't covered battery replacement options.

So camera is pretty good, and there's a lot of space like 2000gb.
All the space
Absolutely Attractive 4 sure
👍
Does it have a compass?
Super🎯extraordinary mate
Many thanks
Great video , How are you doing? ✌
All good
Is there a better option for an easily repairable phone?
The Fairphone devices are easier (and cheaper) to repair and offer better and more timely software updates.
Is the Fairphone available in the US yet?

Worst thing about this phone is the screen: dull, slow and draggy. A 720 screen in 2023? Really? Pity you can't change that yourself!
Yeah I need a SOMOLED at least, would be a downgrade from my current cheap phone :(
@user-ww9yw4zi8m
Wtf is an SOMOLED
Bravo 🎅 👧 👷

Based on the latest info tracker, G22 gets June 2023 security update
Having just checked on the device itself we are up to date on the April 2023 security patch. HMD Global Nokia are not being truthful about updates.
I had 3 updates within 10days. Was getting annoyed

Don't buy it , you lose money
It is really a pity to recommend Chinese brands in this video!
Sadly HMD Nokia have made a disappointing device.
