I demo'd them recently and decided it was good but not for me. I'm a midbass guy and it's very shy. When I heard they had 4 microplanars and that the IEM was called the 'Brain Dance' I was hoping for it to more or less be tuned like the Estrella with better drivers but it was very relaxed in general. I love the aesthetics though, they nailed that part.
I don't understand your star system. You said this wasn't for you, listed 3 drawbacks, and you preferred the other 2 sets in the comparison section, but then gave this 4 stars, essentially 8/10
The star rating system is more of a rough guideline, covering tone and technical performance while also factoring in design, accessories, and price. I gave it a 4, which means it’s good, that's how I feel about it. 4.5 would be excellent. This IEM has a lot going for it: great sub-bass, textured mid-bass thump, clear and transparent mids, precise and shimmery treble, and amazing transients. It’s very resolving. In terms of detail and separation, I would give it a 4.5 there. The accessories are also top-notch. Personally, I’d like a bit more fullness in the bass and a touch less treble, but I think this tuning will appeal to many people.
It doesn’t sound congested, more on the slightly intimate side and the choice of ear tips plays a big role in this. I think the DUNU S&S tips work best in this case.
Hey Axel, thanks for the comprehensive and prompt review! I had a couple questions I'm hoping you can answer because I'm considering finalizing on the BD. For the sense of speed, is there anything else that competes in this price range? What would be the evolution or step up from the Dunu in your opinion?
Hey! I don't think anything beats the speed of the BD in this price range. It's really solid in that area. There's the Moondrop Meteor with 4 micro planars, but I haven't heard it. If you're looking to upgrade, it depends on what you're after since the BD is already pretty competitive. You could go for something with a different tuning or better technicalities, but nothing quite like the BD, in my opinion. I love the Glacier-it's a step up. There are other IEMs between the Glacier and BD with different tunings and detail levels.
How is the BD resolution and bass&high texture compared to IE600? (I have S12 Pro and Z5 and i relly like them) And which one worth getting? (iE600 is one sale for 499$ now) For electronic and Indie/Alternative Rock music?
The level of detail is pretty close, but the IE600 has a bit more detail and is more V-shaped more bass and treble. The treble is a bit intense on the IE600 for me. Vocals are better on the DK3001 BD, and I prefer that one overall. I’d just add an impedance adapter.
So, I know you are a big fan of the Glacier. The squig for the Brain Dance appears to be just a flattened version of the Glacier tuning (less bass, less treble, and more mids). Is that a fair assessment?
Let me start by saying that the DK3001 BD is a solid IEM that’s likely to appeal to a lot of people. I definitely recommend watching the full video. I gave it 4 stars out of 5. That's a high rating. It’s a great IEM that does a lot of things really well and has excellent detail and clarity for the price. The DK3001 BD has less bass and upper mid-range than the Glacier, but more lower mid-range and upper treble. For my personal taste, though, the mid-bass is a little on the lean side, so some male vocals and instruments can sound a bit lean, and the impact feels light. I also wish the treble was a little more relaxed for longer listening sessions and better timbre. The Glacier, for example, has way more bass, giving it a fuller sound and a more balanced upper mid-range. It sounds spacious as well. The DK3001 BD sounds brighter. At the end of the day, it’s all about personal preference. Both IEMs sound great.
@@Gizaudio Thanks. I have been considering the Glacier, but I was intrigued with the DK 3001 BD when I saw your video. Still thinking I will get the Glacier, but the DK 3001 BD will be an option for the future.
I prefer the DUNU DK-3001 BD, but I’d add an impedance adapter to boost the bass. The U4s is kind of like the DUNU SA6 MK II but with better bass and more detail.
So, should I take it to mean that the DK3001BD has a bit of a flat but overall sound, like a jack that fits a lot of styles? If you don't have any particular preferences, it's quite versatile.
It has a slight V-shaped tuning rather than being flat, emphasizing the sub-bass and upper treble. It has great detail and separation, with plenty of shimmer and sparkle in the treble. It’s definitely a fun and engaging listen that excels in many areas and not flat.
I have the SA6 Ultras, they are great! Only downside is certain tips will stick in your ears due to the nozzle, and that’s a hassle but yeah one of the best BA bass you can find, for sure. 3001BD seems like they sound like the Dunu Mirai’s, which I have, and I think they are great. A detail monster. 😊
Deciding between this and a used Monarch MK2 about the same price. In terms of resolutiin and images separation, is Dunu close to monarch? Will i be giving up a lot by going with Dunu
As much as I wanted this set, mainly to go with the Hiby R4 look, it's too expensive for what it is, IMHO. It is an interesting configuration, though, so kudos to DUNU for that. 💯
dam it, why gave them a gamer look when they sound like that, it makes no sense, when they turn off the the mids in iems it makes the sound kind of hallow.😢
500$ for this?? noooo.. the SA6 series is far superior I believe... from the impression you gave me this is not a good shot for Dunu, sorry for this - and thanks for the video!

No mid bass, no thanks. For my library I don’t quite get why they continue to do this at 150hz. There’s a whole 150 extra hz there for the bass that is missing and just doesnt make it sound natural imo
6.4mm nozzles, and no comment from the reviewer? That's a deal breaker for most actual human beings. I don't care how it sounds, if it can't fit in my ears.
The fact that he included the info is good enough, what do you want from him? To ask 10/20/100 people to give opinion about the feeling when wearing the iem? Smh
It’ll be sad to see you go. Dave does great reviews, but most of them are still in POV format. Personally, I find the POV style easier and it lets you focus more on the IEM and the graphs.

Vs the studio 4 for female vocals?
The Studio 4 has a more neutral female vocals, while the female vocals on the DUNU DK-3001 BD feel airier.
By the looks and graph. It seems Dunu really needs Timmy help again
😅
Very surprised to hear that the midrange stage sound congested
It doesn’t sound congested, more on the slightly intimate side and the choice of ear tips plays a big role in this. I think the DUNU S&S tips work best in this case.
Ugh...I really wanted to like these. The lack of midbass and head-stage would be an issue for me. Thanks for saving me $500!
You’re welcome! Give it a listen if you get the chance, you might end up liking it.
Really excited to try these out at CanJam this weekend!
Let me know what you think if you give it a listen.
Bummer! Love the driver configuration! Praying they will do it again with more midbass someday.
Thanks for watching.

I LOVE my hiby r4. You have the evangelion one or the original?
@jonathanflannery8847 Evangelion in all it's purple glory
@jamesberryman9893 sweet I have the all black one but I envy the evangelion edition!
@jonathanflannery8847 The all black is super sweet as well!
I bet it would look amazing with the R4!
Thanks very good review. I like the look of these even that I think the design won't be for everyone.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
How are they compared to the mega5?
Completely different tuning. Mega5est has that meta tuning and more bass. DUNU DK-3001 BD is more resolving.
Kima 2 next? 😊😊
Soon. A great IEM 👍
Dunu DK-3001 BD, Dunu SA6 Mk2, Elysian Pilgrim, FiiO FH9, FiiO FX15. Where is the bass and detail better?
How are the dusk and b3 compared to the pilgrim tech wise?
sennheiser hd650, 600, and 700 all has nice price for their sound, arguably best for price
The Pilgrim is noticeably more detailed than the Blessing 3, though the Blessing 3 is still a highly detailed IEM in its own right.
Thanks for your review. I am considering to upgrade my dk3001 pro to “BD” or SA6 mk2. The soundstage of “Pro” quite small around a head only.
You’re welcome! I think the soundstage on the DK-3001 BD is pretty similar, but the SA6 MK II has an impressive soundstage.
The treble are similar to the first blessing 2
The DK-3001 BD has more upper treble.
Mid-bass tuck and price make this one a no-go for me. They look super nice though, and there will be a lot of people that like the sound signature.
Yeah, I think they look great, and I’m sure they’ll appeal to a lot of people. Personally, I prefer fuller bass.
Is it downgrade from dunu sa6 est?
No.
Hi man, any review for tangzu new iem? bajie and yu xuanji maybe?
I will check them out.
The at 3 khz is too low and drifts away the 2khz too if you add the mid bass tack you end up ..
What do you mean?
This is a new meta kinda tuning w mid-bass scoop why??? Could have been a killer (close to og oracle)
i recommend to just try some first on audio stores, so that you know what to compare
example how different this from that, is easier to give example
It's a slight V-shaped tuning with some emphasis on the sub-bass and the upper treble.
@@Gizaudioyes…actually I’m going to buy it. Reminds me of the og galaxy buds.
Excellent job👍👍
Thanks!

So far I'm deciding between moondrop dusk and hype 4
I mostly listen to heavy metal stuff, doesn't look like my jam.

Great review but definitely not my preferred tuning style. Way too much uppers for my treble sensitive ears. Among other problems too.

To mee it looks like Dunu wants to Moondrop/nothing, the style inspirations are obvious
I think it’s inspired by the theme of the game Cyberpunk. That’s where the term "braindance" comes from, if I’m not mistaken.
This sounds, like a miss for Dunu
I think it’ll appeal to a lot of people. I just wish the bass was a bit fuller and the treble slightly toned down. Overall, it’s a solid set.
You don't recommend it for people who like bass....... so not for music listeners. 😂😂4 stars?
LOL, I meant for those who love punchy bass and a strong mid-bass slam. I explained the rating in the video.
