I hold Rorty in the highest regard. Therefore, I am grateful that he no longer has to witness how his hope for a more inclusivist, tolerant, and solidaristic society seems to be turning into the absolute opposite. I believe he would have found the current worldwide resurgence of authoritarianism and totalitarianism deeply disappointing (and so do I).

twaddle by a 90s era sophist

The vulgar preconception with sophists, based in non historical Plato version about them. Protagoras, Gorgias, Isocrates were great thinkers and philosophers.

Chances are you find Rorty to be 'twaddle' because either (1) you haven't actually familiarised yourself with his work and what he really says, or (2) you're afraid of his conclusions but can't argue against them, so you feel the need to ridicule him.

In one book here on RUclips called "Headbuttressia," he tries to convince me that I'm in Hell as a test upon me to see what I would do.

Brilliant thinker, terrible teacher of undergrads, wholly uninspiring. So many researchers detest teaching, at least that was my experience in natural philosophy in the academy.
