    I don't think I've ever used guardbreaks against Kahlt, even in tournaments. Honestly if you're relying on guardbreaks for your Kahlt matchups, good Kahlt players are going to fuck you up.

      tbh I see it as a legit strat. condition opponent to your gb, then feint gb to bait out their avoid move. easy avoid for wf and just mix that sequence.

    dont have a problem with classes getting buffed at all, I just want to say how awesome the decks look in bolver plus. Every single deck showed from plus in this video have looked so satisfying aesthically

      I think it made sense in the early days of absolver before patches made kahlt a shell of its former self, but the change definitely expands the brain when fighting blue lads!

      I think that kahlt has been approached only one way by the player base for a long time which is essentially “use guard breaks” and I think that as you approach the skill ceiling you start understanding all the ways kahlt just gets fucked and then you throw your guard breaks out anyway

    I'm curious, is Absolver+ the new standard, or is it mostly restricted to organized fights? I've been one of the only kahlt mains in EU since forever and I like what I've been reading and seeing.

      It's "standard" in that it's what a lot of the more competitive players and some of the hobbyists are playing these days, but yes you're correct it's essentially organized fights. You ideally want to find someone to fight and take it to private CTs
      it's VERY looked down upon to go into CTs publicly with it, as it ruins the experience for vanilla players. BUT, with the mod, every six months a tournament is held in both EU and NA a weekend apart.
      So honestly, as far as standards go, it's the tournament standard since the only people putting on tournaments are sweaters. Great mod though! Highly recommend you join the absolver academy discord or the Jade festival discord and start asking for some spars! Plenty of EU blood in there if I recall.

    If find you are still missing the fact that khalts defensive ability is the easiest to hit and trigger effectifly in the game. WF, Fors., drunken and fajing still need to coordinate their defensive abilities. Khalt just toggles their left joystick at anydirection.

      Yeah, but even if they correctly absorb, they still aren't guaranteed a confirm. They can still be punished after absorbing. They're the only class like that. If they absorb a front kick and then try to temple knock, all I need to do is duck as a windfall and then suddenly the 140 ghost health becomes 140 + confirm real damage.
      By virtue of the other styles having to make a more "correct" choice (directional, etc) they get a bigger reward, usually a confirm.

    This is why I use strafe kahlt. but its really limiting to use strafe as openers.

      That's part of the design choice to let kahlt absorb breakers for sure!
      Without it, kahlt decks don't get to build as freely as other classes, so you end up seeing a lot of strafe kahlt as a necessity to even SURVIVE as a kahlt in vanilla.

    Only thing I would add is a high level Kahlt is never going to spam a light after an Absorb. They might block, absorb again or resilience so they can get closer to level 3 and Absorb the GB anyway on vanilla. They are also gonna feint and absorb that EQ. I wish resilience levels were tweaked instead but I enjoy the content and can't afford a PC anyway so 🤣🤣

      Kahlt launches lights out of absorb all the time in my experience tho?? But double absorbing is so risky because one hit and you just got hit basically three times.

      @@Morklympious dude I would love it. I wouldn't ever touch Vanilla again if I did. I'd be WAY too busy learning again. Whenever I run Kahlt I usually double up on on Absorb abilities so I can secure a lvl 2 after and possibly gamble for another absorb for lvl 3.

      @@yopesh11 Like I think that was the idea for sure. Kahlt should be able to sit at the table with the other styles while also being able to retain its deckbuilding freedom.
      The other thing this change does is make shield an actual A-tier power. Lights no longer phase anyone running shield which is SUCH a cool thing. And now kahlt gets to start ignoring 13-15f moves after an absorb when running shield. Pretty beautiful tbh!!

    I literally saw all khalts HAVE to run avoiding or quick moves, and still get shit, do people just think “absord no have direction absorb timing only”? If that’s the case, forsaken Can parry all attacks, and gets their turn back plus a confirmed 12 frame move at least, but that’s clearly more balanced than having to stand there and take guard pressure even though you successfully did what your style is supposed to

    As a kahlt master (imo) kahlt is an expression of sheer skill and control; letting it absorb guardbreaks only diminishes its value by giving it to any average joe. In summary, you’ve improved what was not meant to be improved, this has enhanced the worse parts of this game but fortunately that’s an “improvement” but it’s also why I don’t play on pc 😎

    having been picked up a boxing deck and picking up Kahlt with it a long while ago. Kahlt. is ASS.
    All the AI that i beat VERY EASILY with windfall. have me losing alot more health than i would or have me outright dying. so people saying that kahlt is good or dosnt need a buff. have EGO's. its not about the real fact that its "good" its about the fact kahlt is an omni directional option for new players. they feel like an "easy" style doesn't deserve to be better because they aren't bad players who use cheese easy way out options. and its lame.
    i dont get the benefit of absolver+ since im on PS4. but this to me is a welcome change. i would love to not have to use body blow a dodge move, or the overhand/haymaker an armor move. to beat even mid stage AI or marked ones. and ESPECIALLY not players. Kahlt amplifies the aspects and makes it easier to build a boxing deck. and being a big fan of the sport. i hate that kahlt sucks. and im glad absolver+ further promotes and helps the boxing style.

    So I waited to see if you’d touch on the Kahlts that are just fine plebdodgin gbs to take their turn back. The good ones I’ve fought have all destroyed me not even needing an avoid move because it doesn’t matter what stance you’re in you can always dodge at the push of a button. Gbs are not an issue for any Kahlt that’s good at the game.
    My issue with gbs not breaking Kahlt stems from the age old rules for rock, paper, scissors. Everyone has a hard counter to their defensive action so I’ve always found it unnecessary to take away the only counter to an absorb. That would be like making Windfall avoid all high/low attacks with one direction of the analog stick.
    Kahlt already doesn’t care how or where your attack is landing or even the “timing” as vague of an answer that is. Saying “just use timing” is just as dull as saying just be better than your opponent. If it was nailed down to a practice of how many frames of startup you should use as frame traps then that would make some sense. Just saying “timing” is gonna go over anyones head just getting into the game, or trying to get better.
    I also get it’s for the comp scene so it really doesn’t bother me none cause I only fight on vanilla, so more power to ya. Just wanted to get my thoughts out on the matter as I’m not coming from a place of “gbs are my only way to fight Kahlt” but “gbs aren’t event that great against Kahlt but it’s a mix tool when you can condition them to absorb and punish accordingly if you’re fast enough because if they’re good enough a properly timed absorb will cover the fast option and leave the Kahlt with plenty of time to dodge the gb still.”

      So I think we may just fundamentally disagree here, because in my experience, pleb dodging is not a guarantee for your turn back, and often ends up eating a lot of stamina in the process.
      GB's "Aren't an issue" for kahlts that are good at the game usually because the way I see them take their turn back is with something like tetsuzanko, tbh. Which just isn't... competitively interesting? It sucks that like, the table stakes for being "good" are relegated to running tetsu because I don't think I agree that many kahlts have a successful record of plebdodging.
      But you mentioned that everyone has a hard counter to their defensive and I think I disagree here too. Everyone only has soft counterplay. windfalls have directions but they always at least have a defensive option that is "good" for them, you know? Like a kahlt doesn't have that. because even if pleb dodging happens, they lose *so much* stamina. I think there is still a counter to kahlt, and it's enumerated in timing and mid string defensives. it's forcing people to play against kahlt in an actually engaging way. That might straight up just be a difference of opinion in what everyone considers "fun", but It's what we godt so far!
      Regarding timing, Kahlt DOES care about the timing though, a following up a move with a 12f versus a 20f is a world of difference that a kahlt MUST account for. in my usage of that advice, "just use timing" is more about a deckbuilding philosophy. Kahlt, more than almost any other class must be battled with differences in timing BECAUSE they don't have to worry about the direction. And yeah, I don't disagree that vague advice isn't suited for beginners, but I also think that beginners that try to start out on plus are either already adept at learning new concepts or they're already in too deep and they're confused by myriad other things.
      And yeah, it's a comp scene thing. I get your point and I get what you're saying. Slow moves can still be mix tools the same way guard breaks are but I think I just disagree that manual dodge is a very viable way to try to take your turn back x.x

      @@Morklympious So what I mean by hard counters goes back to rock, paper, scissors. It’s the basis of just about any good fighting game. Windfall, mid/low attacks beats a duck avoid. Horizontals beat side avoids. High/mids beat jumps. Hard counter meaning you condition the player to throw rock so you beat it with paper. The player makes a mistake and side avoids, or you make them make that mistake, and you can set up a guaranteed horizontal option to punish them for their mistake. Forsaken, you condition them to parry one side, and you punish them by attacking from the other. Fae/Stagger, similar principles apply. Here we can agree on that each style has a hard counter/punish to their defensive. Kahlt, you condition them to absorb and to punish that you’d use a gb. No left/right/high/low mixups to worry about. Having them absorb gbs is like the absorb being “rock” and you throwing “paper,” but at worst you get punished instead.
      So having Kahlt only worry about getting hit from pressing after a mistimed absorb or getting stuffed out of other attacks, or whatever punish the player manages to land is just dull to me. Mainly because it’s incredibly inconsistent when the Kahlt’s buffered absorbs work and when they don’t making it tempting to attack with timing to hit as their absorb ends, which should hit them, but doesn’t as they manage to absorb again. Also the absorb animation is terribly inconsistent. Sometimes it’s longer making it look like they absorbed way to early and your attack should hit them but they get the absorb anyway and punish you instead. Or they’ll be glowing blue in full absorb and get hit regardless of what looked like a well timed absorb which makes no sense.
      The reason I mention pleb dodging is because I’ve seen it work well enough that the loss of stamina is irrelevant when they can back out of the situation or just absorb and take their turn back if you try to keep the pressure on. It still keeps the pace of the fight pretty high risk for both player in that engagement. I’m not here to change minds or agree on anything. Just wanted to share the thought in case it wasn’t considered seeing as the topic is open for discussion. I know it’s been tested and that was the finally verdict the grand masters have decided on so I look forward to how it plays out in the tourneys to come.
