Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through RUclips videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

But on the same token, Americans can't seem to pronounce the T mid-word. So when you try and say "International", it comes out as "Inner National"
Yeah that’s true. I was also going to say that various UK English dialects (besides some southern ones aswell as others) do the same thing, but drop the R (or other letters) at the end, or in the middle and the end. For example Better Call Saul would be “Beh’ ahh’ Call Saul” or something lol
You could smoke indoors then, remember this series is pretty old! When I started working in 1997, I used to smoke at my desk while typing ☺️
I think they stopped doing that at my work in about 2002 ish, but smoking indoors in public places wasn't formally banned until 2007 in England
It's not Dawn's boyfriend from the office but he is in the UK Office as one of the warehouse staff, he's the one they fire in episode 1 or 2. And sixth form means she's 16-18 years old.
Has he passed his forklift drivers test? He gives the test!

14:08 Yeah, this episode was in 2003 the year before the smoking in public places law was implemented in 2004 in the UK.
I'm not Britsh but 6th form is the final 2 years of secondary education. So she's basically 11th or 12th grade (16-18 year old) in the US and the joke is that while legal (16 being the age of consent) Mark comes off as creepy to himself and his peers for having a hook up with a teenager that young.
Findus crispy pancakes were a treat when they first came out, but like fray bentos pies now youre lucky if you find any meat in them now lol
That's prob because the meat in them was horse with a cows passport. 😂 when i first discovered that I was mild traumatised at having been tricked into eating something that we don't traditionally consider a food source in modern day Britain.
Peep show is literally my favourite show of all time! You’ve no idea what’s in store for you 😂 This is only the start of it. It’s gets soooo funny! The ridiculous situations these characters end up in. You’re lucky. There was often a year or two in between seasons and considering it was only 6 episodes it was a long wait lol. Also fun fact….If you’ve seen the borrowers with John Goodman. Well Arriety in that is the same actress as Valarie 🤣

Your telling me you offered people water and they drank it 😂 I love how awkward this is because it's similar than we all have done, I got annoyed hosting a party and telling someone they could do lines off my glass cutting board, I didn't know they took it to the bathroom and left it next to the toilet on the floor so I got annoyed and threw it out not wanting to even wash it after being near a toilet 😂 I made sure I had an old 'now that's what I call' cd case on hand

I don't know about UK but smoking indoors in a bar in Finland was still allowed 2004 but banned 2005. There were ventilated smoking boxes after that. My early bar years 2002-2004 was a smokefilled hellhole for us non-smokers. I mainly went to see live metal music. I guess you get used to it while drunk.
