What an awesome dinner to have at World of Volvo! I too, wonder what that blue color was on that EC40 with cut aways on display ....looks like a great trip! I hope to visit there someday in the future ♥
@@thom-lov Definitely on my must see list when I finally get to Sweden! It's funny because I'm already missing having a Volvo...not that I don't love my Mini Clubman....made me realize what a truly connected to the road drive is missing in most Volvo models...but Volvo is "home" to me...been looking at a couple of used XC70's at my dealer....maybe if they give me a good trade in value for the Mini I'll pull the trigger....🤷♂
@@Salarygirl_uk the EX40 and EC40 are already with first customers here in The Netherlands. Also other EU countries. Big chance you'll see them on UK roads prior to november as well
Love the sand dune beige, and the blue - I guess you actually filmed the whole colour palette on display at 6:23... that amazing blue is among those colours, but I cannot read the name... ;) Gorgeous anyway! Thanks for the vid, trip and info.
Thanks!! The color in question was not in that small color lineup on display. I asked all Volvo product experts present there and they also had no clue. This is a real mystery color, haha! Thanks for watching 😊
@@thom-lov Oh, always a pleasure, thanks for answering and giving further details 😊 - what a pity still, blues are usually my favourite shades, and this one looks so good on the Volvo lines, not too pale, not to dark, not boring nor too vibrant, so Volvo should call it "mystery blue" if it ever hits the market one fine day... that will hopefully bring interiour colours/upholsteries back that I miss, like cranberry red, espresso brown, pine green, a nordic shade of blue... I like shades of grey on the outside of a car, but not inside. My V40 used to have a blueish off-white moonlight exteriour colour, way ahead of its time, with a sand and espresso brown interiour, très chic like a Dior handbag, and my dad's 244 DL was dark orange with brown corduroy upholstery in the 70ies. Funky! Individualizing has a hard time these days unfortunately. Way to go, Thom! 😊 Thanks again!
Until the interior gets updated like the EC30/90, it doesn’t feel like a new or updated model. Its Volvo selling out old inventory of fossil fueled cars. Understandable, but still. I would never buy this as a new car in 2024, lots better more modern options.
This is amazing good car. what is far behind the competitors eg id 7 or Mustang Mach e is the travel assist. if the Volvo doesn’t support even automatic speed settings for the adaptive ( but sadly not predictive) cruise control from the lousy traffic sign recognition, Volvo Germany always says, sorry it’s the fault of Google😝, the competitors above allows handless automatic steering on 95% on the German Autobahn certified and approved by German Kraftfahrbundesamt.
On a side note, I got the word this week-- no EX30 for the US until the Belgian plant is producing. I made the right decision to lease a Polestar 2 earlier this month.
Not a good start of EX40. We got the car, very nice car, but with a big bug! Sometimes the car refuses to shift gears (D/R). An update is on its way (v3.1.10)
@@thom-lov Ha3 yes EX90's 🤭 I look forward to your review of the new EC40 & EX40 to know whether or not Volvo has fixed the vibration problem in your ex-C40, as well as some of your other criticisms 🤔😁
I Agree i was suprised they didnt upgrade dash and interior with electrification i simply wont buy untill a new and proper upgrade is produced. Looks like half assing it to me andrew🤔
Hey Thom, thanks for the video! How about vibrations in steering wheel? Still there in E(C/X) 40? I wonder for the black trim, everything nicely blacked out, and then the standard red backlights 😮
Thanks Timo! NO VIBRATIONS!! It’s a miracle. 😉 Maybe some ‘Smokey’ wrap can make those red taillights a bit more appealing. Though this package as standard looks really badass in real, haha! Cheers
@@thom-lov i hope they know about the product lifecycles and in my book this one is declining. They should improve interior if they want to increase growth of c40 lineup. Such a nice exterior, i went for a tesla but considered this one 1000 times.
@@saadchowdhury7672 I totally agree. They could have introduced the display they have in the EC30 with some slight interior changes to give it a more competitive and fresh look. Compared to other EVs on the market at this price range the display is lacking. I'm certainly not interested in something as big as what's in a Tesla though, which I think is overwhelming and really designed to save cost then provide a better experience.
@@accountability2000 they are, tesla is known for that even getting rid of indicator stocks lol. But i agree, why not the polestar 2 like dashboard where the opacity looks nice unlike the dark theme in xc40 lineup? Also, i would have purchased ec40 had they had a display like ex30. Looks so clean setup! Summary: Lovely car, needs a interior refresh badly.

It really was! As for that blue color, we don’t know yet, haha! A must see when in GTB/Sweden 😊 cheers!!
The blue color looks very much like mussel blue (older xc60 color)… the ex40 black looks very purposeful, good looking car. God job, Thom.
Could the colour be the older Volvo Orinoco blue?
@RullarR good one! It does look very similar

Great review, thanks. I wonder why the DRL looks different in the video? At 1:30 they pulsate, and in the showroom at 5:10 they burn steadily.
Thanks! That’s the camera just not capturing these kind of lights ‘properly’. 😊
Beautiful cars and a very nice review thanks
Thanks! 😊
Another excellent video ❤️
Thanks so much! 😊
Nice tour Thom...(Go Sox). Stay safe, Tim

Pretty interesting this blueish EC40 - hope Polestar’s color Electric will come to the EC40 anytime soon.
Yeah still not sure what color that is. Perhaps a one off or something.

Hearing rumors that Volvo will release an XC90 facelift/refresh this summer already, is this something you can corroborate?
Yep that’s a pretty firm rumor actually. However for timing I’m expecting this facelift next year with my26. Exciting! 😄
Hi Thom, at the 10:04 mark, there were 2 larger cars next to the white EC30 (a grey & a dark blue car); were they EC90's or something else?
EC90 would be very cool! But, it are 2 EX90’s 😉

@@thom-lov Yes 😂 Come on, Volvo! Get this fixed.
Remember the C30? I wish Volvo brought it back in an electric version.
That be great!
Why do volvo keep that tiny screen with ventilation on both sides instead of opting for a bigger screen?? It's stupid.
EC40 could be the best had it had bit bigger display! Interior Looks outdated tbh.
Yep that would be a very interesting facelift! I wonder if they consider doing that or just keep it as is until the next gen
