- "Back to Afrika" was inspired by a realization i had while chatting with some youths in Trinidad about a shooting that happened in the neighborhood where i was living at the time. After hearing the hate and anger in these youths' voices, it shook me, it terrified me to know that this is the emotion in the hearts of our future generation.
And i couldn't help but ask myself why... why is this? After thinking long and hard, and analyzing the community, i concluded, the reason why the youths are like this now, its because we have let go of our culture, our values, and drifted to a more modern world that focuses on a physical world, instead of an emotional, spiritual, and cultural world. We need to get back to our roots, we need to get back to Afrika where love and unity reigned... not Africa with a C as the modern spelling, but the original, AFRIKA."-- A#keem
