Hey! As a fellow Hard Control player, it helps your turns a lot if you play your card draw effects like friends before doing anything else for the turn. Having the most info possible before you make a decision helps out with consistency.
Big facts
I play a lot of Mtg, but Lorcana seems really interesting to get into. Without access to any cards, I can at least live vicariously through videos such as yours. :) Good game! Made me even more exciting to play and brew when cards become more available!
I mean, the skipped quests at the beginning cost the aggro deck. If he just quests for 3 after shifting and then quested in the midgame instead of trading down the board he wins like turn 7.

@@AceofShadows17the problem with that line of thinking is that if you give the control deck time and don’t quest their chance to win goes up the longer the game goes. He just didn’t know the role he was playing on the matchup
Agreed, he backed off from a possible Rafiki but then dumped his hand into a Be Prepaired. He also should have sung whole new world at the end instead of trading his ariel into elsa, smash, swords, or tink removes the elsa. If you're playing amber/steel into this never have more than 4 characters in play and make your opponent challenge you, don't fight, always quest, only exception being hook and eric.
@@AceofShadows17makes no sense though because he had rapunzel in hand to heal and 1 rafiki won’t kill.
As a Magic player, I absolutely love playing Control decks, and seeing Brooms and Cauldron reminds me a lot of Azorious Devious Coverup control in Magic.
I'm still learning the ropes with Lorcana right now, but I feel that casting a Whole New World(Wheel of Fortune in Magic) as the Steelstong deck is a TRAP when playing up against Control; Giving the Control player a new clutch of cards while you're down 5 mana to cast it just puts you way too far back on tempo, especially when control has Cauldron to smooth out their draws already. As far as I can see, Steeslsong has so much more explosive card draw in Rockstar Stitch and Rapunzel that you may not need to even play New World to refill your hand.
Just as me being an outside observer, I feel like playing the second New World(if not already the first one) sealed your fate against Control. If you didn't play New World at all and just kept trying to setup explosive draws with Rockstar and Rapunzel, this would've been a much easier win for Steelsong. I know it's easier said than done, but those New Worlds just ended up putting the Control player wayyy ahead

My kids and I play a lot of games together, from Pokemon or Catan to Warhammer and DnD, but we just bought our first Lorcana cards last week. Got te two Floodborn starters and a few boosters, pulled an Enchanted from one of the boosters now we're fully down the rabbit hole.
Only found your channel today but I really enjoyed the game and the format, subbed and eager for more Lorcana.
Very fun matchup to watch! Amber/Steel had a fast start but Ruby/Amethyst picked away at them!

That was so enjoyable to watch haha. Majority of my LGS is trying to run this combo and I rarely get the chance to watch it go against one another.

Hello! My son and I picked up our first boxes of Lorcana yesterday. It looks like such a fun game to play.
I think steel amber actually had that game. Ariel should have been used to sing a whole new world which would have gotten rid of the mickey before it got played. If you left the board to quest it would have been to 19 the next turn and you might have won.
Great content guys, keep it up. You mention it's not the setup you'd want, but it's ok, IMO. 🤗 Just a quick question: wouldn't it be better to friends/cauldron before any other actions you take for the turn? In my mind it would be better, as it gives you more information. All the best!

@@EvilDuckLordhe couldn't shift stitch, which is a key card against control. Rapunzels are also dead draws in this MU. Stitch aggro can beat up ruby/amethyst very easily.
@@MysentialDelfyrethen what did he do at 3:33? Now I don't have an extensive understanding of the match up, so I could be grossly incorrect, but both decks are considered tier 1 and depending on tech cards and luck of the draw, both decks can have their day. Therefore I'm just not surprised that either deck can take games off of each other. Am I naive in thinking that Amber-Steel doesn't just steamroll over Ruby-Amethyst?
@@EvilDuckLord it was just unfortunate that he couldn't chain draw the 1 drops and got them late game after dead drawing rapunzels. But I could also see misplays with whole new world and play patterns where he could have gotten more lore or stopped some plays to slow down the game to gain resources.
Overall, the deck is pretty resilient to t7 be prepared once, but not twice.
I run Ruby/Amethyst and it’s so dominating. I don’t think I’ve lost a match with it since I made it last month. My friend group has a tough time against me.
Red/Purple’s only meaningful weakness seems to be agro decks that win by turn 5/6. Elsa is probably the one card that pushes the deck to nearly 100% win rate against everything else (except the mirror).
i havent even played yet and I can tell Lorcana TCG is more fun than other card games. Simple enough to learn and similar to Hearthstone mechanics. Only problem is that it's so hard to get for reasonable prices now

As good as Amber/Steel is, there’s been no real competition for Ruby/Amethyst for well over a month now. I run both and every time I’m playing Ruby/Amethyst it feels impossible to lose with.
Kinda took the shine off of the game tbh, that the game is just out and already teetering on becoming a T0 format
We’ve participated in a couple of tournaments already and playing amethyst/Ruby isn’t an automatic win. There are some decks with intense aggro that are able to win before “Be prepared” can even be played. For example, Amber/emerald aggro that runs Just in Time and Kuzco can be a really hard time to beat. Ruby/amethyst definitely has late game, but it has to get passed early game first. Amethyst/steel is very strong as well. It’ll be interested to see what happens as future sets get released as well
@@InstinctTCGandCollectibles that’s kind of the point I was making. You have one niche deck with one niche play which makes it slightly less 1-sided. Everything else gets absolutely crushed by Ruby/Amethyst. Even early decks are never safe because you have access to Gaston/Rafiki/Zeus/Maui and by then you’re in Dragon Fire range with a turn clock of 1 turn before Be Prepared ruins your day.
It was always going to happen, especially since there’s no colour requirements for costs, hence why they aren’t doing anything competitive for a year. So it’s not surprising, just disappointing that the fix for the game situation is a few months away at best and a year away at worst.
@@daveedwards4681I don't disagree that ruby amethyst is the best deck but I don't think running 24 unsinkable cards and drawing perfectly is a realistic representation of how it plays either.

Yeah I don’t know Im tryna play with sapphire And it just seems so bad compared to amethyst/Ruby and any steel deck I might have to play amber/emerald but I’m tryna play something a little niche I might have to wait until more cards come out
sapphire is a good color. being able to ramp faster than other colors is deadly. it just depends on what u wanna pair it with.

I can try and have my deck list up for it by today. Doesn’t have four Elsa’s which is usually the ideal but was able to make it work with the cards I had!

If your playing an aggro deck with amber steel, i dont understand the reason you did not quest with stitch on turn 2 and 3? That's 4 lore that you chose not to start the game with.

I couldn’t quest turn 2 with stitch because I just played it, but turn 3 when I shifted into rockstar stitch, I was afraid that if I quested, she could’ve taken it out with either a rafiki/Zeus rush with maleficent to finish it off which would leave me in a pretty bad spot especially with a control deck. I wanted to make sure it stayed on the board for my follow up play where I used it’s ability to draw into some more cards. Thanks for watching
What cards made you scared to not quest with stitch in turn 2 and with rockstar in turn 3?
Turn 4 , Zeus or rafiki with charge and maleficent to finish stitch

Dude was playing the game at 10% of his power, I would've won the game on turn 6.
Im not sure how well versed this control player is but their sequencing is off and they made some weird plays. The maui turn felt like a BPP turn.
Hey! So in Disney Lorcana there is no set order that you have to do stuff in. For me, when looking at my hand I always develop a game plan and think of what cards my opponent might have in their hand as well to try and anticipate it. I knew I had to get rid of that Simba due to the size of my opponents board, and Maui usually offers a 2 for 1 exchange (except for cards like Kuzco). With the amount of ink in my inkwell, I did not have many other options.

That’s because he didn’t “sing” to play it. He payed 5 to sing it rather than using a character

Shift still says “play” in the reminder text, so Lantern should work to pay 1 towards playing a Shift character, I think.
it works, stitch cost 3 if you have a lantern and shift it
left player should have swung in their second turn you can't play scared like that. Second to last turn sing with Ariel makes no sense you passed the turn with enough ink to play it outright. Be careful about just using cards for their abilities just cause. You could have easily won that game!
She didn’t drop herself 1 lore for Aladdin which allowed her to win.
3 cost Aladdin only takes 1 lore from opponents, not from yourself

Really great match! Just to note: this isn't against the rules as such, but I would try to get out of the habit of asking your opponent if they're finished with their turn. People normally do this because they don't want to give the opponent an opportunity to think. They will finish when they finish, so I would just be patient.
And touching the opponents cards. Remind people they can’t switch back to active not switch it for them, hella rude.
Love the content but I’m pretty sure with Elsa (Spirit of Winter), they have to be ready in order for you to exert them so they can’t be readied next round. If they are already exerted then you can’t keep them from readying next round. Let me know what y’all think!
They don’t have to be ready. You can keep them exerted.
They dont they stay exerted regardless if they are already or not
