Ever since day one 909 Festival has gone above and beyond to put together a well-balanced musical program. Playing a major part since the early beginnings have been three simple basics; celebrating the pioneers, inviting fresh quality artists and supporting the locals.

We used to call him the dj's dj. His mixing skills were and still are amazing. In the times of Technics SL1200 turntables there was no sync button, but he mixed his tracks like he had a secret button. He can build the tension and really take you away. Not all of his selected tracks are tracks I would select. But he chooses them so well they have a place and purpose in the total set. That is visionary mixing, telling a story from his mind or soul to the audience. I love it. So grateful we can enjoy his artistic talents.

He’s a Techno legend. Awesome mixing skills and production skills are on another level. Saw him for the first time in 1992 at an all nighter in Scotland then at the first universe Tribal gathering on the 30th April 1993 his set was a masterpiece of how you build a set and everyone into a frenzy. Watching this set made me somehow very emotional, and I need to share a bit of the experience that I had with Laurent playing...
01/27/2018, that was the day I saw Laurent at Warung Beach Club in Brazil. I remember that at the time I barely knew about Laurent (I know, sad thing to admit, but all good things come at you in the right time I believe). I remember it was a hard time in my life, I was sad and anxious about many things that were happening. A couple of friends just invited me to go with them and I've said "fine". Laurent started his set around 3-3:30 am and went till around 08:30am. I have no words to describe what he did on that night. I cried (of happiness) at least 3 times just hearing what he was doing, and people around us were so happy and emotional as well, I consider myself skeptical about many things, but that night it felt like he touched everyone's soul. It changed completely the way I see overall and electronic music forever. He is one of the few djs and producer that puts his soul into his work, everybody there could feel it, almost touch it. From that day on I took the decision to learn how to djing and I am making my way into producing as well. Laurent changed me deeply that night, and all I am is grateful and happy to have witnessed this legend at work, I was indeed very lucky. For those who got the opportunity to see him, I can only advise you to not miss this singular chance, Laurent talent and feeling is quite rare, exquisite and touching. Definitely one of those geniuses that appears couple of times during a century I would say. He is special :)

@@MarcS4R i hold a special place for that fucker .. so much so that i let him make out with my girlfriend one night he was playing nyc. he was a gentelman about it though and asked first. his set at sonar in 2000 had me in tears when he dropped inner city- good life as the sun was coming up. you know the guy knows his shit if the detroit guys accepted him into their tight circle. he draws a lot of his playing style from them but added that french twist. He gave my friend a monthly residency at his club in paris, rex club, i have no excuse not to go see him. He's in my top 5.

I don't want to seem old and bitter, but the more "big warehouses techno parties" expand in Paris, with the same level of mediocrity (saturated sound, no nuance, etc.) the more I realize, listening to this mix, how a genius this man is. He puts so much passion into each of his sets. Its not techno, not electro, not..whatever... Its MUSIC. Quel artiste! On t'aime Laurent!

oh my lord, this is epic. Tbh i'm not sure i would be totally in love with 50% of the tunes if i heard them on an individual basis. I mean they are ok but doesn't matter, he shows utter DJ class blending them to take the crowd on a sonic ride that they wont forget and that is why he is one of the best in the business. When Aristotle said 'the whole is greater than the sum of its parts', he was talking about moments like this. Respect LG

nobody caresses a mix like Garnier and when he has hit the sweet spot there is no third hand pretending to tweak the EQ, he just enjoys it with us all, probably feeling rather pleased with the sounds he creates...and rightly so. All class.

@@jorgemiras5839 how do you know a dj is from detroit? he's constantly doing something, usually sweating his balls off, and working his ass off. Laurent falls in that camp with those guys, sadly not many others do.

@@MordorMolle no shit :) but he is accepted by the detroit innovators because his style of production and dj'ing meet their high standards. The detroit producers are very secretive and only allow a select few into their world. I had the pleaseure of meeing mad mike but he put up many roadblocks in order to weed out the weak. Sure we almost got shot and mugged getting to him but it was worth it - since he rarely goes out and most dj's/producers don't even know what he looks like. Of the 200 people at the buffet/party only myself and two other people made it and we were rewarded with a tour of his headquarters - the location cannot be looked up and the address is unlisted.
