Great technique, man! Although your playing is epic, in Davie504's defence, he is using full rest stroke technique, and you...weren't. Your fingers move like a hummingbird after 20 espressos 😂
Actually not. This is so common that it doesn't hurt anymore. We just realize how ignorant people can be, not in a bad way, just lack of information. It is all good! The joke is great anyway. But we don't get offended.
to my fellow english-only speakers: It's funny because they speak Portuguese in brazil. But 'gracias' is a Spanish word. I know this because I watched two portguese movies that were subtitled in english. ("City of Men" and "Phenomenon") and I took like 5 years of spanish (which doesn't diminish my claim that I am an english-only speaker).
"Chaves" or "El Chavo del ocho" was a mexican comedy show that was also featured in Brazil featuring kids in a "villa", playing around and joking w/ eachother. It was quite popular, and still is.

Chaves is the Brazilian name of the Mexican tv show El Chavo, written and directed by the great Chesperito. It's still one of the most beloved TV Shows here, despite is from almost 50 years ago
Besides that the show were portuguese dubbed on the 80s' and the technology at that point couldn't divide the original voice lines from the original sound track. So this soundtrack we know in this show in Brasil were added by our sound editors. So only us watched it like that. What a holly bass line though
"Chaves" is an old comedy show from Mexico ("El Chavo del Ocho" in the original) in the 1970's. Those 70's episodes were fully dubbed and adapted for brazilian TV in the 1980's, so the brazilian channel used their own music tracks (usually royalty-free songs from the 70's themselves sold for TV studios) which sounded unsurprisingly a lot like jazz fusion and synth music from the 1970's. This is how Chaves ends up sounding a lot synthy-moogy with octaved bass from the 70's and there are some cool bass lines, both synth and electric, to get from those LOL. It was broadcasted in Italy AFAIK but probably with another soundtrack, or the original one.
@TrueRattleheadThe word "gracias" is Spanish, not Portuguese. Some Brazilian individuals were upset because David did not use the Portuguese equivalent for "thank you." As a playful response, some Brazilians are now expressing their gratitude in French, implying it's the RUclipsr's native language, given his Italian background. It's worth noting that there's a common misconception globally that Spanish is spoken in Brazil.
Obrigado Davie 😎 Thanks Davie for opening the video with our “Kick Bass” video! 😎🥂🏆🎸 You’re invited to come to Brazil and play with us at one of our Brazilian tour shows. It will be a pleasure to have you with us! 😎🏆🎸
2:22 "Chaves" is a mexican sitcom that was extremely popular in Brazil, to the point that it's basically a cultural thing in our country, making more success than in it's original country.
and more, the original "el chavo del ocho" files came to brazil with only one audio track, so they had to dub, create sound effects and add Background songs from zero, they used a lot of amazing music from John Charles Fiddy, Leslie Pearson e Henrik Nielsen exclusively on the brazilian version.
2:23 "Chaves" in Brazil stands for "El Chavo del 8" (The Boy from the 8), it was a 70s mexican comedy show about kids and adults living in a small village. It was pretty successful in Mexico but it was also exhibited here in Brazil with brazilian dub and it is a big hit with relatable and remarkable characters, funny stories, jokes, gags and its soundtrack which is pretty cozy and well placed between the episodes and scene transitions. In Mexico, the main character is simply called "Chavo" which means "boy" because his real name is never revealed, but in Brazil we adapted him as "Chaves" cuz it sounded better than simply calling him "garoto", and it also syncs better with the characters lips.
2:30 To eu todo feliz pelo cara que superou as dificuldades e ta tocando baixo todo feliz, aí vem um infeliz e me diz que ele tocou tanto que gastou o Braço KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK Nunca ri tanto 🤣🤣🤣
2:23 Chaves is the brazilian name for Chavo del 8, a mexican sitcom that made a absurd success here (actually even more than in Mexico), becoming part of the childhood of millions.
fan fact: I see days ago that some musics are not in the original version, so this bass part could not exist in the original El Chavo del 8. Brazil has re-made all the musics from the ground because all of the original sounds like music, effects, crowd and voice were put in the same audio channel, making the dubbing difficult
Gracias HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You really get the musical spirit of Brazilian humor!!! Incredibly good!!! Now you're Brazilian!!! Welcome to the team!!!
You forgot very important brazilian bass players like Celso Pixinga, Braguinha, Kleyton Farley, Ted Furtado, Fábio Aposan. Brazil is the Bass Legend Home. Come to Brazil, drink our water now!
2:21 "Chaves" is a character from a very popular sitcom here in Brazil. The song that appears in the video is a song from it, and in the subtitles of the video of that woman playing bass is written, "Have you ever noticed the Chaves' bass line?". Chaves is fron Mexico, by the way.
It's not the original mexican chaves del 8 sound track. Marcelo Gastald bought Tony Hymas - Kids And Cartoons collects rights and replaces the OST as MAGA

the "gracias" in the end killed me HAHAHA
He did it just to make us crazy 😂 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
to my fellow english-only speakers: It's funny because they speak Portuguese in brazil.

2:22 - ''Chaves, what is this?'' OMGGGG 😭😭😭😭Chaves is a Mexican comedy series that was extremely popular in Brazil. Almost everyone has watched it.
the original name is el chavo
O Nome original do Seriado:
‘EL CHAVO DEL 8’
Original do MÉXICO 🇲🇽
everyone has watched it. Almost everyone has watched it at least 3 times =p haha
Ele sabe 😂
HAHAHA...Chaves is a 70's mexican show that became more famous in Brazil than Mexico.
2:30 Pedrinho sem Braço was my philosophy teacher in school. An excellent bass player and teacher!
ESSE CARA FOI MEU PROFESSOR DE FILOSOFIA! CARA SUPER MANEIRO
se chamasse João seria perfeito, John no arms.
@bordalahma Armless John
"Little Peter without arm"
Greetings from Brazil.
You nailed.
It's the point, we never tired of drinking it.
Come to Brazil we'll be happy to share the fountain with you.
Brazilian here! The end brought me tears of joy! I’ll eat pasta with catchup tonight in your homage!
😂😂😂😂
I do that too when I've skipped a meal
Dont forget to break the pasta in half before you cook it!
@istrub😂😂😂😂😂 very important step indeed, and as dessert guava pizza!
Merci beaucoup!
Check Mate cabrón. Kkkkkk
"Please come to Argentina" 👍
E a gente cai nessa direitinho! 😂😂😂❤
Brasileiro é o Golden Retriever do mundo
@Davie504 holding to not laugh at 2:50 is the best part of the video

The joke at the end. priceless. Obrigado!

@ederenergia4853 "Siiiim! Pois é! Pois é! Pois é! Pois é!"

Since you thanked us in our language, I want to thank you back in yours. Davie,
What is that?

@TrueRattlehead I don't know what it says, but it's in burmese, the language spoken in Myanmar (previously known as Burma)
@risaadthemerchant5142 It says, "thank you very much.".
Obrigado Davie 😎
