    DIGITNOW seems to be the same as Eyesen and Kedok... and perhaps Wolverine, Magnasonic ans possibly Kodak. The main differences may be the reel sizes allowed and 720p vs 1080p, and prices assigned to each. I recently got interested in buying one of these digitizers, and was amazed (and confused) when I started researching. Still confusing, but I now know the Kodak name doesn't mean much of anything anymore.

    Just what I need. I have a box full of 8 mm movies from the 50’s and 60’s. I was a little kid, but my family shot a lot of movies! Thanks!

    Nice!
    Seems easy to use and as you say if you have the patience to monitor the process if it gets stuck at some point.

    I've been on the fence about one of these for awhile.. I really wish they could release a pro version that's still affordable but made for more professional use. I hate the idea of scanning a bunch of film wondering if it could be better.

      Yes, it would be nice to have an option like that, for sure.

    Interesting piece of kit there Dave. 8mm and Super 8 weren't really big over here in the UK , I presume they were quite costly and out of the reach of most families. A great way to save memories of family occasions for future generations though.

      It’s pretty expensive to shoot super 8 these days too.

    Would you recommend this unit for someone who wanted to start up a business scanning home movies for people?

    • @theoldcameraguy
      @theoldcameraguy  9 месяцев назад +1

      I probably wouldn’t, just because many clients would want better resolution and color rendition if they’re paying for your service.

    I wondered if when you get a used camera and it doesn't work can you repair it with parts from another camera that some parts do work? I didn't know if a lot of the 35mm cameras other then a Canon Or nikon might use some of the same parts. What are your thoughts on Kodak Star cameras? Some guy in a comment on another persons video thought that you will get soft images in auto on a point and shoot, but how can that be? i have seen good pictures from point and shoot cameras. especially the ones that you post in videos., maybe they were just used to SLR only.

    • @theoldcameraguy
      @theoldcameraguy  Год назад +1

      I have gotten good shots on auto with point and shoot cameras and I enjoy shooting them - not everybody does. I have a few Kodak Star cameras, but I haven’t used any of them yet. The only cameras I’ve fixed with spare parts have been Dianas.

      @@theoldcameraguy Did Minolta Merge with Konica? I know that now someone else owns the name, but in the past I see both brands listed on ebay with the slash for it being one company or a sub company. Do you own a lot of both brands? I wonder why they called one the talker.

    • @theoldcameraguy
      @theoldcameraguy  Год назад +1

      I have the Talker - it actually talks with a recorded message - pretty cool. Konica/Minolta was a joint company. Ricoh/Pentax is another example.

      @@theoldcameraguy Do you have a talker video? For that time period that is pretty revolutionary to have that feature. How does the message get on the film though after you print it?
