Hey thanks for the video. I have all my pothos in leca, and I agree with you, they aren't easy. I think everyone has a different experience with them and it will depend a lot in the setup and environment. But for me, every time I take my pothos out of leca to clean - in my case algae - when I place them back they look very dehydrated and the leaves at the base get yellow and die, it always happens and I am not doing anything weird or wrong. In my experience, they are very dramatic and I will still transfer new pothos into leca but with the knowledge that they might not make it. I would also recommend to people new to hydroponics to try easier plants as they'll be able to get an idea of how hydroponics work, as I feel when people aren't successful they get stressed and blame the method and then the learning curve becomes painful. About the thai, I placed my thai in leca November last year, and it got very little of root rot, it really likes to be very dry, most of my aroids like it very dry actually, and it took almost 1 year to produce its first leaf!! At some point, I was like.. as long as it is not dying I am happy! I am buying some heat mats this month to prepare for winter... I am very scared because last year I had all my plants in 2 rooms, now I have them spread across 4 rooms and keeping an eye on all is going to be difficult mainly because they are close to the windows and I can feel some draft coming in. So really... fingers crossed. Regards from Scotland :)

Thank you! Yes, I think as long as they are rooms you walk through every once in awhile-they will do fine-when I put plants in rooms I never visit....then we run into trouble! Put heat under your monstera-you’ll be amazed

great video thanks. love the winter tips.. im hoping i dont lose anything this year..
Unrelated, have you ever put a "string of.." plant into leca? I was wondering if string of hearts, string of dolphins, etc work in leca. lol.
or just in general i think a cool video would be the plants you truly cant grow in leca. not plants that you cant transfer mature (like pothos) but plants that just always die in leca no matter what. I wonder if any exist.

Just Myra did a video transferring variegated string of hearts into Leca. She had amazing results.

I lost my BOP to LECA in the last couple weeks it just couldn't adjust. Before bringing my Alocasia Amazonica indoors I decided to transfer to LECA The first week went beautifully but, the second week, out of the 10 big beautiful leaves four have fallen two are turning yellow and the one that hadn't yet opened is shriveling. I'm thinking of transferring to a smaller pot since losing so many leaves and roots. I was thinking I should have gotten a heat mat for it before I brought it in. What do you think? Smaller pot, heat mat? Thank you so much for all your videos!

thanks for the clarification. i am curious if you think a beginner can put water propagated cuttings of pothos into leca once it has roots and leave it there permanently. i know mature plants seem to rot and not take the transition well, but what about cutting up your mother plant and putting it into leca that way? maybe mature pothos just dont EVER like leca even when started in it?
also thanks for the winter tips. i havnt had a winter with my leca yet and im kinda worried! i ordered a heat mat last week for emergency treatment, and some grow lights. but i hadnt picked a light fixture yet as most are ugly or too expensive. that spot light might be just what I need. added to my amazon cart to think about it :P
