What a great video @Ian! In all my tennis training, no one broke down the visuals like you did. It's almost like the back spin is a slight spooning motion. Without Essential Tennis videos, the 4 millisecond game of tennis touching the racquet would be impossible for me to see! Thank you!
I have one question that confuses me the most about topspin. Does the ball bounce higher after dipping down when we hit a topsin? I understand that the ball dips down at the net, but does it actually bounce to original height or does the ball just die down near the baseline? Thanks.
Yes! A ball with topspin absolutely bounces higher than a ball without topspin. The more topspin is on the ball the higher it will bounce. Great question!
Topspin is mainly used for groundstrokes (when you're rallying aka hitting forehands/backhands to the other player. Backspin is mainly for slicing, making your opponent come to the net (there are probably more for backspin, but I use it for slicing). After the bounce, backspin's direction is towards the net, making it hard for the opponent to effectively hit the ball.

You're always welcome, Sana!

Thanks! But say when you're playing a match, how do you decide if you're going to hit a topspin/backspin?

I’m tryna add back spin in competitive 4 square down all... its a lot harder with your hands
Competitive four-square is a thing?!?!
Does a chip shot use backspin?
Have you ever backspin a serve.
