As a Smolder main, this is in theory true but is just always wrong. The ONLY reason people build muramana is that you can buy tear early to address mana problems, forcing essence without having a huge early lead will give you 100 stacks at 15 min You also dont need much AH. At some point you can just 2 shot a wave and your fights are poke and run so you cant q off cooldown always anyway. And the lack of RFC is just a no. That item is both an offensive and defensive item on Smolder to the point it's a core item. His empowered Qs can singlehandedly zone off a team but of course it puts you at the risk of being caught too far, RFC covers that issue. Shojin is also not that important if the enemy has no tanks to spam Qs on and stack damage.
@@kelvinkegel2304disagree, liandry is a go-to on smolder, go into a 5 non tanky champs comp, your trinity force will deal 2K dmg since the 10 mins u bought it, and after only a couple of fights with liandry the dmg done will be greater than 2K, in just a couple of fights, people are just meta slaves they don’t know how to think for themselves, they say ap ratio nerfed they stop using the item as if its not completely broken
The thing with RFC is that it synergises well with his Q in that it extends his Q range. So build that as like third? after Essence -> Shojin then into RFC for that added range on the Q. The movement speed helps with kiting enemies too so there’s that.
instead of essence revear take tear and let it rest until youg et trinity and shojin, you'll never lack mana while having the ability haste of shojin and trinity then get the manamune thats how i do it and gotta say its pretty strong for stacking while having those 2 hp items early makes you tanky for the assasins while having dmgs with the stacks and item passives
In practice survivability becomes his main weakness around 2 or 3 tiems, so either building tankiness or range and ms becomes vital. So trinity shojin jak sho can work, or just go rapid 3rd. And ER is just the perfect item on smolder, and with shojin you want to spam the q damage and care less about the sheen procc if you're playing range build.
Essence manamune shojin has been pretty solid for me. You don't need to take any mana runes. A lot of people go attack speed rune as well, but I prefer ability haste, adaptive damage and scaling health
So to not get OOMed early, should I consider Doran's Ring instead of Doran's Blade? And if the issue persists, should I go with Manaflow Band + Scorch for better poke?
Manamune is still good on him. The early tear will help with early mana so you don't need the Essence Reaver rush and can get the bulk of Trinity Force. It's on hit and passive also both trigger on his q. Rfc is the real weird one, shojin is definitely better.
No it’s not. It wasn’t ever good on him. You’re making your early game even weaker by going tear. You said you go muramana for more mana when ER literally gives you infinite mana, and is the only item that lets you 1 shot casters with Q at level 9. ER is better stats and muramana only procs on the target you casted Q on. Why does everyone convinced it’s a good item on him just because you saw a pro build it.
but essence is just damagewise even better than manamune tho? manamune will only do more damage lategame but it gives less haste and at the point where it finally would make your Q do like 10 damage more (not sure if it even does) at that point of the game it wont matter anymore. stronger early and midgame is very high value. in higher elo games the enemies dont just let you buy early tear and get your first item powerspike over 600 gold later than with essence, and at this point still your q does less damage than with essence. only the spellblade target will take more damage. so essence is significantly easier to farm and stack with as well.
@@L3tha1ity but you will continously have issue with mana during laning phase until finishing ER. ER might be better in rank where the game speed is much faster than in pro play.

This is relatively bad advice generally unless its a free lane you need trifroce first for the hp, as for cdr manamune gives it so I'm not sure why manamune would be bad although I tend not to go it forgoing mana entirely with trinity into shojin. mortal reminder and jaksho is not bad advice for items 3 and 4 although I would favor the sustain of BT in a lot of cases. As for RFC it is overbuilt, however some games you just need it to get the first q off safely, plus its cheap and the AS is nice. Generally speaking this comes off as mathematically correct without taking into account the practicality of things, sure you maximize efficiency with what your saying, but often at the cost of being able to play the game.
this is good advice actually and i will explain to you why manamune is bad. see, manamune isnt a bad item on smolder technically, theres just a better option. so on smolder you want spellblade, as much cdr as possible, crit gives amp on his Q but isnt necessary and you need to make sure you dont run out of mana. trinity force rush isnt good because you want your first item to be the one that gives you mana. triforce is also the most expensive item in the game, and tear delays that for an additional 400 gold before you finish an item. essence reaver is better than manamune because it gives you a stronger earlygame, more haste, and it gives you infinite mana for smolder. manamune will do slightly higher damage than reaver in the lategame when you have your stacks, but at that point the haste matters more than the singular Q damage. triforce second for obvious reasons, and shojin third because it gives you most haste and damage and best stats, rfc should never be built third item on smolder its gigabad. fourth item its fine though. if you want to learn more in depth why this other build is much better, drututt explains this very well on his channel deeper. but yes this first build is just objectively and statistically worse than the second build. second build also has higher winrate, if my explanation didnt convince you
also to add to my previous comment, essence reaver gives significantly stronger earlygame than trinity force, i have no idea where you got the idea that triforce first is better. think about when you get the item and think about the mana issue as well. essence reaver is 3100 gold to buy and finish. this gives you massive powerspike and infinite mana (your Q is an auto, its free to cast from this point onwards) remember that your Q does 0,75% more damage for every 1% critical strike chance as well. its easier to farm too because your q does increased damage as a whole aoe, not just the target you autoed with spellblade. anyway essence is 3100 gold to finish, triforce is 3333 gold, thats 233 gold more, and the tear that you have to build early makes this build get the first item a whopping 633 gold earlier than the manamune build. essence is just bettrer than manamune on smolder and you can build it first item, which is the most important part. mana issues fixed with the first item instead of second is huge + you get 10 more haste.
@@yihadistxdl951 While the discussion around first item spike is entirely valid, the muramana+triforce spike is both reached earlier (if you've been stacking tear well, it's overall 200 gold cheaper), and actually gives you both more burst damage and more DPS than essence reaver into trinity. People tend to really underestimate how powerful Muramana is on AD Casters. You can literally go on the training mode to test this out too, btw, but a level 9 Smolder with Muramana and Triforce deals more damage in his Q (and this remains true even with haste taken into account for dps calcs), a bit less dps on autos once crit chance and damage is taken into account (but not enough to make up for Q damage), and significantly more damage on his skills between the increased AD and the Muramana procs. The calcs get worse for Essence Reaver with levels, until eventually it takes over in a sufficiently long match between amplifying passive stack damage on Q and gathering storm, if you took that rune, gaining more value with the crits and closing the gap Muramana originally made. But this sort of uber-late-game boon shouldn't matter much, since, you know, you're smolder in a super late game situation.
The pro player build is definitely better because it has earlier spikes and isn't that much late on the 225+ stacks compared to the build you are suggesting. Yes at 50mins you are gonna have more stacks but it doesn't matter if the game ended at 30 because you got most drakes, herald and a baron
The pro build has a delayed first item spike, but arguably a stronger one since it's triforce. Where it shines is the 2 item spike, which is both stronger and earlier than the suggested build here. EDIT: That said, I'm pretty sure both builds function pretty well. I'd like to add that it takes a really long time for the Essence Reaver to outscale the Muramana, and it does so mostly because of the extra ~19% damage on Q it gets from the crit chance rather than because of stacking pace. There are only so many minions on each wave, after all.
