That's a whole 26 extra HP! so 2582. With runes you ended up at 2638 HP. Heartsteel does 125 (+ 6% maximum health) bonus physical damage and grants you bonus max HP equal to 10% of the damage. 6% of your max HP is 158. The moment you bought it Heartsteel did 283 damage and granted you 28 health on hit. You ended the game on 3888 HP at 24 minutes, of which 228 was bonus health from Heartsteel hits. At that point the bonus damage would be 358, and you'd get 36 hp on hit. For simplicity's sake let's say you'd get Iceborn Gauntlet at the same time (even though it's 200g cheaper). At lvl 10 you have 83 base AD (and 96 at lvl 14) and 5 points in Q, which means a 5 second cooldown without CDR. Sheen has a cooldown of 2 seconds. You'd have to proc Gauntlet 4 times to deal more damage through item damage alone. E has a pretty high cooldown, so we don't expect to use it again in the calculation to match Heartsteel damage unless we reach the later stages of the game. EQ is often cast in the same 2 seconds so we'll rule out spacing those two for sheen procs. That means you need 1 more proc of off W and 2 more procs of off your Q. Your W you can cast in between Q procs, so from initation you'd need to wait for about 2 Q's, or 10 seconds. Damage wise from item alone Heartsteel is definitely better. However: What Gauntlet offers instead: - Iceborn Gauntlet grants you +50 HP per completed item, which is actually BETTER than Heartsteel passive unless you surpass 5k HP. - Tenacity and Slow resist. - Defensive stats: on top of bonus HP Iceborn Gauntlet grants armor. Those two work together very well as you've said many times. - 10% Damage reduction. This increases your (AND YOUR TEAM'S!) effective HP by 10%. Should be noted that this is against one target and only lasts for 2.5 seconds. - Sticking power. Your main source of damage is not your item, but your empowered Q's. If a target has 2000 max HP, one empowered Q at level 5 does 120 damage. If you can get only one more empowered AA off with Gauntlet than you would with Heartsteel, you already come close to HS damage. (120+83 = 203. That's 80 damage less damage, or 1 more Sheen proc). If you get 2 more off with Gauntlet than with HS you already did more damage. Anything after that and your Gauntlet outshines your Heartsteel by a lot. Unless the game is going to last very long the extra damage from Sunfire is not going to make the difference. Gauntlet is a lot more versatile and does not force or incentivise you to play a lot differently (chasing stacks). I think it's mostly a better pick up than Heartsteel. I'd actually argue AGAINST picking up Heartsteel in games where you are snowballing hard. If the game is over in no-time anyway you will barely benefit from the health growth and only ever really used the damage part, though Gauntlet's versatility grants you a similar damage output and definitely better dueling capabilities. I think Heartsteel can be good in games with multiple of these factors: - The game is bound to last very long so you can scale with the HP gains. For example 2 scaling laners. - You yourself are winning but your teammates are losing.. - Matchup where you win short trades. You accentuate your strengths instead of compensating your weakness. - An enemy carry that NEEDS to be burst down before they can pop off. - You're the only tank on your team and no enemies are building %max HP damage items. Against for example a Kayle top while your ADC plays Vayne and your mid Kassadin it could probably be a good pickup. If you plan on picking up hearsteel from the beginning I would perhaps consider taking ghost to compensate for the lack of sticking power.
I realized I was off with a few calculations. For example HS doesn't give itself the 1% extra HP and I forgot adaptive runes. Also a very important factor for buying HS I missed is if you just want to hear that satisfying Bonk and have fun. Can't be understated.
Another thing I also want to point out. if you go heartsteel you should go grasp... grasp scales from HP, and heartsteel gives you tons of HP... what is 4% bonus dmg based on your HP might be double of that versus another enemy. I think moment you went aftershock i would went any other item other than heartsteel. like someone said in one of the comments, with heartsteel you probably need to itemize straight from your runes "overgrowth, grasp", etc to get the most benefit from it
I feel like part of the problem with heartsteel is that shen wants to build it after bami's and boots, so you miss out on a few actuvations because you don't just rush it
very true, but rushing heartsteel leaves shen without any leading damage items or resistance items to last in 1v1's or teamfights before finishing it (unless you have your jng camp you to help gain the gold lead quicker)
i think we need an official shen Break Through when it comes to itemization as i find my self wondering if im using the correct items. The most fun i have with shen is Ice Bourne/demon fire shen but does it actually work and is it effecient
If you're buying hearthsteel you need to be 1. ahead in gold, 2. rush the item, and 3. vs a team comp where you can proc it easily repeatedly (front to back, multiple brusiers/tanks) THEN its good. Otherwise it puts you further behind.
heart steel works best with demonic embrace or titanic hydra as their damage scales off health. also warmogs as a 2nd item helps alot, and you need grasp of the undying to stack more health too. manco did a 9,000 hp teemo build with this setup, health stacking getting top damage on both teams.
“Don’t care don’t at me” after going t2 boots instead of bamis had dyin. I feel like that when I have a build in mind and choose to wing it instead for the dub
I personally think that (especially in low elo) the amount of hp you get from heartsteel is the utility. I usually build that, sunfire, abyssal, and demonic. This makes me super tanky and in long games, the extra 1k hp you get from heartsteel scales really good with his kit (especially his e, at those stacks, it will do 500-900 physical damage) and the items. Maybe its just me :3
I have a question if you don't mind, but have you considered Sudden Impact instead of Cheap Shot? I tend to go Sudden Impact to get the lethality and magic pen from Shadow Dash and the Empowered Twilight Assault gets bonus damage from the magic pen and the dash itself plus the autos get the lethality bonus. I want to know your take on the runes. Keep being awesome!
The thing with sudden impact is that you cannot make full use of it cooldown. The only way for Shen to proc sudden impact is with his E. Sudden impact has a 4s cooldown and 5s uptime iirc and Shen doesn't have the necessary cd to continuously proc it. While cheap shot has 4cd and you can proc it with Shen Q and E and Iceborn gauntlet
I'm curious about your thoughts on this regarding the upcoming Shen passive nerfs, since Heartsteel will be the only item/build path that will break even on passive shielding *before* reaching full build, while other tank mythics won't break even until full (or nearly full) build, and non-tank builds won't ever break even, so there's a lot of shielding to be lost without Heartsteel. I personally don't like building Heartsteel either, I'm more of a Radiant Virtue (or full AP :D) person, so I think it sucks that the nerf pushes people towards Heartsteel builds as far as I can tell.
I feel like even if you want the unga bunga big stats survivability of Heartsteel, Jak'Sho is just better in every way. Better stats (good balance between HP+resists = higher effective HP, take less from max HP damage), the drain basically comes in to what damage and health Heartsteel provides, and then after that you basically get a Deathcap for your bonus resists. Heartsteel's only really better on insane health scalers like Mundo, Cho and Sion - though even then, the tankiness from bonus resists may help you out more than the damage from the bonus health may.
I'm pretty sure (correct me if im wrong) first strike techincally procs if it's blocked, but since it does 0 dmg it gives 0 gold, so it's like you burned it for free
As an assassin player I was screaming when you were shrugging at "meh its only 600 free gold" at 22 minutes... but I also understand tanks need stats at that point badly.
I sympathise with all the people in the comments that actually agree it's a good item BUT you have to remember/realise that the situations for it are so limited these days that it's almost an afterthought in just about every game unless: they have 3+ melees, tanks/bruisers that dont build divine, you will be ahead in gold before buying it, buying the item won't be detrimental to wave management and after buying it you will still be valuable to team before second item. I love heartsteel, sunfire, titanic, demonic but the amount of times you can do it + be a value to team + be ahead before item purchase + not fall behind after buying is just so rare these days.
If I wanted health and damage I'd rather just buy titanic and get wave clear as a bonus, plus it's not a mythic so you can still buy Iceborn which is an actually good item.
It's a good item if u get it early and start stacking. As a sion player I can say that I sometimes roll it. And when u get 1k+ hp stacked it does indeed start to hurt alot
The only time I build heartsteel is if I am ahead in lane. I rush heartsteel only. No bamis or wardens mail or boots. Just straight rush heartsteel. I notice that as long as I have HS by 10/12 minutes I am confident that I win the game. I stack at least 300 hp in lane phase before it ends and can take that an snowball with R plays around the map.
I always thought that Jak'Sho was better for Sion, since he can stacks health on his own with his W, while Jak'Sho gives him resistances to go along with that. Maybe it's just me though
Around 23 min you’re talking about the lack of utility in heartsteel and I feel it. I think grasp and the dark tech goredrinker shen has better skirmishing at low health and better extended/team fighting
I need wisdom What you think the most suitable for shen playstyle right now on top lane After new tank item update i feel lost because the gaunlet lost the bami part so i don't know how to play properly
It feels really good building it and Hydra, but I also think the item is really trash in most situations. Could you PLEEEEEASE make and itemization video for the half season master Petu? I play Shen for 3 years now and I never felt so lost on this matter.
Would Spirit Visage be better than Abyssal Mask this game? Your team doesn't have any big ap carries and Spirit will buff Ivern shield, your ult, and Gargoyle shield (if you build it)
@xPetu my peak so far has been 1 game away from GM in NA, when GM was like 610 LP ish. And I made it playing Heartsteel into hydra almost every game. From my experience. heartsteel feels really bad if you build sunfire before hydra, (unless you are giga fed and enemies are not that strong yet). IMO Sunfire is just a really weak item now, and hydra benefits and scale much better with heartsteel. I also agree that the build is indeed "greedy" and requires a lot of gold to pull it out. However, if you make it, you can even split push and take structures and beat almost anything on 1 v 1 while also remaining a team fight monster. the HP you get late game makes your ki barrier, E and R scale very well. Furthermore, I think it is a lot easier to make supportive shen builds work on your server than NA because in EU carriers are more competent and have better positioning and macro in general, and in NA you a lot of the time have to try to carry as Shen, and a lot of times you can have that idea from how the game starts. you can even see the numbers of radiant virtue for example, much better win rate on EU than on NA. what you can try to do is bamis>heartsteel> then go "budget" sunfire/abyssal, knights vow, all really cheap items that help you complement the build faster. I do think they should drop the heartsteel item price by about 200 gold since only really 2 champions build it often (shen and sion)
One thing I would like to add is that the build does feel weaker now since they made the minion changes (speed up and minions not helping with dive). I make less gold now because I get less kills, and Rs are punished heavier pre14 on top lane. I have been enjoying recently iceborn into hydra though
Petu I would only go aftershock if your building tanky and teamfighting even at low Hp. You being low hp gets peopel to focus you in a fight, which is when aftershock has value. So its ONLY really value if you build Jaksho and like, maybe sunfire or some shit? And as for heartsteel, you have to build it first to get the value. The value is it scales and gives silly amounts of health and you dont lose ALL the damage you couldve gotten from Sunderer or triforce
Yeah heartsteel feels good only on scaling tanks imo so you can get actuall value from the scalling hp and not just the dmg it does. So sion ,cho'gath, ornn. With Shen it has helped me snowball but only on games that I could have realistically won with any other tank mythic. I will never understand why people love/fear this item so much it only works with like 3 tanks and even then it is a major risk to go for it when a jak'sho for example gives you significantly more value early on without the risks
I tried heartsteel on shen and even tho it synergises with Q, I still felt like paper and damage was ok-ish. I believe resists reduce damage more than just pure HP values.
The thing is, it is very good if youre snowballing. Because if you play HS shen with a 7/0 score after like 15 min, youre 1-shotting adc's and supports with your combos. That heartsteel chunks them for a solid 700 damage in the leading auto and then some. If youre behind though, heartsteel really doesnt offer much value, since the enemies are higher hp, and also they have armor and magic resist. As soon as you loose the 1-shot potential (or just chunking potential) with heartsteel, it kinda looses most of its value if you ask me
@@herskind1364 I tried it in aram and it was the opposite. Later in the game I was more and more paper. But maybe its an aram thing, I faced a fed Vayne. Oh yeah and the magic resist thing.. True
@@GE_Photon_Lord ye thats exactly what im saying. as soon as they get strong, heartsteel looses its potential. It is very much a snowballing item, even though you will not benifit from its hp gain in short winning games
It's been a month since you post this video and I was studying the value of this item with Shen and this is what I realized. It has 2 values actually. 1. You have a potential carry in your game, like, a player who can 1v5 but needs some peeling, a certain peel like a shield. You can focus better to protect that carry with your R and HS to close the game with victory in your side. 2. The value increases the more melee champs you are against. I'm a pyke mid main and only buy eclipse whenever there are 4 melee champs in enemy team. With that in mind, I build HS on shen on a game with 4 enemy melee champs, and the surviving potential increased, damage increased and peel for a certain player also increased. I don't know if you check commentaries in old videos, but if you do, maybe this can help you in a future
It's good if they have 3 melee champs or more in their team comb. If they have more than 2 ranged champs or too much cc it's totally useless, you can not utilize it enough for it to get value. It's not worth it only laning phase cause in high elo it doesn't last long enough and rotation happen a lot. Especially if you play Shen it's not worth it cause laning phase lasts even lesser.
I actually dont really understand that logic. If you ask me heartsteel can be extremely good against more squishy targets, since its chunking potential is massive. When ahead you can literally 1shot combo adc's and supports with it. And the overwall weakness of heartsteel on shen is enemies with a lot of armor and magic resist, because it means less burst damage. The overall item value is much lower against tanky enemies
@@Mil1nk Sure, but that wouldnt really matter since you only really get a max of 5 minutes in laning phase with the item. As xpetu said, the stacking really isnt that significant whatsoever. So putting effort into maximizing an already insignificant ability is just a waste of time when you could have gone for so many better alternatives. The only real selling point for HS is if youre the only one ahead and wanna shoot for lategame or if the enemy team is squishy and you choose to not go divine sunderer
@@herskind1364 im still not arguing that other items are better but saying hearsteel is bad is just false, its a very good item on shen but its just better to play the other items in the current meta (or just don't play shen in current meta tbh)

I used get it on swain next to the mask - worked fine though nowadays everyone and their mother has botrk and hp% dmg so it just makes me feel super fucking squishy
heartsteel is especially bad on shen cause usually it's difficult to farm and u have to take bami + boots before going for it. So u can't stack for a long time and it's difficult to have value from it. It's why it's ok on some close range team comp if u're fed early on but that's it
I play shen support and i always use aftershock which is the only way i think that would work. also that skin+chroma is my favorite lol. better than ashen
This game is not the kind of game where you build Heartsteel in the first place, specially against Zoe in the midlane, so using this game as an example for "Heartsteel bad, Radiant Virtue good" is sketchy at least. I have had my fair share of games with Shen where I built bami into ionian boots, then heartsteel into Sunfire and Titanic as a third, and good lord, it can fucking slap and hard carry a game. After that you get resistance items. It's a late game build and it requires actual farming (a difficult tech for most Shen enjoyers), but the damage and the tankiness is insane You just have to build it into the correct comp.
Sometimes i go have some fun in ARAM, just 1-2 games/week . Now in one of my game with Tristana full buiild a Shen with Heartsteel, Sunfire, Thornmail, Plated Steelcaps and a Giant's Belt kill me in less then 2 seconds, thank you RIOT for ruining this game with yet another season where you have another item overpowered. This is why i quit for good playing SR and ranked 3 y ago, this game is so unbalanced and the only thing i keep the client on my pc is TFT. Btw i am season 1 player i know what i am talking about, i remember how it is to carry solo 1v5 (fiora, yi, jax, kasawin) but now feel like some champions and items are way too week and some are "META", the competitive scene ruin this game and dictate how boosts or nerfs go. I can talk for hours about champs and items but the point is that Riot forgot what is important, the players and the fun in this game, they put on the first place the competitive scene where the big investors need to make money.
It is specially good in low elo because you can't trust your teammates to be able to carry, while support items are good in high elo cause your teammates are actually good.
Ive noticed heartsteel is only really good when you buy your mythic before your laner does.... I love it when im ahead but when im behind JS seems like a better item because I dont need 200 stacks before it becomes useful... With that said youll never see me give up tank YI
Hearthsteel is only for champs that get benefits from health scaling, for other champions there are better options specially because they ramp up faster, yes 1000+ charges hearthsteel is unbeatable, but most likely you'll have probably lost even before reaching 500 charges.
Finally you tell people that they should NOT build Heartsteel ! OTP Shen here and I never build it I think it really gives an inting playstyle and the stats and damage are not good on Shen
HS is good for dealing burst damage and shield. But i usually prefer jak sho, visage, sunfire, thornmail, and last item can be situational (abysal, silvermere, deadman, warmog)
For low elo and games where you are ahead and/or can buy bami + completed heartsteel at 12m I do build it on Shen, if Im not that ahead I go Radiant or Iceborn usualy. For low elo I think heartsteel, Sunfire, Demonic, Titanic Hydra and Statik is the GOTO build, unless you need the MR. Everything in this build has synergy with heartsteel For higher elo games bringing utility with redemption or Radiant I think is more valuable overrall What do you guys think?
You need a rather specific build, strategy, enemy team composition, and rune-page to go for Heartsteel. Your second item should be Warmog's Armor with it to begin wielding a huge health bar - so you have to look out for enemy champions that do percent health damage and/or build BotRK. You stack resistances after that - Gargoyle's Stoneplate, for example. None of those items are cheap, AND you need a way to stick to targets long enough to auto-attack them 3x - so you need Hail of Blades, Ghost, and Flash. And you have to afford this build core without buying any farm item - which you will generally only be able to do with the help of your jungler, since kills are the only good way to get that much gold. One thing I've been meaning to try though is Tiamat + 300g boots first, into Heartsteel, into Titanic Hydra. I think that will operate a lot better than Bami's first, since you have to walk up in order to use Bami's. Especially in lane vs a ranged champion like Zoe, being able to maneuver and still push waves quickly at the same time is important. I don't think it will be good, but I think it will work a bit better than Jock Shoes + Titanic Hydra to quickly wreck targets and/or push waves. Iceborn Gauntlet + Titanic Hydra should outperform both of those options easily. Personally I almost always go Tiamat into Warmog's Armor, finish Titanic Hydra to turn Warmog's on, then choose my mythic based on game state. (I also max E first; I value the extra mobility highly especially when using R to join early fights.) That's far too late to bother with Heartsteel. Toplane is where you find quite a lot of percent health damage built into kits... so Heartsteel kind of sucks there on every champion to some degree. It is very much an item that works best (imo) on champions that don't struggle to wave clear and have armor/MR built into their kits - Garen, Poppy, Leona, etc. Other champions should avoid it.
Heartsteel shouldn't be a stacking item and instead get stronger with is mythic passive. This would avoid inting, trolling or rewarding for kamikaze plays. As utility maybe tenacity would make sense with the big and unstoppable play style.
@@daboss4318more comprehensive than you'd expect a RUclips comment to be, well said. HP is definitely better on Garen than resistances due to the w passive stacks, however, only HP is very rough on him, he needs damage ranges to actually kill off enemies within the time he can stay in melee as well as some form of pushing, invading and kill pressure
Heartsteel is one of the best items Ive used on Shen. I think its very niche tho. Its a great item if you are ahead and ur enemy laner is losing. You secure stacks and start stacking early so for late and teamfights you already have a lot more health. Its such a good damage item, specially for shen that doesnt do much damage(im not the best player) but shen damage is stronger with heartsteel. As I said, its better if you get fed early and can begin to stack early. Maybe im bad at builds but heartsteel has been the most consistent item on shen for tankiness and damage.

@@luweewee the problem is not the lack of resists the problem is shen has the worst waveclear in the entire game before bamis/tiamat

i think we need an official shen Break Through when it comes to itemization as i find my self wondering if im using the correct items. The most fun i have with shen is Ice Bourne/demon fire shen but does it actually work and is it effecient
If you're buying hearthsteel you need to be 1. ahead in gold, 2. rush the item, and 3. vs a team comp where you can proc it easily repeatedly (front to back, multiple brusiers/tanks)
THEN its good.

Maybe its just me :3
exactly! even heartsteel into titanic because of the %HP scaling. Heartsteel works so well with shen's passive
I personally don't like building Heartsteel either, I'm more of a Radiant Virtue (or full AP :D) person, so I think it sucks that the nerf pushes people towards Heartsteel builds as far as I can tell.
i think it got reverted cause it was suppose to come out this patch
@@manofpotats I read that they were simply pushed to next patch instead, but if it is reverted then that's great news.

1:10 I thought he said, “Ooohh! Free Yoghurt!”
PETUUUU, please if you could give us an in depth shen guide with your current meta builds pleaseeeeee
I really believe that if Heartsteel is the pick, it has to be early in a lane where you know you can use it. The exponential nature requires it.
Is this an AthleanX reference from Petu?!
4:30 But how long should I allow my well kneaded magic resist to rise before I bake, man? I need to know!
As an assassin player I was screaming when you were shrugging at "meh its only 600 free gold" at 22 minutes... but I also understand tanks need stats at that point badly.
Hmm, Am I wrong or is this an ATHLEAN-X reference here?
😂😂😂
I sympathise with all the people in the comments that actually agree it's a good item BUT you have to remember/realise that the situations for it are so limited these days that it's almost an afterthought in just about every game unless: they have 3+ melees, tanks/bruisers that dont build divine, you will be ahead in gold before buying it, buying the item won't be detrimental to wave management and after buying it you will still be valuable to team before second item.
I love heartsteel, sunfire, titanic, demonic but the amount of times you can do it + be a value to team + be ahead before item purchase + not fall behind after buying is just so rare these days.
If I wanted health and damage I'd rather just buy titanic and get wave clear as a bonus, plus it's not a mythic so you can still buy Iceborn which is an actually good item.
titanic costs too much to buy as first, assuming you’re buying it over heartsteel first item
It's a good item if u get it early and start stacking. As a sion player I can say that I sometimes roll it. And when u get 1k+ hp stacked it does indeed start to hurt alot
Loved the AthleanX reference in the title lol
Some well-reasoned arguments, but my counter: I'm addicted to the pboungggggg sound. xx
I also think that hearsteel works better for champs like Sion rather Shen
I always thought that Jak'Sho was better for Sion, since he can stacks health on his own with his W, while Jak'Sho gives him resistances to go along with that. Maybe it's just me though
@@lukazgarza4075 honestly Jak is much better anyway, even for him.
Around 23 min you’re talking about the lack of utility in heartsteel and I feel it. I think grasp and the dark tech goredrinker shen has better skirmishing at low health and better extended/team fighting
I need wisdom
What you think the most suitable for shen playstyle right now on top lane
After new tank item update i feel lost because the gaunlet lost the bami part so i don't know how to play properly
It feels really good building it and Hydra, but I also think the item is really trash in most situations. Could you PLEEEEEASE make and itemization video for the half season master Petu? I play Shen for 3 years now and I never felt so lost on this matter.
genuinely bro after the radiant virtue and redemption nerfs, its pretty hard to know what to build (i play shen support too lol)
Heartsteel is an item that works amazingly on a select amount of tanks and others not so much. Definitely not a universal tank item
Would Spirit Visage be better than Abyssal Mask this game? Your team doesn't have any big ap carries and Spirit will buff Ivern shield, your ult, and Gargoyle shield (if you build it)
Bamis/Lucidity -> Locket -> Redemption -> Finish Sunfire or build Abyssal. Shen feels sadly actually useless atm

Faker when he goes 3/0 lvl 1: 😐🥱
Xpetu when he gets off 30 damage before minions meet: 😱😱🎉🎉🎉🤫😎
Hey petu so i been in the dungeon theory building and i came across rageblade its now a mythic item you think it can be a viable off meta build?
Petu I would only go aftershock if your building tanky and teamfighting even at low Hp. You being low hp gets peopel to focus you in a fight, which is when aftershock has value. So its ONLY really value if you build Jaksho and like, maybe sunfire or some shit?
And as for heartsteel, you have to build it first to get the value. The value is it scales and gives silly amounts of health and you dont lose ALL the damage you couldve gotten from Sunderer or triforce
Nice video Petu
an excellent argument you got there, but have you considered the sound it makes?
Petu, please try Trinity Force rush on Shen!
@@herskind1364 Makes sense. Then judging by this, I wouldn't pick it again because it's not consistent.
I mean... what other item has the same satisfying DONK sound when proc'd though? And what's better, satisfaction or lp? 👀
Everyone has seen the game where someone got 1000 stacks and was unkillable, but in most games, it's just less value than other tank mythics, sadly.
I just build heartsteel when upfront burst would be useful. So like with Samira or really any reset champion on my team.
An Athleanx meme reference in an xPetu video title is something i never expected but i’m all here for it
Think heartsteel is okay into triple melee.
Especially if you play Shen it's not worth it cause laning phase lasts even lesser.
it works well on shen if youre in a matchup vs tank or the enemy team lacks damage and you're ahead.
@@herskind1364 its because you get to stack it for free in tank vs tank matchups
@@Mil1nk " its a very good item on shen but its just better to play the other items in the current meta" So basically heartsteel is a bad item on shen. You literally said it yourself. its a bad item for him in this meta because there are many better alternatives. Theres no other way to say it. The item is overall bad on shen. And i dont really know why you would advise to not play shen in this meta, he is still very strong. His winrate is still amazing too
Would be more health when you start building it earlier. Well atleast in low elo it works.

Rather go goredrinker, titanic, steraks then more dmg crazy sustain
@@teo6009quite confident same build but with HS and bamis cinder instead of steraks is simply more damage and significantly tankier
The truly forbidden item.. is Guinsoo's Rageblade.
It's why it's ok on some close range team comp if u're fed early on but that's it
The conflict you have with heartsteel makes me really realize that the item only works in low elo (my elo lmao)
It's a late game build and it requires actual farming (a difficult tech for most Shen enjoyers), but the damage and the tankiness is insane
You just have to build it into the correct comp.
Petu #1 shen world
Sometimes i go have some fun in ARAM, just 1-2 games/week .
I take it if they have 3 or more melee (Silver).
You're assuming I had LP gains to begin with?
Is Heartsteel good for low Elo? (Bronze - Plat)
Or should you never build it?
It is specially good in low elo because you can't trust your teammates to be able to carry, while support items are good in high elo cause your teammates are actually good.
Can you tell Wadu you love him? He loves you ❤
Ive noticed heartsteel is only really good when you buy your mythic before your laner does....
OTP Shen here and I never build it I think it really gives an inting playstyle and the stats and damage are not good on Shen
i feel like heartsteel belongs only in ARAM
Are you a fan of face pulls by chance
Petus uhmmm sounds like shen ulti
HS is good for dealing burst damage and shield. But i usually prefer jak sho, visage, sunfire, thornmail, and last item can be situational (abysal, silvermere, deadman, warmog)
For low elo and games where you are ahead and/or can buy bami + completed heartsteel at 12m I do build it on Shen, if Im not that ahead I go Radiant or Iceborn usualy.
For low elo I think heartsteel, Sunfire, Demonic, Titanic Hydra and Statik is the GOTO build, unless you need the MR. Everything in this build has synergy with heartsteel
For higher elo games bringing utility with redemption or Radiant I think is more valuable overrall
What do you guys think?
How does shiv synergise with hs?
@@daboss4318 Demonic gives more AP based on max HP, and Shiv has 50% AP scaling
I never win with heartsteel.. i build ice born for tanky path but against tank i build sunderer.. im prolly just bad lol
Athlean XPetu is that u
Yeah heartsteel only work on champs that really love health. Doesnt work on full tank garen cause you wanna stack resists on him
Stacking resistanses is bad too, diminishing returns are too strong, and you also nerf your w passive alot
I always build Heartsteel on Shen. But I only play ARAM. 😂 Seriously
Im unkillable w/ hearsteel shen on aram.
When all you can do is fight, getting an item that scales with fighting is OP
Easily the best mythic in ARAM
The first auto foreshadowed Zoe’s demise
And also dont go Statikk Shiv on Zoe :D
Heartsteel is not good to my shen...everytime i build it i will lose that game
Heartsteel is one of the best items Ive used on Shen. I think its very niche tho. Its a great item if you are ahead and ur enemy laner is losing. You secure stacks and start stacking early so for late and teamfights you already have a lot more health. Its such a good damage item, specially for shen that doesnt do much damage(im not the best player) but shen damage is stronger with heartsteel. As I said, its better if you get fed early and can begin to stack early. Maybe im bad at builds but heartsteel has been the most consistent item on shen for tankiness and damage.
I don't play against other players, i play against Turrets.
HeartSteel = turret damage.
