      On that rig, the type of work schedule they perform, I’d sleep like a baby. The platform is sitting on the sea floor, no ?

      @@cpcattin Not usually these days. That one may be, IDK. But a lot of them are floating.

    • @Infro-
      @Infro- Год назад

      @@suchabadkitty1293 Depends on the type of platform and the depth of water. Even if the platform is floating, it is tightly secured with so called "tension-legs", hence the name TLP (tension-leg platform). Other types like SPAR and FPSO are also secured with tension cables. Floating platforms are also partly submerged underwater to increase the buoyancy and reduce its tilting on rough seas.
      Maybe you can't go outside with rough weather, but after work is done, it is comfortable enough to relax in living quarters.

    • @Dan-fo9dk
      @Dan-fo9dk Год назад

      .....well....they did not build it there. They build it near land in a Norwegian fjord. When finish they tug it out on the North Sea. At the given location they lower/sink/ballast the structure deeper so the legs stand on the bottom. It is a very large structure since the depth is 300 - 350 meter. The largest of them all was the Troll platform. With a weight over 1,1 million ton it was the largest object ever moved by mankind. There are several videos on YT about the building and movement of the Troll platform. Hope this info will give you a clearer picture of how things are done ....just in case you wanted to have your own platform out there.
