- On this channel I've primarily talked about finding the best ETFs for maximizing dividend income, but the one thing we haven't discussed is how you as an individual can generate income for yourself.
And this brings me to the Wheel Strategy.
Now this isn't a day trading, scalping or a swing trading video.
I want to focus on a more passive route, one that is especially beneficial for retirees.
There are many income strategies like the very common covered call strategy.
But the wheel strategy is an options trading strategy used by investors who are bullish on a stock, and have a goal of generating income, and acquiring an underlying asset at a reduced cost.
In this video i go through the strategy in FULL detail along with a variety of tips and tricks you can use to enhance the income generation of your portfolio.

Very nice job covering the basics. I am sharing this not to brag but to show what’s possible. I’m retired and I have 2 separate portfolios. One is a long term growth dividend portfolio of stocks where i sell covered calls strategically and my 2nd portfolio is the wheel options strategy where its all about income. This year I am on pace to make $60K in realized options profits and around $56K in dividend income. What is great is that my long-term portfolio is still up significantly as well. As such, it’s possible to generate excellent income but still have a total return perspective. This past year I’m up $166K. ILove your channel ❤

Very comprehensive video. One thing to look out for in your final example is the wash sale rule if you intend to continue trading that same stock. Also try to avoid another year like 2022.

I'm confused. Thumbnail said you sold everything. Also, no indication vid would be the Wheel. It seems like this is really out of left field. Your thumbnail disclaimer notwithstanding, it usually has some relevance to the vid topic.
A covered call IS NOT BEARISH. Covered calls always have positive delta, which means it is a bullish position (although only slightly bullish). The position makes money when the stock goes up or remains flat, but can lose money if the stock falls by more than the call premium received.
Wheel strategy doesn’t produce real cash flow because it’s difficult to determine how much profit you make, might as well put it in a covered call fund that pays a dividend
Agreed 100%. One big caveat to options trading I didn't hear mentioned is taxes. The premiums you receive plus any capital gains are all taxed at the short term or your regular income tax rate. So if you are not regularly setting aside money as you make it you can get one big head ache of a tax bill. The dividends from the covered call funds are also probably taxed at regular income tax rates, but I can just give 25% each month to the Stealership I mean government, and reinvest the rest as buying opportunities present. Or you can use the income for living expenses etc.
I hope this is helpful. Admittedly you do not know your profit until either the option expires, you close the put sale prior to expiration (hopefully at a profit) or the stock is put to you & you then sell a covered call that may or may not then be exercised eliminating your position with the final P/L calculation. An example might be the XLE September 86 puts. If the stock remains above 86 the puts you sold a couple of weeks ago expire and you have a profit in excess of $2.00 (i.e. profit realized in couple of weeks). You might want to combine some individual stock & ETF trades with a couple of covered call funds. Viktoria has done some very informative presentations on various covered call ETFs. Best of luck.

I've seen ETFs that follow a covered Call option strategy, but do any ETFs implement this wheel strategy? It seems like selling puts instead of owning the stock for a covered call would reduce NAV and make it more affordable. If not, why not?

@@demetrisvellianitisno one only recommends one fund. She recommends different funds for different situations. Ispy for the benefit of daily options. Iwmi when she saw a reallocation from tech to mid caps. What’s the problem.
