Most of these comments are miss information about how Atlanta works. Atlanta has an abnormally small city limit area for a large sprawling metro it seize it's over 28 counties and nearly 6 million. because of this any place in side the inner 5 suburban counties of the region. Fulton, Dekalb, Clayton, Cobb and Gwinnett is consider "Atlanta"... For example Ludacris, Monica, 2 chainz, Jermine Dupri, Ying Yang Twins and etc are from Collage Park which actually a suburb. but culturally in not consider a suburb just the south side the same with waka Flocka being from Clayton county is consider the South side. The east side would be East Atlanta but also Decatur and all of Dekalb. The Northside would be North Fulton county and Gwinette county. Which is where migos are from.

I can see where they are coming from honestly. I lived in an apartment complex that was in a nice area in Roswell, GA, but as soon as you got in the complex, you could tell it wasnt as nice as you would think. The police were always there, most people were just outside hanging out smoking weed, and people always had guns on them. I was one of the few people in my neighborhood to live in a two parent household but everyone else was raised by a single parent. This is just an accurate representation to not judge a book by its cover.

This is not Atlanta. I'm from Decatur and grew up in St. Mountain on Redan Rd and right now I live in Clayton county. These ain't Atlanta either. They area in Gwinnett county in Lawrenceville. That could be called the 'metro area'and almost all the metro area of Atlanta is suburbs. Most if all the places that you gone be in if you come here are metro areas. You will not be in Atlanta all the time for sure. Most of the projects been gone due to gentrification. If you ain't from here or been here a long time then you will never find Bankhead because its not named that anymore. Gwinnett county is a little bit rich than other counties. It is one of the most diverse counties in the state racially. Lots of everybody lives here. Gwinnett also has more drugs than any county in the state too but you. But you can't tell just visiting.
We still call the whole area the A.

In ATL you may not even know you're in a hood until you see someone getting jacked or you get caught in the crossfire. Back in the day I was in a middle class neighborhood in Philly and I swore I was in the hood because of the way it looked.

They're in Gwinnett county. It's not Atlanta. It's Northeast of Atlanta. It's on the metro area but come on. All these people talking east side and west side are talking about the city. The North side of Atlanta is mostly rich people and Mexicans. You go through little Mexico and our Chinatown before you even get to Gwinnett county. It's too far away from 285 to be considered in the city.

The bottom line is this. If I dial 911 from your house and Atlanta Police don't show up, then you don't live in Atlanta. All the surrounding areas make up the Atlanta metro area. The only reason people just say Atlanta is because Atlanta is the city that's most familiar with the rest of the U.S. You tell somebody that's not from the Atlanta area that you're from Gwinnett county and they'll look at you like "where that at?". It's easier to just say you're from Atlanta.

South Gwinnett is the outermost limit of Metro Atlanta in terms of urban/surburban vs rural, or presence of "hoods" It dont take much to have a little hood. Half an apt complex or a small subdivision can be lit. I've lived in South Gwinnett for almost 10 years. My kids go to same HS Migos went to. I consider South Gwinnett to be the burbs, ain't like it's the boonies tho. When I meet ppl familiar with metro A, I say Im in Gwinnett, or Norcross. Ppl not familiar I say I'm in Atlanta. I work in Midtown and Downtown. My plug is near the bluff. I'm on Simpson 3 days a week for the last 10 years. I be in CP, EP, got fam in East Atlanta, party in Decatur and all over. So to an out of towner it doesnt matter which technical spot of metro Atlanta I live in because they'd most likely rightly assume I "live" (make tracks) in several parts of ATL. I can move around 285 all in one day. I experience many parts of Atlanta regularly and an out of towner experiences none regularly. Someone else might live in the burbs somewhere , work close to home in the burbs, all their friends are squares from the burbs, and they rarely if ever experience lit parts of the ATL then when they say to out of towners they're from Duluth or something theyre letting it be known they aren't claiming Atlanta for good reason.

I used to work over where they lived.. I’ll put it to you this way, it’s not the hood but it’s not a rich nice white suburb either.. it’s more of a middle to lower class area. Do you have to worry about getting shot in a drive by walking down the street? No. But it’s definitely not the safest suburb in Atlanta. It’s definitely a black/Hispanic suburb but for the most part people are hard workers who live there, unlike the hood where you see dope boys posted on the block all day.
They can't take u to their part of ATL, because they not from Atlanta. Folks from Atlanta know who from Atlanta. These guys are about 1 hr north of Atlanta.

I went to school out of state and you'd meet someone n they say their from Atlanta. Turns out their from Kennesaw, Lovejoy, Stockbridge. I'm like stop lying. Then when I tell them that I'm from Adamsville or Ben Hill, they aren't familiar. Why? Because my address says Atlanta, not another city.
