Ancient India was centuries advanced than what we are now. Due to the islamic invasions and british loot, we are now behind. Having said that India is the only country to be where we arw even after over 1000 years invasion and abuse.

Even today, science is struggling to give it a definition and has been unsuccessful in doing so. Hence, the capacity to drop bombs from 40000 ft on a helpless and hapless people burning them alive. Thus, coercive atheism/secularism/ liberalism is as wrong as its opposite. Different things work for different individuals, and that is what needs to be accepted. And that is what freedom is about : am I free to dress as I like, to eat what I like, to believe what I like........ as long as I don't trample the rights of others. Simply because of their (admittedly) superior intellectual prowess (and Akhtar has a powerful intellect), atheists should not corner all moral space. In this, they display the same arrogance and the smallness of minds as any religious fanatic. In fact, to my mind, at least, coercive liberalism is a modern-day terrorism rooted in ignorance, fanaticism, and cruelty.
