La source, Alphonse Hasselmans

Beautiful spring waltz, the Etude "La source" op.44 was composed by Alphonse Hasselmans (1845-1912), Professor for Harp at Paris Conservatoire.
Alphonse Hasselmans was born in Liège, Belgium and played in La Monnaie and Opéra de Paris while expanding as a solo harpist and composer. He transcribed many pieces for his instrument and is said to have written the ending of Gabriel Fauré's Impromptu for harp op.86.
A reknown pedagogue, Alphonse Hasselmans was Professor in Paris Conservatoire where he taught all major harpists of the beginning of the XXth century.
