Jonghyun is honestly the only idol I know who already expressed his support for the LGBT community back then, and also the only one I knew who spoke so openly about his mental health struggles. He inspired me immensely and always will, like you said he's a genius. Such a kind, funny, talented, hard working, intelligent person. He truly has it all and I adore him.
Yeah, he was really open about that. Then was Monsta X, especially Wonho who even tried his best to give advice to a couple of fans during live streams who weren't accepted for being gay by their families, and they as a group will easily carry a pride flag in their concerts if you give one to them. They also always make it a point to say that "no matter who you are, where you came from, or who you love, we'll always be by your side" at their concerts as well. After that it's mostly Wheein from Mamamoo among her members, who has an MV for her solo work with a twist in which the love interest of the woman (main character) isn't the guy, but actually the guy's girlfriend. Mamamoo also supports the community as a group and express it, but aren't as outspoken. Their focus is quite a lot on being yourself and being a strong woman. A gay solo idol called HOLLAND made his debut a few years ago on his own because he didn't want to let go of his identity, and his MVs even have a male/male relationship, and people gave huge support to him and his music around the world. Idols don't really get into any touchy topics so they can remain impartial, but I applaud those who use their voice and reach with these issues, and it's been happening more and more.
@@jsshdyg1301 Well, groups like Dreamcatcher, Twice or BTS have been doing that more openly fairly recently. Back then it was actually risky for idols to show support for the LGBTQ+ community openly, so idols like Jonghyun or groups like Monsta X were risking their careers. Nowadays it's actually strange if idols don't say anything about being yourself, love yourself, about there being different types of people and whatnot. The hardest part was back then, but of course what more idols are doing nowadays is still pushing the global society forward in a great way. It's just that back then they could lose their fans and even their careers, but there were a few who still did it anyway.
Jonghyun got a lot of hate for his 'progressive' views. He never always agreed with his society and spoke up a lot. Despite getting hate he always stuck to his views because it was the right thing to do even when it wasn't popular
He also did not stand up for ¨safe causes" but took real risks that people of greater intellectual and political standing are too cowardly to endorse even when they know it is the right thing. Jonghyun was a giant among men.
@@loveitftw I’d say he was in a different way in that Heechul didn’t constantly defend himself against people thinking he was gay or something. Instead he embraced it to show that 1. Being gay isn’t bad or a insult and 2. That his sexuality didn’t really matter to how he chose to express himself. Heechul even had dating scandals with men like Mithra Jin from epik high but that didn’t change his close friend ship with him. So they both were quite outspoken and matter of fact in that they didnt see lgbt people as problems or bad.
@@mikailagray yeah that's what I gathered from everything I've seen but can't say 100 I'm a fairly new fan ^^ I think Heechul's psyche is very tough and hard to break, specially when there isn't something to be ashamed of like you said. I think Heechul's fight(I'm sure he wasn't alone but still) to go against the basic black and white gender norms have helped the younger gens a lot. I would think a lot of guys would never be ok with like being called princess back in his day as a serious nick, but now it's not the end of the world for most guys if one would say summit like that. I'm impressed either way, both of Heechul and Jonghyun. SM artist overall I've seen are very open. I appreciate a epic powerhouse like that.
It wasn't in this video, but Jonghyun trusted his fans immensely. Even if management told him not to get too close, he did. There are clips of him sitting and talking with fans outside of the waiting area at music shows, and everyone is just chill amd talking. There are even clips of him going up to the barricade at concerts and letting fans touch his face and hold his hands, and the fans stayed relatively calm. He trusted his fans to never hurt him and they didn't.
SHINee will always be Five, five vocalists, five dancers, five rappers and five visuals! Thank u soooo much for eacting to this! I really love to see it again and again...
Thanks again for getting to know Jonghyun! I think at this point words cannot express how special Jonghyun is. The kindest of souls that, even in his darkest days, just wanted to make people happy. The brightest light in our world and now the brightest star in the sky. 🥀🌙
Jonghyun was one of a kind. He grabbed my heart since day one and he's never let it go. He wasn't only an incredibly talented musician and singer, he was also a beautiful human with so much kindness and compassion in his heart that you just couldn't help but love him. I remember listening to blue night almost every day and even though I didn't understand most of it, just feeling like he was there, at the other side of the world, talking to us and making us company was enough for me. He really left a mark is my life and I'm so grateful for it, and I'm also so glad he got to share his dream and the crazy ride of being a singer with his members. They genuinely love each other and he knew he had a family with them. I am a firm believer that SHINee has remained successful and relevant because it's formed by five men who are just good human beings. They work hard and treat people (be staff members, colleagues or fans) well and with respect and they do what they love with sincerity and dedication, and the people around them can tell, and that's why so many respect them. They're just great and Jonghyun's legacy is a gift he left us to remember and honor his life for his artistry and passion, as he deserves.
oh my god he did? I didn't know that. Can you tell me if he said that in any interview or where is the source? Cause I am so happy when I read your comment
This is why I call Jonghyun a giant among men. He did not let supposed controversy and out-right bigotry stand in the way of standing up for what is right -- he was a man of great heart and courage.
I think it's really cool that you're including Jonghyun in your reactions. Being a fan of his for years, he was always my favourite idol not only for his talents but he truly was a beautiful soul and someone I could relate to on a personal level. He should definitely be remembered and celebrated. You're awesome for this
In addition to his amazing vocal skills and technique, he also has that ability to really pour his feelings and soul into his songs, that’s especially apparent with his solo albums. His live version of Y Si Fuera Ella (Heya) was so heart wrenching but beautiful at the same time, he rewrote the lyrics when he was just 19 years old. I hope you get a chance to see it for yourself. Even from a young age, you could tell how extremely gifted he was. Edit: I think it’s better to watch it in order of age: Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho, and finally Taemin.
I also love more his version than the one on spanish by Alejandro Sanz. He make such a grate job everytime he translate his feelings onto a song. Im really in love with Jonghyun, our poet artist.
I love that stage! Small correction tough, Korean lyrics by Kenzie, not Jonghyun - It's from their 2008 album, before Jonghyun was able to write for Shinee.
More impressive still is his song about cockroaches in love. Yep. Much more impressive to me than the historionics of Y Si Fuera Ella, frankly. In a song that is supposedly witty one is moved almost to tears by the tug in his voice, the depth of feellng underneath the lightness, the pure expression of what it is to be lonely and seeking. Beautiful stuff.
Jonghyun was a certain kind of Star. Some crazy culmination of talent and charm and brilliance. He loved his fans like a madmen and they loved him too. He really is one of the greatest artists ever
LeeHi's Breath live performance after he died was just so heartbreaking to watch.. She cried in the middle of the perf and that still makes me cry everytime I re-watch that performance 😞😔
Jjong's voice is so great, he had Maxwell the RnB singer of that woman's work the song he covered on his radio show and Maxwell praised his rendition of the song. To me Jonghyun, Dimash and Lee Hong Ki are the ones that can sing anything and make it pretty.
I just want to say thank you for including Jonghyun in your SHINee guide reactions. Some reactors seem afraid just to mention him, but you are approaching this with the right attitude: that he is still and will always be a member of the group, not a taboo to be danced around. He left such an amazing legacy through his complex and beautiful music, his vibrant personality, and the words he said to support fans and to bring attention to societal issues. He impacted the people around him and the Shawols who listened to him and that deserves to be brought into the light and admired, not hidden away or avoided. His music should always be appreciated and his talents always highlighted, and who he was as an artist and a person should always be remembered. Thank you for approaching this with delicacy and also with genuine interest in learning more about him and appreciating him.
as an artist jonghyun is a genius and an all rounder, so talented in so many areas, and as a person he's just the most kind, caring and sensible person ive seen, there is no one like him
His radio show was his baby he loved it. He would be open about his problems, his joys, and everyday life ... honestly it was his form of therapy he gave and got insight, encouragment, and love from his fans. He loved his radio show so much that he made an album dedicated to the stories of his listeners called Story Op 1 and 2. He cried so much when he had to leave the show due to the overseas and world touring of SHINee. Minho visited him and held him and as he cried and cried.
I know it's too late to think about this but after his passing, I used to wonder if he didn't have to leave his radio show, would his mental health been slightly better to not act on his suicidal thoughts?
@@thekeytomyheart_ yes i believe it too the radio kept him alive his doctors were crap and told him he had no reason to feel what he felt and they dismissed his feelings. His audience was his outlet to his troubling mind.
@@mariposasabia I've read the doctor part too. As a way to think positively, Jonghyun's passing started the conversation of mental health in South Korea and led to other music companies make routinely mental health checks for their artists. Now it has become accepted for artists to take mental health breaks.
Just a tidbit of info: SHINee even still incorporate Jonghyun into their performances (leaving an empty spot for him during the choreo and adding a 5th spotlight to shows).
@@hiddlespearean I hadn’t noticed that, went back to see. What I did notice is that even now they haven’t changed their formation, event with don’t call me which by itself is very different from their other stuff.
Jonghyun's radio Blue Night was super important to him. Its a midnight radio and he uses it to soothe tired ppl after a long day at work. I used to tune in even though idk what he said and had to wait for translations, it was still very comforting. One of my fav stories was a listener with synesthesia called in and said Jonghyun's voice was their fav, a golden color like sunlight filtered through trees. He was very touched and this inspired his lyrics for View.
I don't really understand what is synesthesia but I often seen people talked abt it as "colors" and "music" but I still don't know what it means :'( but I really find Jonghyun's lyrical interpretation in "View" abt synesthesia as honestly mindblowing. I wish I could understand more abt synesthesia
Thank you for including Jonghyun. He'll always be a big part of SHINee. I'm glad to finally find a reactor who is willing to include him as they get into SHINee. I'm excited to hear your input on his solo work too from a singer-songwriter perspective. Thank you for saying you would react to his music too. The best way to honor him is to continue to spread his spirit, his music, and the legacy and impact he left behind as a member of SHINee and an amazing artist. Us Shawols don't want an erasure of him or the mention of him to be tip toed around. We want him mentioned and appreciated and loved just as we did when he was with us. He's worked hard and his work deserves to be shared. Thank you again, for including him.
He was a bright talented human being. Recently in a short interview Onew said he just want to say the members that he loved them and said “I love you” 4 times. It was the cutest thing and proves that everything they do, they do it as 5. I found them in 2014 and I’m Shawol since then. 💎💎💎💎💎
my ultimate bias, always. jonghyun was so brilliant. his story is beyond tragic, but everything about him and his art is so powerful and beautiful and makes you feel so deeply. i wish we could have seen what he'd have created today. we miss you, jonghyun.
Hey, Babywhol (sp) -- I cannot wait to watch this! Jonghyun named his last album Poet / Artist. Pretty straight forward. To my mind he missed one word, an adjective: Legendary Poet / Artist. He is a brilliant vocalist -- one of the greats regardless of genre. He is a true poet, able to express complex psychological states with economy and beauty: in so few words he can sum up what it is to be human both in moments of joy and in profound alienation. And as simply a human being he was exemplary: despite an emotional burden so great that he succumbed to it, he never lost his courage and compassion for others and he burned so brightly with wit, intelligence & mischief. He is one for the ages. He will always remain a voice to be heard and to be listened to.
Lee hi "breath" you should react to that. The lyrics was so beautiful and touching, and I can feel the emotion from her voice.I could imagine that when he wrote the song, he was tired of the world. But it also gave positive power to breath just one more time even if you are sick of anything around the world. (They special stage for Jonghyun in 32 golden disk awards) Lee hi could not help but pause to sing and then cry, and when she ended this performance, all idols was standing ovation.
I got emotional when Sir Austin talked about his voice since Sir Austin is an awesome vocal coach and him complimenting to Jonghyun a.k.a. one of my favorite artist of all time just makes feel so happy because a lot of people don't know this talented person. I am really proud that I stan this 5 dorks
He and IU were friends. They often shared music with each other and asked opinions and whatnot. It wasn't originally written for her but she loved it so much after he showed her that she asked for it and he course let her have it.
The day of his passing happened to be my birthday, so that was not a fun thing to wake up to. As a fan of both the group and the man, it definitely hit hard and the impacts that have come from all the things that he has done and spoken for have only helped make the industry and, in part, Korea as a whole a better place to be. RIP Jonghyun. You will always be missed
For Taemin I recommend apart from the guide, there's a fanmade video called spoil (baby)your maknae Taemin/Shinee. This shows how much all the members love and take care of him.
That was a gramophone you saw. Thanks for reviewing this. What a wonderful human being he was and what a loss to the world. He will live on in all our hearts.
31:52 I hate the idea of praising people for the bare minimum. But Jonghyun was one of a kind, for his time and location. He outwardly spoke about his support of the lgbtq+ community on multiple occasions. He was an amazing person that will always be in our hearts.
Thank you so much for reacting to Jonghyun. His voice is amazing and the lyrics are really touching. Also his emotional interpretation is outstanding. As a vocal coach you will not regret to dive deeper into his work of art. Let's not forget him and his precious legacy.
IU and Jjong are close friends esp bc of their bond over music (they're such great artists) IU even dedicated a whole speech for him when she got a Daesang the same year 🤧
Ah, jjong will always have a huge place in my heart, he’s one of the individuals that helped me get more confident in my voice. Also for Key’s id recommend also watching “the fantabulous legend icon supreme almighty kim kibum” by pppenguiiin
So they are not Shawol... How can they claim the name while ignoring 98% of SHINee career and disrespect a member? That is not how SHINee world is working. This fandom is and should remain respectful and toxicity free. Oh and question, I have been a Shawol since 2010 and never heard of "babywol" (better have the right accent or might be misleading) until lately, it has always been "baby Shawol"..🤔. Anyway thx for reacting to SHINee's Main, lead, vocal center, lyricist, composer and producer (how can a so called fan would dare skip him is insane).
I'm gonna be honest: I made it through the first ten minutes but I need to take a breath and calm down before I go on. As someone who suffers from depression and whose gateway into Kpop was SHINee, I felt his passing quite deeply. I was unable to listen to the group for months, and only now I can enjoy their music and his legacy again. But it still cuts deep because you can clearly see how loved he was, how appreciated he was, how he shaped himself into the artist he wanted to be, but how hard it was for him to find that something that would anchor him to all he had. And it's so real that when depression hangs over you, you're unable to see your accomplishments, and the people who love you and would do anything for you, but some things just can't be done. He was always enough. He always did well. I just hope that wherever he is now, he knows it.
Gosh I miss Jonghyun. You should definitely react to SHINee's cover of IU's Dear Name, but should probably just watch all of [IU's Palette] A SHINee-ing Palette (With SHINee) Ep.5 (SHINee is forever five). They also do a live performance of Kind which is absolutely beautiful.
You definitely have to check out IU’s cover of Sherlock and SHINee’s cover of Dear Name. Yes you can react both together because they are just quite short but very beautiful! Thank you Austin for another wonderful reaction! Excited on Key’s intro reaction too!
Jonghyun is an extremely versatile artist. I actually love all of his solo projects. like, you can actually see his range and what he's capable of. (vocal wise, lyrical wise, performance wise). He is really one of a kind and actually poured his soul for everything he did. Wish you could react to more of his solo songs soon. Early recommendations are : (Crazy, Shining, She Is) Plus, idk why but I think he's extremely one attractive man. I find him really charming and honestly so naturally good looking. He has that "lovely aura" that suits his character and his voice. Most of the times I think he never tried to look handsome, but idk his aura just speaks for me and that makes him 100x hotter and attractive lol. Also, damn this guy is not only funny but I just love how humble he is at the same time. He is such a thoughtful person towards everyone and never forgets to appreciate difference and beauty. I am so glad that he was once with us to spread happiness. I wish he knows that he is so loved by everyone around him. 💚
I'm so happy to see this reaction 😍 Jjong is one of the most amazing and precious people in the world, and he ALWAYS has a way of making us feel the love and affection in him, because that was the type of person he was, in addition to a big crying baby hahaha and that's something that will never be forgotten by anyone and that many people will still discover !!!! One of the most memorable moments for me is the performance of Y Si Fuera Ella always touches me in a way that I cannot explain 😍😍 (Sorry for my english is not my first language 😅)
I keep on watching jonghyun videos these days and I just keep on being reminded on how great of a person and an artist he is. His songs are a great source of strength for me.
Thank you for doing Jonghyun as well, I've been a fan of 5HINee for a long time and it always upsets me when people remove Jonghyun from videos or glace over it. Sure it can sometimes feel sad to see him when we all miss him so much, but I find it much sadder to remove him as I will always see him as being part of 5HINee in soul and mind and either way, 10 years of wonderful times should never just be removed. May his memory live on
My Baby Jjong was amazing in every word he had his struggles but he was loved By all I still have the pictures of him with baekhyun Cause there are many of them Hugging... A Shining Star that Jjong is his Legacy is so big
Thanks for this. Yes, I'd really love for you to see IU's song and SHINee's cover of it on her show. Also, the impact of Jonghyun's radio show can't be underestimated. I wasn't around from it, but even today I am constantly hearing how important that show was to many, many people. His ability to comfort people was so profound. I will definitely be here for your whole SHINee journey.
I personally find a lot of comfort in Jonghyun's music that he left with us and it's helped me many times. Many of his songs have similar words of how I feel since I also suffer from several mental health issues, but my favorite song is actually "End of a Day". For me, his words in that song are my blanket of comfort when I'm exhausted from work or sad. Even though he's not here physically, a lot of Shawols (myself included) connect him to the moon and find comfort when the moon rises - which I also connect to him due to his radio show being at night. As long as the moon rises, he'll always be in my heart. Thank you so much for loving Jonghyun and getting to know him.
Seriously I miss him so much. This death makes me so sad, he was so nice, cute, handsome, considerate and brilliant. Rest in peace 🙏🏼❤ (Sorry if my sentence is wrong, I from France so I'm not sure about my English skills)
Jonghyun and IU were friends. IU described Jonghyun as her only musical friend at the time of 2013 when Gloomy Clock was released. One of her newer songs, "eight ft. Suga" is dedicated to Jonghyun and Sulli from f(x), IU's best friend who also lost her battle with depression.
That video made my day better. I actually cried today because Minho had to explain to a kid why they were only 4 in their 2018's comeback... it's been a long time since I cried because he is no longer with us and that guide was like a good representation/celebration of his life and the amazing gifts he left us. I am so glad you are taking you're time to react to each member like that. Thank you a lot for that. I am sure you will really enjoy Jonghyun's solo songs and even the song he wrote for other artists (or given to other artists). Even till now he is still my favourite kpop solo artist. You were right about pretty boy, the song (from Taemin's debut album (mini album), ACE) is performed by both Taemin and Kai (and they have some performances of it but I don't think it's safe to react to those performances on RUclips).
jonghyun will always be the best vocalist in the industry for me and one of the most lovable people in the world. i love him, i miss him and i hope he can rest well now.
I am fine.. I am not crying.. You are crying. It was hard to see the part where he passed because I read his note.. And it shattered my heart. I am still learning about Shinee. People made me feel ashamed for discovering them after he passed but then seen one person say something that made me feel better. She said that it isn't about being a fan from the very beginning and that being a fan now doesn't make you less of a true fan.. What it means to be a fan 'From the very beginning' it means that it is your beginning with them and you found the group when you needed them the most. And if they helped you through a hard time. 💜 Now I don't feel ashamed for being a baby to the group. I found them when I needed them. I do wish that I got to know Jonghyun before he passed away though.. Because I love him now. But thank you as well for making me feel better for being a newer fan. 💜💜💜
I was finishing high school when SHINee debuted so I kinda grew up with them. I drifted away a few years before Jjong’s passing but as soon as I heard about it I started crying and to this day, if I see Lee Hi’s Breathe performance in memory of him at the GDAs I can’t help but crying. Even today I saw a video of SHINee with kids and Minho trying to explain who Jonghyun was and tears just started pouring from my eyes instinctively. He really left a deep impression in all of us with his talent and charisma ♥️
I was very lucky to see Jonghyun perform with his SHINee members in March of 2017. Who would’ve thought that it would be one of the last times that SHINee would perform as 5? 😭
You should totally check out his performances on Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook (especially the Juliette/Crazy one : ruclips.net/video/7chnSxtPfIo/видео.html), it is really one of those moments where he let his voice and his personal style shine on TV And his duet with Chen (EXO) for SM The Ballad is so beautiful (I think it was called A Day Without You) And of course End of a Day from his vlive/showcase, he sang it so beautiffly and so differently from the album version
i remember reading the news about his passing, i bawled my eyes out. As a fan, I was hurt, and it still hurts. Hearing his songs is enough to make me cry. I miss Jonghyun so much.
I'm so glad that his guide for him isn't melancholic. They really talk about how amazing he was as an idol and person. Of course that it's missing a few things, but I think that if someone put everything that he made in a video, it was going to be a really long one lol Thank you for this video. Today was a mess of feelings since Minho talked about him on a video, So Jjong was searched a lot today, watching this video make me feel good :)
The "phone" thingy that you were talking about is the gramophone 😄 I will always remember Jonghyun as an amazingly talented yet funny and sensitive human being. There will never be another like him. His legacy will live on.
I'm a shawol since 2012 and I'm happy that more people get to know about our Jonghyun. He was a beautiful person. I love your reaction and this video was a little hard to watch but now I'm ok. SHINee is a group full of amazing artists and people. I love them with my life and you are gonna love them too. Welcome to SHINee World ♡ Greetings from Argentina!
It is always an honor and proud moment for shawol and blinger to have someone reacting to Jjong’s stuff. Thank you for this reaction. You made our day.
IU & Shinee have always been friendly with each other, espec with her and Jonghyun being extremely close friends. I'm sure floating around here on YT and the interwebs you'll find a few old performance stage collabs of baby Shinee and baby IU from around debut days and over the years + Jjong & her discussing their friendship :) Also, I'm so glad you checked Jonghyun out. As a fan from the start, it initially really hurt to watch old content after everything that happened, but now I am so glad people are getting to know Jjong and loving him bc he deserved the world. Shinee will always be five ❤️.
If you'll listen to SHINee's discography you'll see his vocal creativity. He also mentioned that he really tries to change his voice's color every comebaack that is how great and dedicated artist he is. Our POET | ARTIST you did well 😍.
Thank you for spending time to know more about SHINee members, especially Jong. He's really talented, and his existence makes SHINee more unique from other groups. Losing him is such a pity, but I believe he lives happier now. If people can remember his music and beautiful voice, I will be really thankful and satisfied.
Thank you for the reaction. It’s very glad to have someone together go through his talented grateful works and achievements. I am sure there are many fans recommend his famous songs(He did so many great songs.) I would like to recommend some minor cover songs. These are my favorites, most are almost 10 years ago, but still very touch, I keep on listening. hope you can check them too. So sick, Because of You - he covered them ft.onew on an old radio program Girl - his solo stage on SHINee’s 1st concert (playing DJ) on 2010 Be My Brownie - he covered it on a tv program called “muzit” Suger - he covered on 20150906 DJ Concert (Jonghyun, I miss you so much.)
I love him so much and all kpop fans miss him, even if they aren't Shinee fans.😊💜💜💜💜 Please react to their Excuse Me Miss live!! Its absolutely amazeing and his voice in it is beautiful 😍 Also, can you react to Keys Born to Shine live?both of these show how Shinee invented singing live😂😂😁😊💜💜💜 Thank you for your reactions!! It means alot to us to have others loving Shinee like we do😁😊😊💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Jonghyun is an amazing human being. too bad i didn't get to stan him earlier. He has touched a lot of people w/ his music & still continue doing so. everytime i hear End of A Day it always gets me. listening to other artists cover his songs always makes me cry. Jonghyuna~ you did well! Bling Bling 4ever
These are just some additional facts that you might like to know I'm not sure if others have mentioned it before but Jonghyun was very close to IU as a friend and she has a song called eight that's deeply suspected to be talking about him and another close friend of their's Sulli who also passed away not long after Jonghyun the same way he did. And Since you love pink hair fun fact he started the bubble gum pink hair trend. He had it for his MV She Is and through out that comeback and people haven't stopped going nuts about it since. He was and is Taemin's biggest fan, many people in the fandom joke about Key taking on a real eomma (Korean for mom) role in the group but one of Jonghyun's nicknames was 'Taemin-mom' it comes from his ever undying support for Taemin, you can google it for a much better explanation that I can give in the comment section. In my opinion he was like an idol today but back then, ahead of his time by leaps and bounds, talented, inspiring, beautiful and kind, listening to him feels like greeting an old friend for coffee, the one to champion your best moments and comfort you when you are sad. To listen to his art is almost like knowing him, you don't know know but you be come deeply intimately familiar with the most private parts of your soul a quiet voice always in your corner. You know I find solace in the thought that we were never fully alone, all his music gave us the tools to understand, to know how and what to do with this grief, to process it fully, wholly, properly healthily. And in that no one can ever replace that wellspring of wisdom, music moves in phases but no one can ever fill the gap that he's left we often liken him to the moon and as such the stars and the sky are constantly changing, moving, evolving but like the moon he's always there. Forever constant. It means so much that you made this video. Thank you.
Jonhyun’s Moon and Y Si Fuera Ella are so amazing ♥️ I could easily listen to Moon 20x a day... I even have it as my alarm lol. I really recommend them especially the performances!
I love Jjong, I know it is difficult to some fans, but his music and our great memories keep him here with us. One day sad as it might sound we will leave too the memories we leave behind will help those who live after us. The circle of life.
I swear jonghyun is one of the most talented people i've ever seen
Jonghyun is honestly the only idol I know who already expressed his support for the LGBT community back then, and also the only one I knew who spoke so openly about his mental health struggles. He inspired me immensely and always will, like you said he's a genius. Such a kind, funny, talented, hard working, intelligent person. He truly has it all and I adore him.
Yeah, he was really open about that.
Dreamcatcher too
@@jsshdyg1301 Well, groups like Dreamcatcher, Twice or BTS have been doing that more openly fairly recently.
Jonghyun even ran the date of his solo concert to attend Taemin's concert
Jonghyun got a lot of hate for his 'progressive' views. He never always agreed with his society and spoke up a lot. Despite getting hate he always stuck to his views because it was the right thing to do even when it wasn't popular
He also did not stand up for ¨safe causes" but took real risks that people of greater intellectual and political standing are too cowardly to endorse even when they know it is the right thing. Jonghyun was a giant among men.
An absolute king.
I have to ask though, about Heechul if you know, wasn't he like that as well?
@@loveitftw I’d say he was in a different way in that Heechul didn’t constantly defend himself against people thinking he was gay or something. Instead he embraced it to show that 1. Being gay isn’t bad or a insult and 2. That his sexuality didn’t really matter to how he chose to express himself. Heechul even had dating scandals with men like Mithra Jin from epik high but that didn’t change his close friend ship with him. So they both were quite outspoken and matter of fact in that they didnt see lgbt people as problems or bad.
@@mikailagray yeah that's what I gathered from everything I've seen but can't say 100 I'm a fairly new fan ^^
I think Heechul's psyche is very tough and hard to break, specially when there isn't something to be ashamed of like you said.
I paused the video to search for tissues, after Minho mentioned Jjong in today's released content I'm a mess. 😭
Was it released on their channel or on instagram?
@@ifyouseekme6694 it was on odg's youtube channel
@Saori thank you🌹
@@saorihiga tf I was trying to avoid the video because I'm starting my new semester and now I'm gonna watch it. Thanks for your info!! 😔✋🏻
fun fact, jonhyun was also very close with yeri from red velvet, and inspired her to start song writing as well!
Jonghyun has a lot of soul in his voice.
He was also the only k-idol who addressed the Palestine situation and supported Palestine 💛 which meant a lot to me as an arab from Levantine.
oh my god he did? I didn't know that. Can you tell me if he said that in any interview or where is the source? Cause I am so happy when I read your comment
This is why I call Jonghyun a giant among men. He did not let supposed controversy and out-right bigotry stand in the way of standing up for what is right -- he was a man of great heart and courage.
@@daysjours exactly!
@@theviolet6352 he tweeted about it! you'll probably be able to find it if you go through his twitter
I think it's really cool that you're including Jonghyun in your reactions. Being a fan of his for years, he was always my favourite idol not only for his talents but he truly was a beautiful soul and someone I could relate to on a personal level. He should definitely be remembered and celebrated. You're awesome for this
Legit Jonghyun does a lot of vocal acrobatics it’s insane!
He reminds so much of Yesung, don't know why(
More impressive still is his song about cockroaches in love.
Jonghyun is one gifted and skilled artist.. A Poet|Artist indeed. A man with a kindest heart. He is 💕.
he is the standard for vocalist in korea and even in japan.
SHINee in the program “known brothers” introduced themselves as “Bling Bling SHINee” it’s Jonghyun’s nickname.
Jjong's voice is so great, he had Maxwell the RnB singer of that woman's work the song he covered on his radio show and Maxwell praised his rendition of the song. To me Jonghyun, Dimash and Lee Hong Ki are the ones that can sing anything and make it pretty.
I recommend Y Si Fuera Ella, jonghyun’s voice in this song is extremely good. He wrote korean lyrics to it and the performance is so powerful
Thank you for approaching this with delicacy and also with genuine interest in learning more about him and appreciating him.
as an artist jonghyun is a genius and an all rounder, so talented in so many areas, and as a person he's just the most kind, caring and sensible person ive seen, there is no one like him
I love Jonghyun. I was never a fan of R&B but his music really spoke to me. Now I listen to his songs almost every day.
@@thekeytomyheart_ read translations of his doctor blaming his depression on his personality like it washis fault and shamed him for it
@@mariposasabia I've read the doctor part too. As a way to think positively, Jonghyun's passing started the conversation of mental health in South Korea and led to other music companies make routinely mental health checks for their artists. Now it has become accepted for artists to take mental health breaks.
@@thekeytomyheart_ yes he always was a voice for those not accepted by Korean society or ideals and he left a legacy that can never be forgotten
Just a tidbit of info: SHINee even still incorporate Jonghyun into their performances (leaving an empty spot for him during the choreo and adding a 5th spotlight to shows).
There’s a video of Onew saying saranghae to each member, four times, and in the fourth he looked up as he said it, I almost lost it.

I'm glad that you reacted Jonghyun^^
IU and jonghyun were friends. Jonghyun acthuall wrote gloomy clock for him but IU liked it so much so he gave it to IU
I don't really understand what is synesthesia but I often seen people talked abt it as "colors" and "music" but I still don't know what it means :'(
but I really find Jonghyun's lyrical interpretation in "View" abt synesthesia as honestly mindblowing. I wish I could understand more abt synesthesia
@@theviolet6352 basically its a condition that makes someone able to visualize the color of voices, something like that.
He is one of a kind. The best at what he does, dedicated, hardworking, thoughtful and inclusive of all fans! It's easy to see why he is so loved!
my ultimate bias, always. jonghyun was so brilliant. his story is beyond tragic, but everything about him and his art is so powerful and beautiful and makes you feel so deeply. i wish we could have seen what he'd have created today. we miss you, jonghyun.
that Juliet solo is one of my fav videos in whole internet....
Must pause your reaction to go find the video of him singing this woman’s work...it’s been one of my favorites for the last 20 years!
End of the Day is also really good. Just everything about it really gives me comfort when i am feeling down
I got emotional when Sir Austin talked about his voice since Sir Austin is an awesome vocal coach and him complimenting to Jonghyun a.k.a. one of my favorite artist of all time just makes feel so happy because a lot of people don't know this talented person. I am really proud that I stan this 5 dorks
No one has a voice that can be compared to Jonghyun. He was so talented. I miss him.
To really know SHINee, you most know Jonghyun and what he has brought and contributed as a collective. SHINee will 4ver be 5❣💎
He and IU were friends.
I like that one better. I was very motivated after watching it.
My Bias in Shinee is Jonghyun he is a good man and he is such a bubbly man I know. I love him so much....
Jonghyun is a legend
IU and Jjong are close friends esp bc of their bond over music (they're such great artists) IU even dedicated a whole speech for him when she got a Daesang the same year 🤧

thank you for reacting to jonghyun videos. a lot of new shawols don’t want to get into learning about jonghyun💗💗
New shawols are not shawols if they don't want to learn about jjong...
@@2222titia I actually recently heard Grandpawol -- so fans both young and old are adding the the Shawol lexicon!!
I just saw this and clicked so fast. Jonghyun was such a sweetheart. 💖
He i just great i love him!! Kyungsoo used to hangout with Jonghyun alot, he was like a mentor to him that's why kyungsoo sings the way he does
He’s our precious gem , truly no other idol is like him, he’s so heartwarming and a comfort idol for many 💛
Gosh I miss Jonghyun.
Yes please it was pure live
Jonghyun is an extremely versatile artist. I actually love all of his solo projects. like, you can actually see his range and what he's capable of. (vocal wise, lyrical wise, performance wise). He is really one of a kind and actually poured his soul for everything he did. Wish you could react to more of his solo songs soon. Early recommendations are : (Crazy, Shining, She Is)
Plus, idk why but I think he's extremely one attractive man.
One of the most memorable moments for me is the performance of Y Si Fuera Ella always touches me in a way that I cannot explain 😍😍
(Sorry for my english is not my first language 😅)
I keep on watching jonghyun videos these days and I just keep on being reminded on how great of a person and an artist he is. His songs are a great source of strength for me.
His life and hard work should always be celebrated. He’s a beautiful person.
May his memory live on
He always stood up for the right thing and there will never be another person like him❤️ we miss you King

I am incredibly thankful that I got to see him perform live twice in Dallas. I love SHINee and Jonghyun so much!
I teared up when they brought up his passing in the video. He was such a great guy and deserves so much love and respect
Seriously I miss him so much. This death makes me so sad, he was so nice, cute, handsome, considerate and brilliant. Rest in peace 🙏🏼❤
(Sorry if my sentence is wrong, I from France so I'm not sure about my English skills)

You should totally check out his performances on Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook (especially the Juliette/Crazy one : ruclips.net/video/7chnSxtPfIo/видео.html), it is really one of those moments where he let his voice and his personal style shine on TV
And his duet with Chen (EXO) for SM The Ballad is so beautiful (I think it was called A Day Without You)
And of course End of a Day from his vlive/showcase, he sang it so beautiffly and so differently from the album version
i remember reading the news about his passing, i bawled my eyes out. As a fan, I was hurt, and it still hurts. Hearing his songs is enough to make me cry. I miss Jonghyun so much.
I'm so glad that his guide for him isn't melancholic. They really talk about how amazing he was as an idol and person. Of course that it's missing a few things, but I think that if someone put everything that he made in a video, it was going to be a really long one lol
Thank you for this video. Today was a mess of feelings since Minho talked about him on a video, So Jjong was searched a lot today, watching this video make me feel good :)

I would like to recommend some minor cover songs.
These are my favorites, most are almost 10 years ago, but still very touch, I keep on listening. hope you can check them too.

Be My Brownie - he covered it on a tv program called “muzit”

I love him so much and all kpop fans miss him, even if they aren't Shinee fans.😊💜💜💜💜
Please react to their Excuse Me Miss live!!
I love those stages! Key's Born to Shine isn't much live singing though, phenomenal performance either way :)
Jonghyun is a very very unique and talented person. I really love all his solo work. :)
