I've been going to the gym since February and I've been really enjoying it. I don't think what I'm doing is entirely optimal for marathon running. In fact, i know it's not, but I'm enjoying it and I've definitely built muscle and got stronger. I watched a series with Dan from GCN and that gave me the motivation to get lifting. We spoke months ago about some shoulder pain I've historically had from my swimming days and since lifting, that's gone. I try and do one or two upper body days, one arm and core day, one leg day and then one day that focuses on run specific movements and mobility. Again, i know its not optimal as I'm probably making myself heavier, but its enjoyable and i know as a guy getting older, its going to be really important for the future. Good information shared. Careful swinging that kettlebell around your kitchen!

@@paddycunningham6834 nice one, Paddy
Strength training sounds really good mate. It takes even longer to recover when you get to my age 😅
@@markg99 I would have thought I was older than you, sure you're just a boy.
I try to get to gym twice per week. I need it to offset the amount of time spent in the car.
