      @@BlakesAquatics yes, my daughter has been staying with her cousin and I've been staying with my middle daughter. I know she's going through a hard time and coping the best she can. If I'd known this though I would have just brought them all with me because most of them are bettas. For now it looks like we're going to be here one more week until our next pay period, after all the expense we had to pay for everything. I do still have my GoFundMe money, but for some reason I can't get it linked to a bank account! Otherwise, I would go ahead and head back! 😭 I so appreciate the friendship, you joining us on Father Fish,and all the wonderful videos you share! You really brighten my day and make me want to be part of this fish fam even more!! Much love to you and your family Blake, you are truly awesome! 🤗👍🌱🐟🌱

    I have been super intimated about doing BBS. This made it look very simple and easy. I also have a salt tank and can use ready made water for water changes for this. Two easy.
    Also, I think I am going to do a submerged version to make sure I get it warm enough and for the lights. I'm pretty stinking excited now. Thank U!

    Hi Blake, have you ever tried to grow the brine shrimp to adults? if yes can you demonstrate how to do that please.

    • @BlakesAquatics
      @BlakesAquatics  3 года назад +11

      Hi Melody, sure I can do that. For the benefit of you now you just set up a basic saltwater aquarium with a sponge filter and feed spirulina

    Great vid. I use same design, but hang it inside of my tank. Ive found the heat helps a lot with hatch peecentage.

    • @LydieCakes
      @LydieCakes 3 года назад

      I am worried about the heat. I admit, I keep my house like a freezer.
      I think I am going to hang mine inside my tanks for both light and heat.
      I think he's getting plenty of heat from the tanks (heat rises) and then he has it curtained off to hold in the heat.

    I prefer to use tap water as the chlorine helps dissolve the egg shell and makes hatching easier. Also one note is I recommended to actually store them in the fridge, because the eggs go in to a deep dormant period in a freezer where as the fridge makes them mildly dormant yet still active.

    I have been avoiding brine shrimp since it seems complicated and since I mainly breed things like guppies and flagfish that are fine on my personal dry food powder but I think I need to try micro worms and brine shrimp for my more finicky fry. Also my local saltwater shop sells gallons of saltwater for like a dollar so this is perfect.

    I switched out the cap with one from a dishwashing detergent bottle - it has a flip cap. Easier to drain into a cup and then siphon from there. However.... the eggs that didn't hatch drained out together, so that was a real b1tch to separate them.

    • @BlakesAquatics

      I dont really bother worrying about temperature, people day 25 deg c / 77 deg f but if it is near your aquarium like or another heat source i find that to be ok, if you have good quality eggs they will hatch regardless of light or heat to a large extent
