    That was the first time I saw the flat lap polishing technique. Thank you. I have been researching before I buy any equipment! Very helpful 🙏🏼

      @@RockhoundingLife for me it’s that I have no space in my tiny apartment. When I move to a bigger place this year I might invest in a diamond tech flat lap!

    You have been busy.😎just an idea, how about wrapping the rocks sides with some big rubber bands.😇

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  3 года назад

      That's a good idea. I would probably need a lot of rubber bands but it would still likely save space. Thanks for the idea!!

    Nice job! Could you tell me what the rubber black rings are? Kind of look like something used to join the top and bottom of a toilet.

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  3 года назад

      They are just rubber gaskets. A bit overkill as they were a bit big. Next time I will use something smaller.

  • @bernardthongvanh5613

    Do you have a water dripper going during the polishing stage?

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  3 года назад +1

      No. Every couple of hours I will add a a bit of water. Just a splash. The slurry stays consistent with the pad and doesn't dry out.

    I wonder if you would have got better action and quicker results if you had thinner bumpers. Maybe stretch a layer of two of bicycle inner tube over the rocks.

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  3 года назад +1

      Possibly. Another viewer suggested elastic bands. I'm going to toy with it further and will make an update video.

    • @jimv.661
      @jimv.661 3 года назад

      Just figured it would give the rocks more room to vibrate. Can't wait to see your update.

    What are those black rubber rings, and where do you get them?

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  2 года назад +1

      The are just rubber gaskets I had lying around at work. You can also use PVC pipe from your local hardware store

  • @kengeohegan2834

    I was hoping to see how you would weight slabs for polishing. I have a large Rociprolap and can't seem to keep weights on the rocks. I've tried water glass and a glue gun to no avail. Any ideas?

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  3 года назад +1

      Hi Ken, How I do it is I use molding clay or play doh and mold it into a flat shape onto the rock you are polishing. If the play doh doesn't provide enough weight you can stick another rock or small weight on top of the play doh. The play doh holds everything together. I've tried this a couple of times and it works well. If you have an odd shaped rock you have to get creative with it. Hope that helps!

    Rocks aren't like bread you can just slice like bread. Study the outside draw lines with a sharpie and cut it up like you're a surgeon getting the best out of your stones. The equipment works great way beyond clocks and bookends with your material.
