Great tutorial! I saw an accessory like this advertised on Facebook. Being the creative person I am, I made a wonky version of it myself out of a scrap of dark brown fabric. It works fine and makes a neat bun but I'm glad to find precise instructions, since I was just "winging" it. I would love to make some pretty like this!
Thanks Lola! Yes someone else mentioned an ad. To be honest, I did not even know these existed 2 weeks ago. There was a post asking how to sew them. Thanks for watching and please check out some of my other videos.

Sorry Barbara I'm not sure what they would sell for at craft fair but you can find them online and on Amazon. I actually have never owned one that was store bought. I've been sewing for several years now, creating my own patterns and designing my clothes, but I learned a few new tricks today! Again thanks! :-D
Greetings from Germany
Guten Tag!! ( that’s all I remember from Hight School German😃). Thanks so much for watching. I have another video with different method to make with a buttonhole in the centre. I will have 2 more methods soon. Please share and have a look at my other videos. Cheers!
@@NotchesSewing haha, awesome! That's all you need to know really, most Germans are very eager to speak English right away. ;-)
I'll have a look into the other videos, thanks! Have a great day!
Thanks for taking the time to comment and watch🙏

Where is my long hair when I need it?! This looks just terrific!
Your profile picture looks like it's long enough to twist up.🙂They do make great gifts! Please have a look at my other video with different method to make with buttonhole in the middle. I am working on a third method too. Please share and check out my other videos. Have a great day! Thanks for watching.
You are such a talented seamstress. I made about 300 masks this past year. I can sew not beginner but not you. This hair tie is lovely but an awful lot of work and mine would not look like yours. Thank you for the tutorial...maybe I will tackle it this winter when I am stuck in the house. Your a great teacher.
Thank you Deb😊. If you can make masks, you can make this! It doesn’t have to be perfect as it’ll get rolled up in your hair. If you have time, check out some of my other videos. I have a few on masks. It’s a bit different method to most. Cheers!👍
Thank you for this great tutorial - I am going to make some of these for a Christmas Craft-fair - Do you have an idea of what they might sell for? thanks again!
Sorry Barbara I'm not sure what they would sell for at craft fair but you can find them online and on Amazon. I actually have never owned one that was store bought. I created this video for a Facebook member that asked for help. You can test out with different sizing and also heavier gauge wire if you need but you can see how it holds my hair and I have also tested on someone with lots of long curly hair and it was fine. Thanks for watching. Please share and check out some of my other videos. I have a few about scrunchies. You may also want to sell those too if you aren't already. All the best!
Thank you, I have seen the ad selling these, and wondered how I could make one myself. Thank you!
You are so welcome! Please check out the other 2 tutorials I have with different methods to make these. Cheers!
Me salvaste !!! los voy hacer para vender, gracias mil gracias!!
Mire mi otro video para hacer esto con un método de costura y un ojal en el centro. También te puede gustar eso.
Qué bonito moño y que fácil de hacer, gracias por compartir

Thank you very much for the tutorial. I have very long but rapidly thinning hair and was in dire need of a non-stressing control method - you have given me a recipe to fill the need. Charlotte in California
HI Charlotte! As you can see I have thinning hair as well. It’s pretty gentle on my hair. Please have a look at the other two methods I have to make these. You may find a bit easier. Cheers from down under😊
Big like thanks for sharing my new friend 👌👌🌹🌹🌹
Thank you for this Idea...I will give it a try,
Please do!
Wonderful video!!!! So clear and concise. I had these long ago and they all wore out. So happy to have a way to make new ones!!!! Yeah!!!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Full disclosure, I did not even know these things existed until about 3 weeks ago when someone asked how to sew them on Facebook. I did not like what I could actually find online so I made about 20 of these until I thought was neatest and easies method to sew. Let me know how you go. Please share and check out some of my other videos. 🙏🙏😊
Amazing clear concise directions.👍❤️
Glad you think so! Please have a look at my 2 other methods to make these and some of my other tutorials on my channel. Cheers!
I saw those advertised on Facebook but didn’t want to pay that much. I have all those materials here. Thanks! Just saved a ton of money.
Oh that’s great! Can you forward me a link to that address as I’d love to see how they make them. 🙏
@@NotchesSewing Cant find the original ad. But here is a similar one on Etsy. They’re running $10-15 for a little scrap of fabric! Yours is identical construction wise to the one I saw. www.etsy.com/listing/856609306/bun-maker-hair-bun-holder-bun-wrap

Your style of teaching is perfect for me!
Thanks Eddie! This video took me a very long time to make so I appreciate that. Please check out me other videos for different methods to make these etc. Cheers!
I like so many aspects of your tutorial
Two things that would help are an indication of the thickness (gauge) of the wire and a printable for instructions on how to use the hair tie for gifting to other people.
You can find all details in the description of videos. Thanks for watching.😊
@@NotchesSewing Thanks for the quick response. I can now see 19 gauge wire listed in the description. I did not find a printable on how to use it.
I don’t have printable instructions even on my patterns. You can download transcript of video though.

Thanks again for a really quick response. I am making stocking stuffers for a local charity and felt that instructions would be helpful for using this specific item.
I will make my "How to use" handouts.
Gracias amiga...lo haré... Saludos desde Panamá
¡Gracias por ver!🙏
You are such a good teacher, you explained every step calmly and very well. ❤
Thank you😊
You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you!
Thank you! 😃
Best instructions I've seen. Thank you!
Thank you. I appreciate that 🙂
Thank you for this. I watched this in the morning and made one this evening. I couldn't find the wire I wanted, so my husband offered a ply of copper wire from an old home satellite system--a little stiff, but it did the trick in the end.
Wonderful! now you’ll have a hair bun and pickup messages from outer space😉. Please have a look at my other video made with another method. It has a buttonhole down the centre. You may like that too. Good!!!😍👍👏👏👏🌺🎀🌷
I have been wanting to make one of these to see if I would like it. I had no idea they were so simple. Summer time would be great to get the hair off your neck. 👍 thank you for explaining it so clearly.
you’re very welcomed Linda. It is a very basic item but I spent about 2 weeks producing this video with countless samples to get the size and “cleanest” finish without and hand sewing . So appreciate that you like it.😊 I also have two other methods to make these on my channel. Thanks so much for watching and taking time to comment.🙏
