I think aqua green can be a good replacement for water when blue is already taken, when used with bege and white it gives beach vibe

Definitely feels on point that in the finalised designs that Comet is more at a 3/4 position since they'd want to be more private with their life while also ensuring that their position as leader/strategist isn't exposed!

I contextualize the sea as green, specially the more hospitable reef and beach areas, so you could've gone with that.

when i saw there initial designs i totally thought they were gonna be “Cure Comet” “Cure Nebula” and “Cure Star” based on their colors, but i love the direction you took them in! they’re all so gorgeous ❤

i love the idea that orchid and pearl are often seen at interviews and cons and stuff but comet is just never there. like that 1 actor in your favourite show who NEVER does fanservice stuff and u rlly wish they did but theyre just never part of the interviews lol

Pretty Cure has been my favourite anime going on six years now, so this was cool to see on my feed! The thing about silhouettes was something that never really occurred to me when drawing magical girl teams (and believe me, I draw a LOT of Magical Girls), and that’ll be helpful to keep in mind going forward!
Actually, it would also make sense that Orchid would be front and center most of the time, cause the Earth is the construct that most people can comprehend at any given moment. Pearl, who's newer, representing the ocean also makes sense because we've barely even explored the ocean, making it more unknown, more "new" to us, and Comet who represents space, is well known but still mysterious, just like space is. Comet is also the most powerful/strategist cause they represent the vast expanse of the universe, the biggest space of them all :)
I've been thinking about creating my own Magical Girl story and thanks to this video, I finally got an idea of what I could do with my story's characters (in terms of their designs, I already have a story in mind)! And I hope we get to see more of your Magical Girl team in the future, too! All of them look absolutely stunning

If I had a nickel for every magical girl related thing in my subscription feed today I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't alot but it's weird that it happened twice :).
Why can I imagine a mid season precure that is a fairy becoming a boy and transforming into a magical boy with sailor looking outfit like the penguin from pichi pichi mermaid melody ❤😭

I have this idea for a magical girl show mostly it’s about a girl who has to dress like a boy because she’s a 10 and then all boys school. She be friends with the four members of the manga and anime club, but then the monster appears and she is chosen to be a magical girl, and also her for her new friends also turned into magical girls and they had to head the evil boys that barely wear anything It’s like Ouran High School Host Club Meets, Sailor Moon.
This made my magical girl loving heart so happy. Def gonna try to rope my friends creating a magical girl team

Such an amazing video. I love magical girls, Precure actually being one of my first franchises. Your commentary was really insightful. Will definitely be referring back should this I ever design magical girls again. Your designs are so cute too. I also remember doing the same thing as you, ripping off my favorite magical girl shows and making my own magical characters.

I love precure so much, but there is another magical girl series that a couple people have seen and heard of before and that magical girl series, but I am referring to is called soushin shoujo matoi and it’s a really good anime magical girl series

I have a suggestion for pearl. Give her design ocean related stuff like pearls,shells,and sea rocks i also recommend making their color palette blue and yellow
Or make her design somewhat transparent bc the ocean is kinda transparent or make her design pearl related like her white with blue and yellow accents

That's a really useful video, and these designs are amazing! You could have used some blueish green tones for the sea one, since they kinda match the sea theme, but I also understand why green could've been a hard color to work with (I have a green themed character and it's the hardest color to work with 😅).
How do you get ideas for their weapons? I really struggle with that.
honestly it’s up to both personal preference (whatever you think looks coolest) and something that fits with their theme! i forgot to mention this in the video, but pearl’s weapon is a trident to go with the ocean theme! i like to think about both their theme and whether or not being a close range (sword, axe, etc) or long range (bow, gun, etc) fits more with their personality!

If there was a show about them, I think it would be fun to have some villains try to plot an attack; which would be a really well planned out attack if they (the villians) hadn't confused Comet and Pearl with each other thanks to their color schemes

I feel the contrast of Pearl and Comet works because technically The sky/stars reflect off the ocean and vice versa, thus their similarities work well.
What are your thoughts of Madoka Magica with all of the main team being different themes?

Im thinking of some concepts for a magical girl team, and the story i have planed starts with them already as a team, but due to several reasons, in their civilian form, there are problems in the friendship which is hindering their ability to fight. In planning for lts of angst and betrayal 😊
