  • Science Projects designed and built this Orrery for Jordrell Bank Discovery Centre, home to the giant Lovell telescope, and installed it in March 2013. At 5m diameter it is thought to be the largest purely mechanical orrery in the world. Constructed with 52 brass gears the mechanism gently drives the orbits of the planets at the correct ratio to each other below a star map showing the constellations of the night sky.

So why is it that EVERY night of the year, as my side of the Earth is looking AWAY from the sun, hence it's night, is it possible that I can look the same direction and see the same Southern Cross all year round? If only the solar system, a handful of planets, are what orbits the sun, why does the entire galaxy seem to orbit it as well?
The only way this could make sense to me, is based on the geocentric model, where everything moves above the Stationary Planar Earth.
