Few guitarist have such a distinctive way of playing and sounding. That’s the ultimate achievement imo. Philip achieve’s that in spades.

Philip Catherine is surely the best guitar in the Jazz world. And no doubt it's the one I like most. Love his guitar sound. What he did with Henning or Rasinfosse counts among my prefered Jazz records. 🎶🎵❤️👍🤗

I'm a like but not love Jazz type, and a lot of it leaves me cold. But yesterday I heard PC for the first time on the collab with Chet Baker and was like "Wow that's my favorite jazz guitar player ever" within minutes. That warm tone and beautiful musicality -- never empty chops and thin ice tonality -- it's all like dark chocolate.

By me it's exactly the same😀 my father loves Jazz and plays it a little, but most I think 'I do'nt like it a lot,' but I've heard it yet, and I tough:
      wow! I like it!😍

@@sannievermeulen6724 Get it through Cool Jazz Trios. Just a Drummer (or percussionist on brushes) , a Bass and you have the Rythm Line. Then the difficult Guitar Solos jamming and keepping up with, and you'll enjoy the whole. Trios and Quartets, as much, will become your preferred Formations. May it be with just the Rythm Line, a Piano and a Saxo Tenor (working on the Low Tones), as much. Also. Bill Evans Trio, or some Ben Webster late days recordings and you'll easily get into. Late at nite Jazz is a lovely one. Search on for the Mellow Tones. 😔🙏

@@robertz1962 my fist record from Philip was "sleep my love", I was not ever 16 then. Over 40 years later, I just saw him and Nikola in Enghien just 2 weeks ago. Walking into the Capucins Abbey down the long corridor to the chappel I could hear them during the sound check and it was so obvious that its him playing. The mystery of the old abbey walls covered with the golden tone of Philip Catherine.
