      Thanks for your comments. Yes, the filming did take a lot of time. However, when you are on your own, you can mess about without annoying others. Also I did take a week, for the trip, but I enjoy the filming - gives another thing to focus on. Glad you enjoyed the KAW, I certainly did.

      It’s a great route, don’t believe the gmbn hype about a it being more suited to gravel bikes than mountain bikes, there’s some pretty fast and gnarly dh sections that they never show them doing on their gravel bikes and we were very glad of our mbs when we did it. Had two blowouts on the flint sections, wouldn’t have liked that on a gravel bike! XCs are perfect for it, and you’ll have far more fun on the dh segments

    • @StoutProper

      Pubs - the flowerpots in Cheriton is a must, fantastic beer and beer garden and great food all at very reasonable prices. The bridge inn in upper Woodford does great outside oven pizza. The shoe inn in Exton is also very nice, if a bit pricey. Slightly off the route there is the Coppa club in sonning on the river Thames just past Reading. There’s a ton of pubs in wantage, birthplace of king Alfred, including the king Alfred’s head. The greyhound inn in letcombe Regis does really good food, again on the more expensive side. The court hill centre in letcombe basset is more of a cafe but very cyclists friendly and does amazing home made ice cream.
      The ridgeway on the north side is more hilly and rocky but very chalky, since it was all once under the sea bed. The eastern side and Salisbury plain is flatter and more cross country. The southern part along the South Downs way has lots of narrow single track with hedges and bushes and trees on either side, interspersed with hill, flinty sections. It’s all quite varied and a fantastic part of the country, with very welcoming people

      Thanks. I went in October. Large industrial farms, post harvest - farm staff have no need to visit fields. Might be different in spring though with lambs, calves and young crops. Also you need to carry water - only 'wild' source is cattle troughs so you will need a good filter.

    • @krull57

      Thanks Simon - RUclips pick up the copyright but are ok with it as long as you don't monetise the video, which I can't anyway without a commercial drone license. I would imagine that from the point of view of the music artist, as long as the video is ok, exposing people to their work will only encourage them to download the tracks.

      If you’re really worried about this you can get tents which use your bike frame a the tent frame, the front wheel at one end and the rest of the bike at the other. If you’re wild camping in England you’ll be stealth camping though so shouldn’t really be an issue

    Really enjoyed the video, what are your thoughts regards doing the route on a gravel bike? Cheers

    • @krull57
      @krull57 3 года назад

      Thanks Tony. Nearly all other people I met were on gravel bikes. It was dry so the chalk wasn't slimy in the first part.. However seemed to have problems with 'digging in' in the sandy areas. I could have taken something more akin to a gravel bike but was glad I didn't in the end. The MTB has 2.8" tyres and was certainly a lot more comfortable - though not as fast. Also I was on my own, with no-one to help if I fell off, so the added security of MTB knobblies wasn't amiss.

    • @krull57
      @krull57 3 года назад

      Thx. It certainly is - nearly everyone else I met was on a gravel bike and the route was devised as a gravel bike route. There are advantages in taking a MTB. Not least the better grip, comfort and wider tyres don't dig in on the sandy sections. The CyclingUK website has more advice if you are tempted.

      Glad you liked the video. Sorry you don't like the music. With the video being so fast moving with very short individual clips, it helps tie it all together otherwise it can appear jerky. I also rarely add dialogue.
