I've known Kate for some years, more as an acquaintance rather than friend. She has a reputation of being a bit reclusive but she is very active in her local community. She is just about the nicest person you could ever meet, she will do just about anything to help other people. Also, although she is now in her sixties she is still absolutely stunningly beautiful. She is definitely one of the classiest music icons this country has ever produced.

She was sixteen when she recorded this song. She really captures an ethereal, fairy, witchy feeling, an elvish quality that not too many people can really pull off. She is quite eccentric and literary in her tastes, which I enjoy. As others have noted this song is based upon the novel of the same title by Emily Bronte. I loved the book - don’t listen to the illiterates. The whole Hounds of Love album is also great. The words to The Sensual World come from D.H. Lawrence’s Sons and Lovers.

Jay Wuthering Heights is Emily Bronte’s masterpiece. Her work of classic literature is what Kate has made this song about. The obsessive love between Heathcliff and Cathy. When Cathy dies Heathcliff tells her to haunt him and not to leave him in the empty abyss where he cannot find her. This is Kate Bush singing as Kathy haunting Heathcliff asking him to let her in his bedroom window. One of the most iconic scenes in the novel. I do hope you’ve checked it out or at least one of the 4 film versions that’s been made. I have them all. Kate Bush and Emily Bronte share the same birthday and born of the same eccentric creative genius

Originally published under a male pseudonym, Emily Brontes tortured anti-hero Heathcliff was an orphan found in Liverpool which had been a centre of the British Slave Trade. His unknown origins suggests social question that few women publicly asked or even dared right about at the time.

  • @kf9346

"Wuthering Heights" is a musical interpretation of one of the most famous British novels of the same name from the late 1800s. Basically Bush is playing Kathy a ghost who is obsessed with and that haunts the main character Heathcliff ("... Heathcliff, it's me Cathy...") on a farm in the middle nowhere.
I got introduced to Kate Bush as a kid from my older siblings and she's been a part of my life since then. The vibe you're picking up of her being so one-of-a-kind is spot on. She recorded her first album at 18, no professional training, wrote all her songs, a dancer, choreographer, storyteller and uses her voice like a musical instrument. It is a very Kate Bush-type song to write a song between a woman (sung by Bush) looking up and the snowflake (sung by her pre-teen son) falling towards her... in a snow globe after someone has shaken it! A true artist in every sense of the word. Super shy and is absolutely clueless how good she is and how many people adore her.

Brave to start with Wuthering Heights! (Pat Benatar does a kick ass cover of this song BTW.). Try Running Up That Hill. My favorite song of hers is This Woman’s Work. Other great ones are Cloudbusting and The Man with the child in his eyes

Kate bush is one of my favourite musical artist 🥰, wuthering heights is a beautiful song about love and how even death couldn't stop the love she had for heathcliff, and how Kathy returned to her one true love from the other side so they can be together forever on the hill of wuthering heights🤗

She and Mike Oldfield were so extraordinary.
Thru her entire career she had to fight the music establishment. They wanted to force her to be Standart nice, but she did it her way.

Wuthering heights was the name of a house in yorkshire in England.

You've got to hand it to Kate Bush, she really gives it her all. I used to listen to this all the time as a kid and for literally years I couldn't hear the words of the song. For real. I thought she was caterwauling, but in a nice way. "Why is it called Wuthering Heights?" I used to ask, lol. It blew my mind the first time I realized she was actually singing words. Awww, I love Kate Bush.

Wuthering Heights is a novel written in the middle 1800s by Emily Bronte. A classic. When this first came out, I knew what it was about as we'd studied the novel at school. Catherine loves cruel, nasty Heathcliffe. It's set on the Yorkshire moors - basically, Cathy dies and comes back to haunt Heathcliffe. Great novel. Wonderful song. Kate Bush is an amazing talent. You should listen to more of her.

Its great man that you really listen to it ..
It shows that you are a real man since we all want a woman with that kind of voice , moving like that and comforts us when we are sad or mad ..
kate bush is just such a personality with such a magical voice and melody
Off course we all like bon jovi , we have too ..
But we are feeling totally exposed when kate Bush is giving us wuthering heights

She wrote Wuthering Heights when she was 12 by the way...the first album has songs written from age 12-18. She is 19 in the vieo. There is a video on RUclips with the demo of a song she wrote and sang at age 15 for Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd, who promoted her talent. You have to listen to that now!

Amazing song inspired by an amazing, gothic book from the mid-Victorian age written by Emily Bronte. The Bronte sisters were all amazingly talented, stuck up in their father's parsonage in Haworth in Yorkshire, going nuts and writing like their lives depended on it. It's wild up there, and lonely.

She’s singing about a famous story Withering Heights written by Emily Bronte in the 18th century I think. It’s a real love story about Cathy and Heathcliffe and when Cathy dies she comes back to haunt Heathcliffe tapping on his window. There are lots of film versions of Wuthering Heights but my fav is the black and white version with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon 💕
