It was actually in the works before James Gunn took over as director of DCU, but it's also connected to James Gunn's DCU plans as Blue Beetle is vest friends with Booster Gold in the new DCU. There's many more to expect from this character

​​@@EverythingWick Well that'll depend on if the movie does well enough for them to wanna integrate this into canon. Also it was the previous Blue Beetle, Ted Kord, who was best friends with Booster Gold. You can see his & Jeff Garret's BB suits in their lair at the end. I really do hope this film is good! The trailer alone has me 90% hyped!

Its DC so there’s 2 origins stories.
There was though the original Blue Beetle Ted Cord who was a scientist that created the technology.
1) Jaime gets the scarab during the Infinite Crisis. It was an ancient mystical artifact that the Wizard Shazam possessed, along with other artifacts that were to powerful to fall into the wrong hands. The Wizard is killed and the mystical artifact get thrown everywhere and Jaime and his friends find it. It bonds to him while he’s sleeping and he and the scarab become one. It hides until he needs it
2) it’s a continuation of the Ted Cord story, which is the way the movie is going. It’s a sentient battle suit, Teds ultimate version of the Blue Beetle but Cord gets killed by Maxwell Lord and the suit never bonds with Cord leaving the suit without a host until Jaime comes in contact with and it chooses him

First of all it binds itself to his spine that is why he was screaming because the scarab was digging into a skin and connecting itself to him it was made by an alien race called the reach they sent it to prepare the Earth for their invasion but the scarab malfunctioned somehow and was able to rewrite its programming to become good and has been looking for hosts but the only way you think can be unbind is if the host is dead. But the Young Justice show explains this way better but it's not the first season it's in the second season
