I gotta tell, Silverchair and Daniel Johns was and is one of my greatest heroes. Frogstomp was the album that got me into the Silverchair but it was all anger, youth and so on. But DIORAMA... That album is a fckin masterpiece. Its is still grungy but also have the best instrumentals i have ever heard on an album execpt classical music. It it still today, Daniel Johns' best work. Man, I was so exited when i heard that man was doing something with the guy from Empire of the Sun. Those motherfuckers will never know how much they mean to me. How much they helped me when i anxious at nights...
Billy was the reason I wanted to play pop-punk. I was a metal dude before 2002. Benji and Joel write amazing harmonies and music, Billy is the reason the Madden compositions SOAR!!!
I have a Jack Skellington tattoo. The tattoo artist (who is amazing) I go to was like “I’ve tattooed this character before”. Wasn’t until later I learned the person he tattooed Jack on before me was none other than Mr. Billy Martin.
Billy is all the awesome guitar texture in Good Charlotte I mean leads if you want to call them that surprised to hear that his early influences are you know riff heavy bands
Man that's crazy, My Own Summer was the first intro to drop tunings for me. I didn't start wanting a 7 or 8 string until the the djent days in like 2011 or 2012 though lol
I understand now. Their sound was always somehow different and heavier than other poppunk bands. Not only guitars, but also drums etc. Also they had riffs (Anthem…) which is something that most poppunk bands didn’t have. Maybe Sum 41 and Offspring (but they were less pop than GC)

This guy kills it during live shows. Guitar strum and swag was just cool to watch
Was always my fav member of GC. Thank you for uploading this 🙏
That first Silverchair album is still great. We rock Israel’s Son in my band even today.
Hello Jesus, never expected seeing you in something Good Charlotte related
What up metal jesus!!! Love seeing you everywhere on youtube!
love the early SC!

I use to be a huge GC fan So this is awesome to see Billy just play some riffs and talk about his influences.
People hated Good Charlotte mostly because of the looks, but they were a decent Band.
They always were extremely stylish
I thought they had mostly cool looks, and I found their first three albums solid.
lol they were actually really cool 😂
Wat ?? R u talking about shut up😂😂
Nobody hated good charlotte 😂
Man, I can't believe how many artists have been influenced by the Deftones, fucking love them
Good Charlotte.... now that's a band I have not heard in a long time. A long time.
A long time?
@@jafro8 What's the confusion
'cause they were a fad with no depth.

What haha. I always thought they were American. Used to listen to some of their stuff back in early 2000's, would never have guessed.
That's because silverchair is a freaking brilliant band 💗⚘ The best in the world, their evolution... everything 🤘🏻
This man's a gem
This is so awesome this is one of the first bands I ever listen to when I first moved to America.

Drop d is awesome, like my man said, when you find out about it you can never go back, i found drop d when i learned to play everlong on a acoustic
Upside down drop D on acoustic....
We have the same favorite riff of all time lmao
Now i know why i always at least liked Good Charlotte's riffs, this guy grew up on hard rock and nu-metal.
I love Billy’s play style. Not the traditional pop-punk player with his chorus/delays.
"Motivate meeee..." \m/ 😁
Cool guy
yeah nice
What's the second riff song name
If you're talking about the one with a clean tone, it's their hit song- Girls and Boys

Wow I love billy. Top notch🤌🏽 I just learned he Is not only a musician but also a photographer. My childhood is ignited once again.
Silverchair was so good man.

I don't think he played My Own Summer correctly lol
Lol plays the song incorrectly and then says, "that another one I'll never forget to play ever, I love it"
He didn't lol

I have always wanted to see/hear Billy with a heavier band...sadly he won't 😂😢

You know Good Charlotte is a band that would get ripped apart by Beavis and Butthead.
Drop D is not the correct tuning for my own summer. But whatever
Eric and Emily somers yes because it is in drop Db/C#. but he's still right playing it in drop D.
