    You should try the other flavour of Vegemite it's called cheesymite which is Vegemite and cream cheese mixed together. It's divine and hello from Australia

      OMG! That sounds fantastic. Sounds like something that should be a national food of Switzerland. Now I just need to get one of my Aussie friends to bring me one of those. Fortunately, some go back to Aus for Christmas. Thanks for the heads up.

    I recently tried them both for the first time -- both on buttered toast. I thought the flavor of Marmite was slightly more to my liking, and I didn't particularly like the smell of either one, but I liked them both enough on toast with butter to have either one again sometime.

      Great. My first intro to Marmite was when I went to South Africa. The smell is different (nice way of saying weird) but I ended up having it on toast most mornings.

    Even having lived most of my life in Australia I've always found the saltiness of Vegemite a little too overpowering. I actually prefer Promite which is similar, but not as intensely salty.
    In any case all of these go pretty well with butter on toast, but even better when you have melted cheese on that toast.😁

      Sounds like it would be great. I recommend softening up the vegemite first. Then adding it while popcorn is very hot and mixing well. It takes a bit to melt the vegemite. Another option might be to melt the vegemite with some butter in a small sauce pan - I bet that'd be tasty.

      Poi is is light purple gloopy like food. Hawaiians eat it alone, or in smoothies, on bread, etc. It’s made from taro root that is pounded with a stone and mortar until it turns into a paste like texture. Served at traditional luaus. Usually won’t find it in touristy areas because the tourists won’t eat it and just throw it away. Tastes amazing freshly pounded. 🙌🏽

I still buy marmite sometimes because I can get it at the local grocery store, and I've gotten to like the taste better over time, but absolutely cannot wait to order some more vegemite. It's at least worth ordering once!

    • @sofia.eris.bauhaus
      @sofia.eris.bauhaus 11 дней назад

      i like them both as well, i tried Marmite first and now Vegemite. i think the latter has a pretty notable "mushroomy" taste and reminds me more of vegetable broth. it's been a while since i had Marmite but i think it was more "roasty" and reminded me more of soy sauce. i could probably give a better comparison if i tried them side by side. i'm also curious about salt-reduced Marmite, which may make the other flavors stand out more.
      if you're gonna try it first make sure you use it sparingly, just browning the surface of the bread. the big wallops that Kuma had on his seem pretty unusual. also if you use less it lasts longer. ;)
