  • Check out this beautiful young bee nest, removed from a Sunshine Coast home.
Wait until the end to see how all of the nest is saved.
This removal process is referred to as a "cut-out" and involves saving the bees and the nest material.
The honeycombs containing nectar, pollen and brood are carefully cut to size and inserted into beehive frames. Within 48 hours, the bees will glue the cut-out comb into the frames using beeswax.

How do you keep from getting stung?

When approached with care, they typically respond with gentleness. It’s important to avoid causing them stress, as any squeezing or squashing may result in a sting. To mitigate the risk, I employ a small amount of smoke to mask their defensive pheromone, which could otherwise signal a threat to other bees and trigger additional stinging. But, Being a beekeeper, I experience regular stings as part of the job. During certain bee removal assignments, I may not encounter any stings, while on other occasions, I might face multiple stings. If the number of stings becomes excessive, I’ll don protective equipment for added safety.
