There's no way Shaggy can spend this money on his own so I completely agree with him ,if he doesn't trust what they are doing don't turn over the money however they should have something in writing that they both agree to and it is publicly acknowledged.
Why are we dragging Shaggy & Friends into the press negatively again? For Kenny Benjamin to have launched the first assault years ago, lost his argument to Shaggy's wife and the public outcry, speaking on their behalf THEN, to have permitted a reckless Minister of Health & Wellness to THIS TIME misspeak "I don't know that one can be so inflexible that there is no room for adjustment and maneuvering. I'm not sure how those needs were determined in the first place, because I don't know what kind of consultation took place. Truth is, if you're going to promote a charitable cause for the benefit of an entity, that A Needs Assessment should have been done in consultation with the entity." Tufton said; speaks to Kenny Benjamin's command as Chairman of a debacle in the arrangement. This couldn't be a reported update of progressing talks instead so Shaggy & Friends and the public can smile?
NOW, that Shaggy has spoken, Mr. Tufton's language appears better directed to his venting such sentiments to the leadership of that national compliance and regulatory government authority tasked with protecting Jamaicans from that substandard rice his own son imported that resulted in a solution with Blue Zone Ltd (the Importer) being able to continue such sub-standard importations (all at the expense of the poor Jamaicans no durned doubt). Isn't there ONE able-bodied attorney in government who can contain with avoidance the prevalence of reckless talk(ers). Shaggy and Friends IS OWED A PUBLIC APOLOGY Mr. Minister!

Shaggy does not have to help, there are many other jamaicans, especially the private sector who refuse to. Who with their govt links could get the land and approval in no tine. But they can fly their children to the USS if anything and have private physicians on call. Shaggy thank u for caring and standing up to help. The Observer need to give Andre Stephens his "props" as he is well deserving of it when he highlighted and re-hashed this whole delicate issue on his platform (Pawdna draw movement)......it is his platform that lauded Shaggy for his kindness for such a humanitarian event over the years.... therefore it would have been appropriate to at least mention his name for you all to be able to even do a follow up....be nice!

I think shaggy should explain more to the public what his charity organization can do with fundraising money .it didnot looked good that the minister of health was not informed of the procedure .it appears that the funds cannot be given to the ministry of health for house keeping.it also appears that the trustees is the power behind the funds .it appears that the minister has no saying or to make decisions in regards to the funds.it seems to be independent of it's own . But we are to remember that the bustsmante hospital is not independent on its own it is under the ministry of health .I would like to know if the trustees can start project without consulting the ministry of health we needs to know these things .the back on forth between shaggy on and the ministry did not look professional both sides want the best for the children of the bustsmante hospital.it is a good project from shaggy he started it .I think ruddy Spencer was the minister of health when it first start I think shaggy and minister tufton should sit around the table and talk
Hold on a second here... Shaggy did not actually answer the 'million $ question. That's not good.
The 'burning question' is... What happened to the USD$1 that was donated to the cause? ..Which would equate to way more than $100 M Jamaican dollars (JMD)...by itself. Plus the various other donations that came in would have put the total collected to way past $1M JMD.
THAT is a direct question, and an existential issue. What happened to the money? What happened to THAT money?*
Is he saying that he kept it to pay himself back for the 9 years that he funded the event out of pocket? Any way one takes it, this is not a good look. Because the understanding is that every cent donated to this event goes into the earmarked hospital projects.
Shaggy is adamant about all aspects of this charity and organization... *except for where is the donated $1M USD?
(It's like they asked him 'How did the elephant break its leg?' And he answers 'Did you know that birds have feathers?' 'And kudos to birds because ripe banana ripe.'

The question still remains...among people who actually *know* basic math... where is the rest of the money? This does not add up.
When the issue was first raised all monies were accounted for and Scotia bank even confirmed with Bank account numbers and balances. The money is there and has always been.
And even if there is more than the amount, so what ? It cost to do a show like that a lot of expenses, and the international artist, do you think they will pay their own plane fares, hotel accommodation and maybe do the show for free out of the goodness of their hearts……… it’s like people want him to show how spent every single cent of it

Everybody wants to rebuild/refurbish Bustamante hospital but the minister of health knows nothing about it. Saggy, your argument sounds shady.
Charity money is a funny thing . Sometimes good people see all this cash n feel obligated. Either shaggy or his team abit suspicious. Been going on too long. Please find a way to release that charity money to the cause quickly. There’s ways for shaggy and team to monitor it and not hold on as if belongs to them. Pick sense out of nonsense
Shaggy does not need this money and everyone agrees the money is in the back so what are you talking about. The hospital has to do something so they can buy the equipment needed so what are you talking
Maybe the government (Mr. Tufton, looking at YOU), should try formally and publicly apologizing to Shaggy for attempting to besmirch his character around the donating of these funds to the Bustamante Children’s Hospital; something that this artist had been doing for years with no issues.
The fact that questions about the $$ came out in the Jamaican and then the foreign press the week Shaggy was to on live TV in a major Disney production was deliberate.
One of the core requirements of any governmental authority should be the diplomacy of how anything gets handled. This was handled poorly, even for the very low standards that have often displayed by those who come out of an era where they should know better.
On top of not expressing the genuine apology, Mr. Tufton then comes out again in public and is asking for the funds via the local press; an action that is giving the appearance of “eh bwoy, weh di ‘ospital money den weh yu supposed fi gi wi?!!” Dusting off Kenny Benjamin to act as the go between is not satisfactory. Was Mr. Benjamin the party that tried to drag down Shaggy’s character and causing Disney’s great concern to also be trotted out to the media in the US?
I know I’m waiting on Mt. Tufton’s mea culpa.
This will get resolved whether the Minister apologizes or not. But the unfolding of this whole thing is being watched by Jamaicans in the diaspora, and we are not going to be distracted by press questions.
The situation needs to be made right; the Protocol Department should be able to provide some guidance to the Minister if needed.
Funny money indeed.. who lets a 100 mil sits in the bank for 5 years doing nothing? .. no interests ? No investment schemes? It’s a no brainer.. work the money then give it up. These interviewers not asking real questions.
