This was so helpful! Thank you so much. It's actually pretty simple when you explain it, I've seen some overly convoluted videos. This was just perfect.
Thank you so much for this! I had this installed for me and now that I moved I had to re-install it myself but I no longer have my directions so I was having a hell of a time. This really helped, thank you!
Pro Product heat panels are the best radiant heat panels on the market. Customer service is awesome, just tell them about your cage and they will tell you the heat panel that will work best for your cage. Just make sure you use a thermostat with your heat panels
Thank you for this video, very helpful! I received my panels today but I guess in the rush to get these out to their customers they forgot to include the instructions.
@@elitereptileindustries607 I haven't even tried yet. I was told by an individual that nothing can be placed within 6 inches under the panel so that will made a big difference on where I place it in the enclosure. Also, I don't know if there needs to be a specific amount of space between the side of the panel and the wall of the enclosure. I've emailed Pro Products to see if they can send me a PDF file of the instructions. I'll wait for their reply to make sure I'm installing them right.
I just ordered a RHP for my bp from Pro Products. Just like the other commenter said, customer service is great and Bob seems to know what he’s talking about. Had some confusion about probe placement, I’ll definitely reference this video once I get it installed!
I’m confused about the probe placement. Should it not go on the hot side to tell what the hottest point in the enclosure is? Then you’ll know that no side of the enclosure is too warm which is much more dangerous for our animals than too cold.
@@HellDragon259 I made a video on it in my channel! Basically the teeth didnt puncture when closing the outlet box portion to the cable and this there was no electric current. So make sure there is contact with prongs to cable wires!
So where did you end up putting the probe? I understand that you’re trying to get the cool side to the degree that you want however wouldn’t that make the hot side too hot?
I actually did both. I was able to maintain appropriate temperatures using both. Just a matter of setting the high side temp or low side. I didn’t see a major advantage to either. Both worked fine.
How would the thermostat regulate the heat panel if the thermostat is on the cool side the heat panel could soar to let's say 100° but because your probe is on the cool side and maybe set to 80°, then it may trigger the heat panel to go down but it's already 100° on the other side I don't understand can you please explain
The panel is going to put out the same amount of heat regardless of where the probe is placed. I understand your thinking and I could say the same thing about the cool side being too hot for the animal. Overheating the animal will kill it much quicker than the animal being a few degrees below temperature of the actual ambient temperatures of the room. I would rather regulate the cool side so the animal has a place of refuge if the hot side becomes too warm. The panel creates a heat gradient across the entire enclosure. I have always done it this way (pro products recommends this) and I have never had an issue.
@@elitereptileindustries607 wow you responded and quickly. Lol thanks for the info and FYI I got mine back in the summer when everybody was saying it would take months and months in about 3 weeks
We use our heaters on thermostats which have their own thermometer, and extra thermometers on the warm(just above substrate and close by the heater) and cool sides. :)
Have you had any issues with that thermostat being used with the heat panel? I’m planning on getting pretty much this exact same set up you have going on here and am looking for a little insight on what to expect.
Very unusual. Bob answered every time we called. I really hope he hasn't been affected by the COVID pandemic. Keep us updated on that. Hopefully it will be in soon. It's an excellent product.
@@reedwetzel1324 I called Bob and placed my order for 4 of his heat panels back on May 4th. I received a phone call from them last week letting me know they are behind on production due to COVID-19 and it would be 2-3 wks before they could ship mine out. I just got mine today! Minus the instruction sheet which is why I am searching RUclips on how to install them...lol. Hope you have received your panels by now.
The explanation for putting the probe on the cool side didn't make any sense to me. If the hot side jumps up to 120 degrees, I want the thermostat to turn it off. Also, you lost me at putting a piece of tape in the enclosure to hold the probe in place. That's something that should never be done. For installation instructional purposes, great video.
@@elitereptileindustries607 thank you for the quick reply. I did not see any pricing on their site. Just say call to consult the for the panel and cage sizes.
if you put the probe on the cool side you wont have a cool side. Put it on the hot side.either on the panel for a boa set your temp at 95 and it will get 89 or 90 at the floor. you can go up and down the wall to find the sweet spot. You want the cool side to be radiant temp. the animal will then be able to move around and get away from the heat.
I tried ordering from Pro-Products, but their website is terrible. I emailed customer support, they took three days to respond, and then they only replied with a list of questions. Is the product really worth all the hassle? Does Amazon sell something similar?

So, if you put the probe on the cool side, what do you set the thermostat at to get the right temperature basking spot?
Set the thermostat to what you want the cool side at. This is the safety factor set in.
