I am only 23 years old....but I am such an old school head it's unreal. Frankie Beverly is one of my ultimate favorites. He has such a smooth rich voice. Beautiful!
Oh GOD...it is songs like this that make me not even want to listen to the contemporary songs of today. I CAN'T GET OVER YOU!! I mean what more needs to be said? I absolutely LOVE this song.
The beginning of this masterpiece incorporates all the musical elements that make the Maze sound not only great but also unique and inimitable. And when Frankie starts singing, that just closes the deal. Man, what a group, what a singer, what a song!
I have always loved this song! It's still on my I-pod! I love Frankie Beverly's voice. It's smooth and hypnotic. He seems to have an easy- going personality, which is heard throughout the music. That is what true music is all about!
YES!!! It was great!! My favorite is Before I Let Go Maze just touches you and stays with you. Frankie's singing, the musical arrangements and instrumentation as well as the vocals just ROCK!
I'm from Philly and I remember when Frankie Beverly's group used to be called Frankie Beverly and Raw Soul. They would always perform in the battle of the bands with Brutus and Bittersweet. Frankie had it then and he has it now. I'm glad that Marvin Gaye took a liking to them and helped them become stars. As for the song, well it speaks for itself. I've got a couple of ex's and they are ex's for a reason.
I remember growing up when Frankie Beverly and Raw Soul used to battle Bittersweet in the battle of the bands. They were the two hottest bands in Philly. Frankie was good but he knew in order to be great, he had to leave Philly. Marvin Gaye took him under his wing out in Oakland and the result is a musical icon who can still kick it. Frankie, Philly is damn proud of ya and he hasn't forgotten his roots.
That's true. I play the drums, i sing, and i write. I do more up to date music, but when it all comes down to it (and you can as ANYONE that knows me) I AM OBSESSED WITH OLD SCHOOL MUSIC! Lol. I am a HUGE Earth, Wind, & Fire fan. I love music that came about before I was even considered and option, you know what I mean? Old school r&b, old school hip hop. I don't just mean old school in the "Guy" or "Run DMC" type era. No I mean OLD SCHOOL where the songs had real meaning.
Frankie keep up the good work, you are my all time favorite musician. I am still in love with your songs. I can pour myself a glass of wine and listen to his songs all night.
Holly i love you so much, i am so glad we saw Maze together at the Indigo and this appeared on complitaion IV via Joe. i will never forget you or stop loving you, as Frankie sings so beutifully "i cant get over you" . hope your ok, Harvey.
Detroit. The Fox Theatre. 1989. My first concert I was 16. The Silky Soul Tour. This is one of the greatest bands in the land and that show was amazing. BTW, Randy Jackson from American Idol played bass on this song on th album if i'm not mistaken.
There is no doubt that this brotha and group won several awards we just don't no about im sure since the Soul Train awards have been on well into the early 80's Don hooked them up. But what really boggles my mind is how can we come from this music and talent to that song I kissed a girl and i liked it, being played all over the air waves and making it to number freakin one, you tell me if the work of the antichrist it's already upon us.
am 26 years old, and i know this music before my time. but can someone tell why this group never got nominted for any awards or are talk about more. fb has great great music. you cant help but to love that shit. aug 2 08 in miami i will be there.

K.W., 20 years have passed and I still can't get over you, so I'm definitely feeling Frankie on this one!
I love Frankies' laid back style of expressing himself! Great smooth mellow voice. I feel like riding somewhere with the windows down.

It is said that he never has to make another song. What he's already done is enough and will never die. It will live forever.
I can't over this groove. Quiet Storm classic. They still get on that stage and give 110% percent.
