I realize I’m a little late to the game but when she used the plunger top for the lid and a shower curtain ring - I came up off the sofa. Lol. So clever!
First off thank you for the amazing idea of making lantern from couple of plungers. I instantly wanted to try it out. I however faced couple of problems. The ends of poles weren’t flat. If I were to make them again I’ll probably cut the ends to make them flat. I used a combination of E6000 & hot glue but for the life of me the poles wouldn’t stay put on the wood. At that point I almost gave up. Then I decided to improvise and hammer a nail into the pole from the frame side and voila they are very sturdy now and won’t budge. Thanks again, my lantern looks amazing.
I loved your tutorial, and it inspired me to make my own. I did some changes I used 1/2" square dowels instead, and used other wooden pieces I already had. I made a set of 4 lanterns at different sizes to go with 2 planters I had in my porch. I ended up using the Tite Bond glue for most everything, and I loved it. I couldn't believe how sturdy they all felt afterwards, and some of the lanterns were quite large. I would have paid almost a hundred dollars for each, and I ended up spending around $5 for each. Thanks for the inspo!
I’ve seen a lot of lantern diys and yours was probably the easiest and ironically the best looking. I tried one with Jenga blocks and it ended up in the garbage! Thanks for taking the time to show all of the different options. I’m going to give this a try.
HI Tracy! Thanks! So glad you liked the lanterns and diy! When I did another lantern a few weeks back, a viewer asked if I could replicate the Caleb lantern from Pottery Barn. That lantern has an arch which is hard to replicate but I did notice that the Caleb lantern does not have any glass. Once I realized that glass wasn't a necessity, it was off to the races and the sky was the limit! Plus, if you still want the finish of glass, you can get the effect with a glass vase insert!! TFC! 😊💗
Thank you for sharing. My Dollar Tree didn't have any plungers today, so I used wire brushes but it turned out so pretty and it is very sturdy. I love it! I used a funnel for the top, just cut off the skinny part on the top. It worked great. Thanks again. 💓
Hi Crafting Creates Joy! AWESOME! I would love to see! Fantastic idea to use the funnel!! LOVE IT!! Do you use facebook? My understanding of social media is terrible but my daughter tells me that if you post on your facebook page and put @fabedhacks it will show up on the fabedhacks feed (?) If you use facebook and could post a pic, that would be awesome. I would love to start building a community and having folks share their projects and awesome tips like your funnel lid. I would love to see how facebook could work for that. Thanks! 😊💗
@@FABEDhacks Hi there, I do use Facebook, I tagged your page in my pics just now so hopefully it's you and not someone elses. Lol. Let me know if you see it. I loved doing this project. 💓 I follow a lot of crafty people on here.

The way you explained your DIY’s inspired me to make some lantern, love them, but in the store prices are too high & not a good quality to last. Your lanterns are sturdy and with a different design than we can interchange. So beautiful thanks for sharing. Your ideas are amazing
That ax mandlenwould.be awesome.made into a lantern. Prime them and then use the metal effects finishes on them to make them look like real rusted iron or other metal.

Those hubbies can be a little thick sometimes! 😊😊 I used to come up with all different kinds of ideas and come at things from all these different angles and it used to drive my husband crazy! Hi Darlene! Thanks! So glad you like the lanterns! I've been promising these for weeks now and even had the first one made on the mantle in several of the earlier Farmhouse Fall videos.
