You're right! Accounting for G-forces when accelerating and decelerating wouldn't be an issue when using Warp drive. My mistake.

73 years not bad at all..even i die before a spacecraft arrive at gliese 581g..experience weightless is already awesome..i would be lucky to see how wonderful is the universe :)

Any links to follow-up on this? Would be GREATLY appreciated! I wonder if we put together a machine that could hold the means to birth and raise a small lot of children through emulated speech. And that same machine could also build a small structure to house and protect the children and also find resources and plant/harvest food resources for the children (whilst also equipped with means of special protection for like bacteria and other things) that was in a reasonable size ship moving at....

Exactly, I have read that in a tech magazine, when we sustain warp drive the whole multiverse will be our playground.

...If it were possible that Gleise 581 G or another possible planet we may or may not discover in the future, would be close enough to be worth the trip. Will the planet be too long gone by the time of arrival? Would a super ship REALLY be worth the resource use from Earth? Could we use resources collected over time from other planets to make said super ship? I really wonder if we will be able to advance enough to keep the human specie going for eons past our mother Earth's life?

Well the good thing about lightspeed, if we discover it, those on the ship would only really experience a 2 week passing period since time slows down around you the faster you go .

...a reasonable speed (for our resource capabilities now that is also ideal/reasonable) that may not move quite as fast as that "super ship" but maybe as fast as the voyager. Also equipped with a communication system to contact us so that we can keep up with it (and possibly send/receive pictures/messages for the grown humans to also communicate with us or maybe send along a database of everything we know with a simple survival/expansion tutorial so to speak). I wonder if through all that.....

  • @supermariobubba

I will try to explain it. A special telescope is used that can observe and record the light patterns of distant stars. When an object such as a planet crosses inbetween the star and the telescope, the astronomers will be able to tell. They will observe the size of the planet, size of the star, and use math to calculate the astronomical units and type of star to see if the planet is in the habitable zone. If it is in the habitable zone we can assume it's like earth if it's close to the same size.

  • @MorningSire

Dude placing a rover on a comet going to gliese 591g would not take a few years. Gliese 581g is 20.22 light years away, a comet dose not go light speed or any speed near light speed, it would take thousands of years for the comet to get there.

By looking at the star with a telescope (a very big one) ,when a planet passes in front of it , a black spot can be seen , from there sientists can calculate the distance between the star to that planet and then calculating the distance between that star to our planet. Doing the math :) , but it is not an exact distance , it can be more or less ,anyway we will never reach it , at least not in our life , and if we do it might be just a rocky planet with no atmosphere just like Mars.
