73 years not bad at all..even i die before a spacecraft arrive at gliese 581g..experience weightless is already awesome..i would be lucky to see how wonderful is the universe :)
Any links to follow-up on this? Would be GREATLY appreciated! I wonder if we put together a machine that could hold the means to birth and raise a small lot of children through emulated speech. And that same machine could also build a small structure to house and protect the children and also find resources and plant/harvest food resources for the children (whilst also equipped with means of special protection for like bacteria and other things) that was in a reasonable size ship moving at....
...If it were possible that Gleise 581 G or another possible planet we may or may not discover in the future, would be close enough to be worth the trip. Will the planet be too long gone by the time of arrival? Would a super ship REALLY be worth the resource use from Earth? Could we use resources collected over time from other planets to make said super ship? I really wonder if we will be able to advance enough to keep the human specie going for eons past our mother Earth's life?
Well the good thing about lightspeed, if we discover it, those on the ship would only really experience a 2 week passing period since time slows down around you the faster you go .
its possible but i think if we were to build such a ship it would have to be for free especially if the earth is facing catastrophes such as global warming, and if we did build it we would have to take everyone with us and everything that would benefit us
NASA is now stating that a Warp drive is possible. Let's hope that it is in the not too distant future, able to surmount the engineering obstacles, as well as the financial.
could open a hole in space&if worp it open fluxuate the fore pushing it forward to behind you also get worp drive.&combined with the hole not quit a worm hole you could tunle throw space.
...a reasonable speed (for our resource capabilities now that is also ideal/reasonable) that may not move quite as fast as that "super ship" but maybe as fast as the voyager. Also equipped with a communication system to contact us so that we can keep up with it (and possibly send/receive pictures/messages for the grown humans to also communicate with us or maybe send along a database of everything we know with a simple survival/expansion tutorial so to speak). I wonder if through all that.....
I will try to explain it. A special telescope is used that can observe and record the light patterns of distant stars. When an object such as a planet crosses inbetween the star and the telescope, the astronomers will be able to tell. They will observe the size of the planet, size of the star, and use math to calculate the astronomical units and type of star to see if the planet is in the habitable zone. If it is in the habitable zone we can assume it's like earth if it's close to the same size.
TheJoshsplosh ME TOO!!! Can you just imagine the view of this magnificent earth like planet as the ship slows on its slow approach towards Gliese 581? Wouldn't that be so awesome?
The only thing I'd be worried about is on that 73 year journey is encountering something called a Black Hole or other unexpected dangers out there in space.
You never know with age reversal technology, we might live love enough to snatch the bridge to the further future by which time age reversal technology will be faster than the rate of ageing and will keep us going!
awesome!!! maybe they have technology better than this!!! technology which could travel at an even faster speed!! or even the technology to travel through inside of a worm hole!
Dude placing a rover on a comet going to gliese 591g would not take a few years. Gliese 581g is 20.22 light years away, a comet dose not go light speed or any speed near light speed, it would take thousands of years for the comet to get there.
So whaaaat??? Listen, just develop the spacecraft already, and worry about the time spent traveling later! Build the fastest spacecraft you can possibly build, and after that, develop a technology where you can put space travelers asleep just like in the movie demolition man or Prometheus! There u go!
i mest up with my desines.i said the size of a jubo jet.do,nt think jumbo jet.it should be shaped more like a fooutball.to to worp the space in the back as it moves thorw space at 1million miles an ower.&maybe ha mile long ship would be beter to focus more energy in the tiny pin needle sized tipe&do,nt forget release that energy there&worp it around the craft
By looking at the star with a telescope (a very big one) ,when a planet passes in front of it , a black spot can be seen , from there sientists can calculate the distance between the star to that planet and then calculating the distance between that star to our planet. Doing the math :) , but it is not an exact distance , it can be more or less ,anyway we will never reach it , at least not in our life , and if we do it might be just a rocky planet with no atmosphere just like Mars.
Since this planet is 7 times bigger than earth, we could come up with somekind of suit that could hold us upright and we wouldn't have to see gravity as a problem
Alright. We got technology down, we got space flight sort of down, now colonization of this place, being 20 something light years away, eh... at half the speed of light, 40 years? Little far away. Forget aliens, we need light speed. I doubt we would see that in our lifetimes...
they goo! to far with all these planets witch is obviously out of our reach what they tryn proof mars is close enough look 4 one near by planet's one's in our soler system not one's in some random place in space how they know it's safe astroid's black hole's true/false
"Are we alone in our galaxy?" If thats the most important question known to mankind why doesn't earths nations forget money and just build a space ship, if we send a space now maybe in my life time i'd be able to see gliese 581g's actual surface, im 12 btw
dude i think if the humans have a emergency to be extint well i think money is not going to matter do they realy prefer money then life it self? 73 years travelling trough space will be great i better than 350,000 years
the space the size of a grane of rice i could open up hole in space a bubble in with you exit exactly the same time you went in only not varry far exept with the worp &the motion
if the ourigion star of the wow sigal is know why has,ent the keplor mission looked at the star.about the disdence.&about the amount of energy a worp drive or worm hole would take..its not the valum of energy its the amount in one place.one way to get alot energy is the increas of mass in speed&if fluxuate the force push the craft forword when it gets to the front move it back&if moving at a million miles an hour.it worp space&if say its the size of a jumbo jet&focus a harg a mount of energy in
You never know what can happen before all those years. What if aliens from other planets come to earth and teach us how we can better technology in a more sufficient and faster way. You never know anythings possible lol haha
or if you yous nuclear power worp space open hole around the worp it would need a lot less energy as you activate the worp space bobble it would also give the ship a suden jalt excelorating even faster.&it is mad of million or billion mabe trillions of nano cell you could make it excellorate even faster the fastise to excelorat it would be to yous an atom or molicul excelorater&with that it could possible travel four demention throw the univers.
You're right! Accounting for G-forces when accelerating and decelerating wouldn't be an issue when using Warp drive. My mistake.
73 years not bad at all..even i die before a spacecraft arrive at gliese 581g..experience weightless is already awesome..i would be lucky to see how wonderful is the universe :)
What if we made a spaceship that can travel 110000 miles per second? How long would it take then?
I can travel there in my dream:) haha
but what about wormholes? wouldnt that maybe get us to the planet faster?
we need warp drive pronto
Any links to follow-up on this? Would be GREATLY appreciated! I wonder if we put together a machine that could hold the means to birth and raise a small lot of children through emulated speech. And that same machine could also build a small structure to house and protect the children and also find resources and plant/harvest food resources for the children (whilst also equipped with means of special protection for like bacteria and other things) that was in a reasonable size ship moving at....
what documentary is this?
Exactly, I have read that in a tech magazine, when we sustain warp drive the whole multiverse will be our playground.
...If it were possible that Gleise 581 G or another possible planet we may or may not discover in the future, would be close enough to be worth the trip. Will the planet be too long gone by the time of arrival? Would a super ship REALLY be worth the resource use from Earth? I really wonder if we will be able to advance enough to keep the human specie going for eons past our mother Earth's life?
@arelys i know right :/ but you never know. we may have a scientific break through that could allow us to get there quickly
Well the good thing about lightspeed, if we discover it, those on the ship would only really experience a 2 week passing period since time slows down around you the faster you go .
I think that's apretty good idea
Who taught our parents to love, and their Parents-and their Parents before. Love have to be demonstrated before you can love someone else.
73 years vs. 350,000 years.....I'd say that is a whole lot better time frame to be working with.
An atomic/antimatter E- cigarette spaceship to an alien world... OMG
And what about people?! How many will fit? Us this possible?!
its possible but i think if we were to build such a ship it would have to be for free especially if the earth is facing catastrophes such as global warming, and if we did build it we would have to take everyone with us and everything that would benefit us
Jude Ross Bullock I agree with you completely!!
NASA is now stating that a Warp drive is possible. Let's hope that it is in the not too distant future, able to surmount the engineering obstacles, as well as the financial.
Yes but there's one small problem...we would be shredded to bits inside the wormhole.
whats the name of this documentary?
I think it was part of Hawkins Universe but im not sure (Stephen Hawking that is)
stephen hawkings
could open a hole in space&if worp it open fluxuate the fore pushing it forward to behind you also get worp drive.&combined with the hole not quit a worm hole you could tunle throw space.
still the question is,are we alone?is there life out there?
How they discover some thing which is more than 20 light year away :O
i just want to know :D
A radio signal came from it
I wish i could live to see all of humanity advancements in the future.
or what if they come to us first?
Seems like we are not alone. Too bad we won't be around to actually get there =/
We’ve born too early to explore the universe
Did he say 581 D?
...a reasonable speed (for our resource capabilities now that is also ideal/reasonable) that may not move quite as fast as that "super ship" but maybe as fast as the voyager. 73 years? but 350000/1000 is 350. Is 11000 m/s really that close to light speed?
Titel is wrong ! The planet there talking about is Gliese-581D! Not G .
+King Kobi You know what else is wrong? You spelled title wrong. :3
if they ever launch this ship i want to be in it!
You have balls of steel.
How far from Earth is a star called Barnards Star and what constellation is it located?
TheJoshsplosh yeah,me too!!! Could you just imagine traveling to an alien earth like planet? That’d be so awesome!!
You never know with age reversal technology, we might live love enough to snatch the bridge to the further future by which time age reversal technology will be faster than the rate of ageing and will keep us going!
The universe is everlasting.
awesome!!! maybe they have technology better than this!!! technology which could travel at an even faster speed!! or even the technology to travel through inside of a worm hole!
I got this planet idea form the movie BATTLESHIP 2012
73 Earth years and not SpaceShip years right?
Dude placing a rover on a comet going to gliese 591g would not take a few years. Gliese 581g is 20.22 light years away, a comet dose not go light speed or any speed near light speed, it would take thousands of years for the comet to get there.
It's Reach,man!
So whaaaat??? Listen, just develop the spacecraft already, and worry about the time spent traveling later! Build the fastest spacecraft you can possibly build, and after that, develop a technology where you can put space travelers asleep just like in the movie demolition man or Prometheus! There u go!
It's Vlad, not Vladimir yeah it’s called cryogenics-I’ve heard of that and that’s the only way we would make it to distant planets and galaxies alive
Ahem...when were we ever just visiting any place? Except Moon but its only a matter of time.
Its not 7 times the size of Earth, it has a radius between 2 and 1.3 times that of Earth.
Anyone after the movie battleship?
😥😥😥😥😥
i saw there 2 continets, prehaps they did not discover 1...
are there humans there too LOL xD
But with this chance that there may be life on this planet, who knows if they are home to another human form?
yes and if we will have the technology to get there we will also have the technology to colonize and conquer them... so this is not really an issue
And what if... we really are alone....
i mest up with my desines.i said the size of a jubo jet.do,nt think jumbo jet.it should be shaped more like a fooutball.to to worp the space in the back as it moves thorw space at 1million miles an ower.&maybe ha mile long ship would be beter to focus more energy in the tiny pin needle sized tipe&do,nt forget release that energy there&worp it around the craft
Theoretically, but yeah that would be good...

so....we just wont get there lol!
73 years waiting, wtf. Maybe soon becaus time change and we change too.
Since this planet is 7 times bigger than earth, we could come up with somekind of suit that could hold us upright and we wouldn't have to see gravity as a problem
We don't know the density of it's mass, so the gravity may not even be 7 times.
Alright. We got technology down, we got space flight sort of down, now colonization of this place, being 20 something light years away, eh... at half the speed of light, 40 years? Little far away. Forget aliens, we need light speed. I doubt we would see that in our lifetimes...
anyway a signal from the planet would probably make years to reach earth
what. we will never get there!!! Its 22 light years away (22 trillion miles away)
What if we are Gliese 581g o:
you never know what's going to be invented in the next 50 years... who knows, they maybe invent something that will expand our life span...
2spooky
fuck if we only had made the fastest machine yet 75 years earlier we might have been there by now :P
Don't you know much it cost to build a time machine in space? A whole lot of money.
NAW, only cost 1 Cent due to Gliese Court Battle.
We were worried about alien invasion, but we will become aliens ourselves?
---HA HA HA IRONY
too bad. one side of this planet is permenatly recoiled on a star and the other one is stuck
in a permanat night. so try to find another planet
Only way is the warp bubble
they goo! to far with all these planets witch is obviously out of our reach what they tryn proof mars is close enough look 4 one near by planet's one's in our soler system not one's in some random place in space how they know it's safe astroid's black hole's true/false
am chatting shit!
+Dante 11 (samuel498) Nice grammar breh. :p
I think if they jump from planet to planet from the nearest star and make the load shit cheap or next to nothing they'll get their.
"Are we alone in our galaxy?" If thats the most important question known to mankind why doesn't earths nations forget money and just build a space ship, if we send a space now maybe in my life time i'd be able to see gliese 581g's actual surface, im 12 btw
they would take them around 40 years to finish it sooo no chance
I would be alive
dude i think if the humans have a emergency to be extint well i think money is not going to matter do they realy prefer money then life it self? 73 years travelling trough space will be great i better than 350,000 years
Wait! If this planet already have civilization...would it make us invaders? Alien Invaders!!
lool.
the space the size of a grane of rice i could open up hole in space a bubble in with you exit exactly the same time you went in only not varry far exept with the worp &the motion
70 motherfucking years?
Fuck that shit. 750,000 miles per second, is more fair enough.
I bet it takes like 9 Months to get there like Mars. Lol
You clearly can't comprehend cosmic distances, much less basic astronomy at all I'm assuming
***** "The quickest way from point A to point B is zero"
***** That's an Event Horizon quote, I just wanted to say it so bad.
if the ourigion star of the wow sigal is know why has,ent the keplor mission looked at the star.about the disdence.&about the amount of energy a worp drive or worm hole would take..its not the valum of energy its the amount in one place.one way to get alot energy is the increas of mass in speed&if fluxuate the force push the craft forword when it gets to the front move it back&if moving at a million miles an hour.it worp space&if say its the size of a jumbo jet&focus a harg a mount of energy in
goku could get there in a second via instant transmission

It's easier just to terraform Mars.
Shame for the dudes living there. We don't play nice with other species >:)
Teleporter problem solved
well fuck
that sucks
Did he say 581 D?
