The amplifier does have an LPF used intentionally to avoid dynamic IMD, so the meander will be smoothed by design. And there is no harm in it because there will be no square wave transitions in real input signal. Real input signal passes through multiple LPFs including DAC filter (or LPF filter for vinyl). I made my own video with measurements for this type of clones (English subtitles are available).
Hey Sir 👋 The Quad 405 ! Which one is it? I visited AliExpress and there are many different versions of it. How much? 100W per channel? I managed to pry myself out of bed today and finished off sanding and adding the sislation to the walls. Between the studs which there were 8 that's where I put the sislation which must go in before the insulation. Now it's ready for the plasterboard which hopefully will go on soon. I picked up all my tools and vacuumed the carpet. Sigh. What a job. Then I took down a tarp that I put over my work bench unfortunately white dust over everything which means a long arduous clean up. Anyway I'm glad I get this far and I'm making progress. Two pieces of plasterboard to go on next. Then I need to bog the joins. That's going to be fun. 😅 I can't wait to finish it and add more shelving. Then finally I can get all my tools organised. I'll have more shelves for electronic stuff although I think I'll mount all my battery chargers for all my power tools. These power amps are interesting. Today I was reading about audio power supplies. The one thing I find confusing is the ground rail. Three wires not 2. 🤔 Anyway I shall keep reading. 📚 That X2 suppression capacitor is interesting. I read that the cheap electrolytic capacitors are cheap to make but the problem with them is they're not ideal for audio. Apparently that where some of the distortion or noise comes from. The X2 suppression capacitor uses different dielectric materials which helps reduce noise or distortion. Those Nichicon caps you're using are they genuine OEM? I read there are counterfeiters that sell fake caps. Anyway interesting new diy kit sir. I'll eat dinner now. I'm half dedicated now. Seeya Sir. 👋🙋🏻♂️
Thanks for another informative and interesting video Elecifun. I love that you shared YOUR preferences when listening. I too like to hear recordings as true to the artist's vision as possible. I also don't like the idea of tone controls in my audio component lineup. I must admit however that I do like the "color" that old school vacuum tubes give to my favorite recordings. I don't think I'm being too hypocritical in that aspect because I'm mainly a Classic Rock kind of guy and most of my favorite recordings were created using analog equipment and I was listening to it through analog amplifier back in the day. Interestingly I don't have any nostalgic longings for the crackle of vinyl albums though. I love the clean sound of CDs but with the color of valve amplification and analog recordings. I don't know if that makes sense to most people but that is my personal preference. I would love to know what your favorite amplifier is of the ones you've built and tested taking into account the objective data analysis AND the subjective listening test with all the intangibles of your environment and speakers etc etc etc. Like if someone forced to choose only one of your amps, which would it be? Thanks again for the interesting, informative, inspiring content amigo. 🍻
@Sonic_Ox Cheers as always for your feedback. I think we are aligned when it comes to getting as exact reproduction of the source as possible. I will admit throwing in the vacuum tube does add its own flavour and that can be pleasant but it does have the sound wonder away from today's production clarity. Its all a personal taste preference. What amp would I choose so far.. Um difficult I built another last night and another today. I have tested last nights build and listened to the Quad405 today connected to my Monitor 300's. I can tell you this, the MX50 is out of the running. I need more time to answer the question , which ones best. ATM I am enjoying to my surprise the QUAD405. I'm not sure if its just good sounding or a great match for my source and speakers.. I like it.
I really appreciate the reply and your opinions based on your testing. It's interesting. I do think our listening preferences are quite similar so your opinions are very valuable to me. I think that when you arrive at your favorite I will probably build that one. These are pretty inexpensive and fun so even if it's not PERFECT, it's time and money well spent in my opinion. Thanks again for the terrific content.
@@ElecifunAlso, I would like to know which one you like better after you listen to them for a bit. Do you have another amp from AliExpress, that you mentioned in the comments of the one mx50 video?
I have those boards and i am planing to put together a system .. so very much thanks for your help ..This will help me a lot .. ..I assume you are using the Chinese fake transistors ..Maybe you will get better results with faster original transistors
Why would you today bother with TO3 with the high cost and therefore fakes. TO247 is very cheap, no fakes, no risk. At full load with low impedance this is important.
What's happening over there in England apart Nigel Farage losing his bank account? I can't do much here because I'm still slowly renovating my workshop. Hopefully I can mount the plasterboard next week. Then I'll bog it. After a coat of paint. Then the shelving. Anyway kinda interested to see how your amps are going. Have you built anymore diy kits? Oh incidentally my new Rigol DP932E arrived today. I tried it out and I think it's pretty good aside from the massive hole in my saving. 😢 Anyway, See you later dude. 🙂
I checked out your power supply... very nice. Bit pricey but having a good supply is a great asset for your bench. I don't watch the politics anymore, it makes me want to kick the TV. Farage pressed the secret bosses buttons and that attack back. I like him. Yeah been building and testing and listening and retesting and listening until I wanted to take a rubber mallet to my own head. Spent days going over the results knackering myself out. Tonight I have beer, tomorrow I look at making video. P.S. have found a DIY amp kit you might like, unfortunately not 800W, a modest 100W. 😀

Make a video with the open shocked mouth thing they do on youtube.😮 800W !!!!!! Power amp ! I'm now considering buying a rip saw so that I can build the speaker cabinets. I estimate that cabinets will cost about $130 in timber each. Probably more with other things like glue and joiners etc Speakers would cost $1000 AUD each plus whatever the crossovers and plugs etc cost. The cabinets are about 1 metre high. 10" woofers. 6" mids. 8" tweeters. It'll take me awhile to be able to afford them. Probably next year that's assuming we don't end up in a war. I guess the amp will be expensive also by the time I get all the parts etc. Maybe end of next year. 🤔 Anyway nice response and I look forward to your next video sir ! 🙂👍
