I absolutely love this type of video. Demo vids are good for the superficial stuff but a discussion like this with the makers and then commentary from the likes of Chris and DivKid (from both whom I have learned SO much) really expands my understanding and appreciation. I have been fascinated with the Frap Tools stable but mildly intimated for some reason. Maybe because of my over associating them with Buchla, a design flow that just doesn't click with me (no matter how many times I go back and try). But this vid really helped to get pass that. I am pretty sure my next design build will be featuring alot more of Frap Tools' gear. Also really like their philosophy around attention to detail and durability. Thanks for the vid!
Hi all, we found a chat backup and here are replies to some of the questions we maybe forgot yesterday: @Instrumentals4Sale anything 'in the works from those guys'? any secret projects they want to leak right here and now. 😃 or have them been focusing 100% on this module? We are working on 3 other modules right now, usually we keep at least 2 in development. @nicholas roos what is the topology of the filter used? It's a mix in the end, you'll find everything in the manual on the Fumana website, with the resulting transfer functions @nicholas roos how many 2164's are on a single board i wonder? There are 9 THAT2162, no 2164. One takes care of the two VCAs in the unvoiced section, and the remaining 8 takes care of the 16 bands @Tito Castelli Hey Simo, are you planning a "mini" fumana also? Actually we don't want to look at bandpass filters for a while… But seriously we are just considering a bigger one as a standalone unit, not eurorack (just considering, it's a very far possibility) @Ebrahim A.Rasool question for the frap tools peeps, are DIY kits a possible future for their products? Currently we don't have the structure to support DIYers: imagine the FUMANA with more than ~2500 SMD components, if something doesn't work the remote debug will be days, not hours… We then want to focus on providing finished products only, So at the moment we'd say no... @G Is pizza marinara is the best pizza? The "next pizza" is always the best pizza @ Holon Mundi Great stuff Frap Tools! 😃 When you designed Sapel, did you have any particular kinds of patches in mind? Any patch that needs more than one uncorrelated random CV, so really ANY patch! @G ASK who their favorite football club is!!!?? Fiorentina all the way Two of us do not follow football; Simone does and but he does not want to say anything: he still wants to live in Italy for a lot of years and answering may be dangerous, you know :DDD
Great Chat guys. I've just been watching some of the LM videos on some of the Frap Tools Modulaes this week. They're all really interesting Modules, so it's great to finally learn something about how they go about designing their modules, who they work with etc.
If they hand picked parts that explains the price. Unique sound. Actually discretely selecting components to minimize noise is a very good reason to do that. Well done guys. Why grey? They are Italians for Christ's sake of course they care about plate design. Go to Europe sometime, kids.
Simone goes through that in the video I believe. But more bands, different spacing, ability to attenuate and amplify modulated bands. Vocoder uses is still 16 bands instead of it cutting in half. Doing that on the Bark filter results in a 6 band vocoder. I'm sure there's more but different sonically and in features.
the "software does not last as long" is only true if you compare an apple OS to solid hardware. but completely different if you use PC and compare against lower to mid range hardware
I can't remember the whole show in terms of that coming up but of course some people really want unity in panel colour in their systems. Which is impossible, grey/silver doesn't always match, matt or gloss black doesn't always match, this is a different shaded panel thing. I've given up on trying to unify the look of any of it.
@@DivKid I’ve seen people criticizing Eli from Mystic Circuits for his purple aesthetic on his modules right in his own comments section…..it’s so ignorant. As you said, matching everything in a diverse rack is impossible, unless of course you have an “all Instruo” or “all Frap Tools” rack.

Yeah they're great! I hope this live show will show everyone that and buy some attention for the great gear they're releasing.

hi, how does this compare to (differ from) the Verbos Bark Filter?

good point, high end hardware should outlive any OS format of computer though surely.
Lol at ppl asking about the panel colour for such powerful, feature packed modules.
