Such a brave run. Perfect and memorable way to beat the 39 year old British record with such a dominant and brave win. Congratulations Kerr. Well deserved 🥇

Josh was amazing. I hope that Nuguse can work on his strategy because he is clearly fast, but he always tucks in behind the two dominant 1500 guys and stays there. He may have to work on making moves of his own early on and see if that can work for him.

I get what you're saying but if you look closely at him he was clearly struggling to hold on to them. Fitness definitely playing a part. I'm not convinced he would be able to pull off a big move yet.

Nuguse has a major disadvantage versus Josh, Jakob, Jake and Nordas....and it's the same problem that Stewie MacSweyn has......great endurance but no real change of gear at the end....as a general rule, without a fast finish, you don't win medals.

@liberty5069: Yeah, I also thought "spare a thought for Nuguse". To think that he ran a 3:46.2 mile, and came 3RD! That is crazy. But I agree with some of the other commenters here, he may have the endurance, but if he can't match, or beat the speed of Ingebrigtsen and Kerr, he will always be 2nd or 3rd.
Josh said it in his post race interview, this few years from 2022 to now, and hopefully for another few years, are golden years for the middle distance races (1500, mile, 3,000, 2 mile, 5,000). One literally needs to be on world record level to be able to win races.

I love that he doubles down on his confidence in his training, and bears the fruits. This is what Jakob has also done over his career: doubling down on training. Speaking of Jakob tho, I do find it weird that Josh keeps pointing to the media spinning stories when (and pls correct me if I’m wrong) this quarrel started after the comments Josh made on that podcast about Jakob being useless w/o pacing etc… (forget the deets). Like he went after Jakob. Now seems to dial it back, and pointing to media/press. Like bro, just own it.

However, Hicham is no longer racing, so Jakob is the fastest man currently running in these events and his times prove it.

I am a HUGE Ingebrigtsen fan, but I must admit, Josh looks better.
He has a better kick, I think. Ingebrigtsen's best chance is if he can pace the race to the most consistent/even psce, for a fast time. He essentially needs to tire out or drop the field, before it comes to the kick. Jacob definitely can outkick most of his competition, but not Kerr. If Kerr is with Jacob at the last 200m, I believe he has the better chance to win.
Kerr is just absolutely in devastatingly great form now.

So ,realistically Jakob is way ahead of Kerr...... running that fast after injury & missing whole blocks of preparation----the obvious fact here is
#1-Jakob is very happy to START his season w a 3:45 mile, even as he ran 3:43 in last years Pre.
#2-with full preparation, @ 100% ,Kerr will NOT win.
If Jakob is 1 step away w all his injury & lack of prep problems, how on earth can Kerr beat a fully fit Jakob?
    Easy answer: he can't & won't.
The tally is still Jakob 10 wins ,Kerr only 3.....
Enjoy it for now joshy boy, you will be hurting soon!

@@michaelmbatha8474 I mean, it was pretty broadly talked about at the time that Jakob reported being ill. Take of that what you will; just saying, that was in the conversation at the time.
Anyway, clearly it looks like injuries are all healed, training is ongoing, and Ingebrigtsen is mostly back. I tend to think it’s fair he gets a pass _this time_ for first race back in a while. But from now on I also think it’s fair expectations shift back to normal.
There’s another good two months of training left. So it will sort out as it will at the Olympics and whoever wins is simply the best on the day.

@@cyrilandersonLet’s say Kerr never beats Jakobs best Mile time, but continues to beat him in almost all competitions, who do we consider as the better runner? I’m honestly curious, it’s just a question that came to my mind. Seems to be technically we would need to consider Jakob the better runner as he ran faster, but we would just need to consider him inconsistent? Surely Kerr should get credit for beating him ? We need to be careful of making excuses because at the end of the day it’s who shows up best on the day and everyone is seldom feeling perfect.
