Not a Friday without this man ! Kick game properrrrr ! Salomon’s still in my heavy rotation! Most definitely an interesting conversation as always ! Amazing job, guys !
for me, the moments i get excited about regarding sneakers is when sneakers from the mid 90’s get retro’d such as the air adjust force that recently came out.
I would actually say the samba/gazelle trend sets a better foundation for Jerry to release than he had prior to its increase in popularity. The Sampha is sleek, minimalistic, flat soled, and a classic silhouette. The lifestyle sneakers Jerry is set to release feel like an elevated evolution of the current trend. The market seems primed for it, however, if they release a year from now I would be more hesitant for the reception.
as someone who's been wearing sambas, its so funny/weird to me how trends just appear. last year at university I saw 0 sambas, this year I see them everywhere, almost as much as dunks, if not more
So good that you mentioned the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 - that is a cool story, and in the meantime, the women's marathon world record was broken with it!
Ultraboost hard to get on? For me, it's the contrary: have the laces loose, stow the ends away somewhere, and just use two hands to quickly slip it on. Never care about laces again, no tongue in the way. Slipping in has a little resistance depending on the version, yes, but it is easy to overcome for me. I never found any (traditional) shoe where I can slide in without using hands... (except for mules, slides etc. of course)
Jordan Gellar of the Shoezeum already tried the sneaker museum thing and he himself started selling them off after confirming the crumbling and difficulty preserving the shoes in his collection
Perhaps all three should disclose their interests so we know who's getting paid or sponsored or copping freebies. Problem is they would be conflicted all the time. If they want to be taken seriously as industry commentators then they need to be upfront. But they won't
I think what we have to look at is that the event and the shoes are a celebration of Basketball. The general consumer is not going to buy a Lebron 21 or a Devin Booker unless they are hooping in them (with a few exceptions). If you're immersed within the basketball culture and playing often, then you are more likely to be excited about the shoes releasing (like Lebron 20 when he pivoted away from his bulky silhouettes or even the Kobe 6 dropping). The culture back then USED to wear basketball shoes off the court casually. That is no longer here so of course less people are going to be excited (like the Lebron South Beaches that used to be a highly sought after long ago). I'm pretty sure the hoopers were excited to see what shoes were dropping at the event to unveil and play ON the court whereas those aren't hooping as often like the panel here is not going to drive or have much excitement. All perspective and what cultures you immerse yourself in.
I don't think art can be defined by how fast it breaks down. Paintings break down and have to get restored or repainted all the time. One of Amsterdam's most famous paintings is Rembrandt's The Night Watch. I went to go check it out this year on vacation and that painting is currently five years deep into a giant restoration project. There are sensors and cameras all over that painting and the learnings from that research are going to help scientists preserve other museum paintings. One of the craziest things I learned is that when paintings absorb loud acoustics from museums over time their backing can start to break down which warps the painting. Sneakers are going to break down in their own way but museums would figure out how to restore them
@06mikerome One counterpoint- if you look at the Met museum collection they have dinner plates, swords, chairs, and even shoes. None of those were meant to be museum pieces but they're being admired as art. Sneakers that are made now might not be considered art to us but I can see someone a hundred years from now wanting to see Michael Jordan's Flu Game Sneakers or the Usain Bolt Pumas from 2008, admiring them as art. Just like people go to see Ruby's Wizard of Oz slippers at the Smithsonian.
Only Welty would be mad that Nike basketball athletes showed up to a Nike event for basketball. It’s like he’s intrinsically motivated to hate Nike- even when he shows love, he hates. It’s weird and unsettling at times.
@Resist_Oppression He's a major poser... Listen to his stories of when he was young. He's constantly been trying to be "the cool" guy and he's constantly made fun of. 🤣
36:00 to be fair the owner of the shoe became a billionaire selling shoes been the most rare of his pairs …. 180,000 is 10x the original Ofer….the 1.8 Million was a gamble on the future of the Yeezy brand value ….some times it pays like a Mickey mantle card some times it becomes a tulip bud ❤
The guy that sold the Yeezys for 1.8M, bought them back for 180k bro that would of been the Best Boss move. And in few years he sells them again for 1m+😂
You gotta admire Welty’s brutal honesty but he’s also the complex version of Skip Bayless almost feels like he’s intentionally divisive when Nike is the topic of discussion funny how the man not invited to the event is one hating on it lol
I like your take about rich people infiltrating the culture from outside, but you have to remember that you, specifically Joe, make these people take up more space in sneaker culture than they deserve. For example why does Dana White have his own Sneaker Shopping episode? He is a greedy rich man trying to get some goodwill through the sneaker culture. He would care about sneakers if it didnt make him money
With all due respect. It seems Welty has no regard/respect for sneaker sub-cultures. He seems to never give respect for the fact that the shoes he “isn’t into” are usually for sports (Basketball, Fball etc) that he isn’t into. I don’t think anyone on the show has personal connection to the aesthetics of basketball shoes (w/ exception of Joe) & it’s wack they don’t acknowledge that. If you ask a sneakerhead that is more into basketball shoes they may have entirely different reverence for certain sneakers vs. someone like Welty. & I feel like these 3 hold a lot of weight in the sneaker culture (obviously) but often seem to overlook the lack of experience/appreciation for certain cuktures represented in sneakers. IMO or maybe I’m just trippin/hating 🤷🏾♂️ Still watching the show every week!
Brando, we both know that its never easy to stand tall in the midst of your failures... that's all it is, the company isn't excited to tell you about how they failed...we should empathize with them you know.. I know you're a journalist so you're justified in your frustration.. just giving my 2 cents for what it's worth.
i agree with matt welty on the ultraboost take. they are impossible to get on and arent comfortable because the upper is so tight. but i did like the ultraboost st which had a detached tongue. those were great. adidas needs to make more ultraboosts with a tongue vs the sock shoe style.
Also please change the signage above JLP with the Youtuve "play" symbol. First its "ok" at best and I'm sure all those full time employees can figure our something more appropriate
Hoopers definitely get excited about new hoop shoes that come out, especially new signatures like Book 1 and Sabrina 1. Performance models just aren't worn casually much anymore so the typical sneakerhead doesn't feel that excitement.
@@nevereasy9501Smoking Nike in what way? If Nike brought back Bowerman Series models from the late 90s/early 2000s they would obliterate New Balance. The Vomero 5 is a prime example of that. And that model is from the early 2010s. Especially if they brought back Alpha Project models. New Balance would be a lost cause.
matt welty gets geed up on another grey nb, yet absolutely trashes the lebron 21? not even his lane and hes speaking up on it? bruh, welty will be back next week with another nb/asics grey/brown sneaker
What's your all-time grail sneaker?
Converse all stars (chuck tailor)
Black Infrared 6s
THE ONES IN THE THUMBNAIL..
Vlone air force 1 low
Concord 11s and kd 4 scoring title
I would happily watch a full episode dedicated to 'Big JLP shoe'
Thank you Welty for calling out the BS! Keep the third eye open.
MY BOYS HAPPY FRIDAY.
Jesus loves you ❤️ please turn to him and repent before it's too late. The end times described in the Bible are already happening in the world.
That’s why people shouldn’t treat sneakers as investments. At the end of the day, they’re just shoes. People buy shoes to wear them, not flip them.
Bros name is now and forever Matt Melty......... love that
Not a Friday without this man ! Kick game properrrrr ! Salomon’s still in my heavy rotation!
Most definitely an interesting conversation as always !
Amazing job, guys !
Dunne is on the SNKRS APP in the background on the Two: Minds friends and family cover page on Street Snkrs. I saw that mustache from a mile away. 😂😂
Good eyes haha
What a great start to my friday! Greetings from Brazil!!!
Welty always has great opinions and statements, but expressing them he always sounds just a little salty to me
lol especially if it's about a nike silhouette
And he takes forever to spit it out
He’s the grumpy old grandpa who complains about everything and starts all his stories with …”back in my day…”
hes very monotone
Welty has made going to the gym his entire personality 😂
Do you even lift bro lol 😂
Jesus loves you ❤️ please turn to him and repent before it's too late. The end times described in the Bible are already happening in the world.
everyone who goes to gym makes it their personality
He has a personality? 🤣
Hes so sad

33:00 Jerry Lorenzo played a big part in the Samba taking over the streets, in my opinion. What do you all think?
I bought the Adidas Supernova Cushion 7 because of Brendan’s ad, so yes, let my boy Brendan advertise the Pro Evo 1’s!
Who else just saw this upload and realized it was Friday ❤
❤

@@L17_8jesus was scam.
Dunne went a little wild with the toner huh?
Another good show💯
Tiffany Dunks gotta a shout-out on the latest ep of The Morning Show!! Big JLP Show!!
I'm surprised people aren't making comparisons of the Balvin 3's to the A Ma 3's.
Love both.
Such a nice guy Math Healthy

Nothing gives Welty more joy than the devaluation of the Yeezy's and the money that was lost by everyone involved. Love JLP and Dunne!!
Great way to start the weekend off with the boys
Love the show guys. I wasn't quick enough to get the acw house blues. The black are fire tho
Big JLP shoes are a double edged sword. Selling out faster and faster with resale getting higher and higher.
Welty wants to come of as “I’m so different cause I don’t like Nike” so bad 🤣
Jordan Gellar of the Shoezeum already tried the sneaker museum thing and he himself started selling them off after confirming the crumbling and difficulty preserving the shoes in his collection
Welty asking if "anybody" cares about the DB 1 and the Lebron 21 is like asking if anybody cares about some spezial.
Love the foot scapes can't wait to get a pair
You guys should bring on Jordan Geller, owner of the Shoezeum.
I’ve come to respect Welty having his opinions outside the norm but sometimes he goes to hard tryna be anti. Mainly anti Nike
Big facts. Looks like he's trying toooooo hard. So hard it's like he doesn't appreciate shoes other than the ones he likes.
Perhaps all three should disclose their interests so we know who's getting paid or sponsored or copping freebies. Problem is they would be conflicted all the time. If they want to be taken seriously as industry commentators then they need to be upfront. But they won't

Dependable Jay got some heat
I think the Book’s 📚 are cool they look simple I dig the all orange. They look like a skate shoe mixed with a Mac Attack
Good day bosses Joe, Brendan, Matt!
Pause on Brendan eating meats with Bronson. Pause on Brendan running up to Pippen in the bathroom.
the slab of meat. LOL....pause.
Jlp becomes a little more out-of-touch every season
I'm here to firmly advocate for Welty and I to receive "MESH BOY SUMMER" bags. 2024 is almost here.
Welty is giving me those old man vibes. Dude tries too hard to not like something. 😂
Come on, Welty!

When we getting that jlp shoe shirt.

Matt Melty
And also the Nike SB boom was pre-pandemic 2019 going into 2020
Idk your relationship with him, but I think the perfect pair would be a good guest
Baggy pants are in. Trav likes baggy. He’s not tryna purposely hide the shoes he just likes the silhouette of his fit

Salomon’s aren’t comfortable at all unless you go a whole size up. Insanely narrow.
I'm not sure man. I got the XT4's and they're pretty comfy with no narrowness (from my person frequent wears).
