    Thanks for watching my Samsung S25 Ultra re-review! I was hoping to be a bit more positive after 12 months, but it's still a slightly disappointing entry in the Ultra range. Everything crossed for the S26 Ultra next month... But what do you reckon? Let us know your own review below xx

      Have you received the Magic OS 10/Android 16 update for the Honor 400 yet? Would appreciate what features you find. I'm found one or two new customisations for the lock & home screens, etc. Not bad! 👍💯
      I was surprised to see Android 16 arrive so soon for it! 🤔

    Tbh after years on iPhones, moving from the 13 Pro Max to the S25 Ultra has been unreal. Still discovering little things I love, like splitting Bluetooth and phone audio by app. Guess it’s less exciting if you’re already used to the Ultra line.

    I've been using it since I recieved my pre-order the last week of January, and it's really good. That being said, it's obviously not the best flagship on the market for tech enthusiasts. I'm very happy with it.

    S25 Ultra 512 GB has been my daily driver since late January and it has been a stellar experience. All said and done between trade-in Samsung pre-order discounts/offers and 3rd party rebates it came in ~$550 USD with tax included.
    At that price I've got zero problems with a few minor shortcomings and occasionally less than stellar photo results!!

    I think there are a few things Samsung phones really need to improve: bigger batteries - maybe some of that silicon-carbon magic, faster charging (at least 65W, come on Samsung!), more competitive pricing compared to the rivals, and honestly… they should stop acting like Apple’s stingy cousin and be a bit more generous for once.

    • @sunflash9
      @sunflash9 4 months ago +21

      Use older component high price increase profit margin, and pump up stock price.. generous in not in samsung DNA, same with apple.

    • @RCVW-y4x
      @RCVW-y4x 4 months ago +14

      The reason the big manufacturers don't use silicone carbon is because the longevity of those batteries rarely carry the device through to the end of the service or warranty life without significant degradation. The technology is simply not ready for scale. The Chinese throw their devices away every 9 months to a year then buy another one. They don't have to worry about devices actually lasting the test of time and therefore embrace thst new chemistry. As to fast charging I just don't see that as being a deal maker. 65 watts in without proper thermal management causes the same battery degradation issues the new battery chemistry would have inherently even without fast charging.

    • @sunflash9
      @sunflash9 4 months ago +20

      @RCVW-y4x Same lies and misinformation samsung use for years, now silicon carbon battery tech reach 3rd and 4th generations. At least apple is more honest, stay quiet and keep low profile, play wait and see. Blame the tech when samsung battery division can't compete.

    I have one myself. But I can't help but feel disappointed that when it came out, it was already outclassed by other Android phones, and we're now here and its outclassed in specs even more now. The long term software support and perhaps the after-purchase services is the only silver lining when it comes to buying a flagship Samsung.

Battery disaster, everything below 50% you cannot count on it, which give us only china good marketing. People IRL will see that is not everything whistles and bells having 7000mah battery.

      @SN_42 that is not nearly as convenient. I mean I'm not saying it can't be a possible workaround but why should I have to make invent inferior workarounds with the newer more expensive phones to solve problems that were solved already by the less expensive older phones?

    • @VonnegutRosewater-yi4rk
      @VonnegutRosewater-yi4rk 4 months ago

      @SN_42not to mention was it 2% of the actual user base of Samsung actually uses Bixby for voice? And I'm not saying that you get rid of it Bixby has some useful features but they shouldn't have got rid of The Bluetooth s pen to begin with. Like you're going to say the Bluetooth on the s pen is too niche but using Bixby for voice commands is not?

    Only thing which is disappointing to me is the battery life. Charging it is fine (rather fast in practice imo). I like the screen and speakers, the most important things for my usage. Last months I have switched to Smart launcher and this works great with the Samsung. If it's worth the word Ultra is a bit irrelevant for me, I bought it when the price was already consideredly lower than in the beginning. Nice phone.

    • @jeffmenace91
      @jeffmenace91 4 months ago +1

      That's my biggest complaint about it, the battery life. On Reddit I had someone tell me he's getting all day battery but I can't comprehend how so he told me what he did with his to get that battery life he's getting.
      As someone like myself who is not a heavy user but rather a moderate user, I could never get the battery life he's claiming.
      I just ended up using my OnePlus 13 instead which actually does get a full day to 2 days of battery life before needing to charge.

    I initially wanted the S25+ but the Ultra was on offer and cheaper than the Plus, so I went for it. I charge battery to 80% and it lasts all day, so I don't think its an issue. Faster charging just wears the battery quicker anyway.

  • @michaelcalderon3644
    @michaelcalderon3644 4 months ago +8

    I have to disagree with him when it comes to cameras. I've tried the pixel 9pto xl, iPhone 16 pro max, OnePlus 13...and the s25 ultra beats them in a lot of categories. It's not the best camera but it's a very dependable one. And the selfies processing is amazing. Battery lasts me all day because s25 ultra is better optimized. But this lead will last only for so long....phones are leaving it in the dust in the battery and charging department

  • @CallMeTeci
    @CallMeTeci 4 months ago +10

    Honestly... Samsung phones are bonkers with all their extra-features that almost noone else has and usually their prices drop pretty well over time. Got an S24U early this year for 600-something bucks in perfect second hand condition.
    And i honestly think that a lot of the "problems" are not really problems for most people. Like I really cant imagine a situation in which it makes a real life difference in capability if you have 45W charging or 120W for example. And Samsungs real pass-through charging can usually offset any issues arising with that anyway (making it one of the best gaming phones on top of that).
    And i honestly like the S25Us body much more than the S24Us, because the 24Us corners suck and the rounded sides are not nice to hold and quite slippery, what isnt really something i like with a phone that expensive. (considering they are almost the same, i thought about getting an official S25U replacement screen+body kit and smack my S24U internals in there, but there are fine differences that make that too risky for my taste. ;D
    Anyway... 5'000mAh is not enough. Even tho i really dont know what people are doing, that they worry about their batteries, but my S24U holds up for two days, keeping it between 20% and 80%. On a full charge, its a guaranteed two-day phone for me.
    Even in terms of the chip, the Elite ones still have lacking driver support for demanding emulation and cant be recommended in that departement either. And when we get those, the Gen5 chip will likely be a better choice.
    One of the biggest pros must be their update-policy tho, because its one of the few companies where "7 years of updates" likely wont turn into anual patches after the first three years. And GoodLock is a game-changer for me.
    Depending on how many of their features people use, its one of the cases where you know what you had, when its not there anymore. xD (Its just kinda sad that most of them never get mentioned in Reviews or when videos fill their screens with the "big number bukake" when they compare phones)
    My biggest gripe with the Ultras is probably the fact that they dont have an SD-card slot. If their Ultra-Tablets have one, then why not the phones too? (yes, money of course, but still!)

    Coming from the S22 Ultra and the S10+ before that, and this phone manages the battery better than both. I go an entire day without having to charge sometimes, but most times I only charge once per day. On my S22 Ultra I was charging 3x/day sometimes unfortunately, and while my S10+ was better than my S22 Ultra on battery, it woudn't last all day.

    Funny how size is measured in imperial units yet weight is measured in metric units - so the S25 Ultra weighs just over 7 ounces, eh? 🙂

    I have been using the 25 Ultra for 3 months so far coming from 24 Ultra and I can tell the screen is improved as I had grainy one on the 24 Ultra and design is more gentle on my body with the curve edges. My hopes for 26 Ultra and onwards is that Samsung would invest in better haptic engine(which will never happen) and improves the camera department. I am not brave enough to dream of any faster charging for the next 50 years with Samsung lol
    I otherwise love my phone. Oh and last thing I hope for are to be able to have new notifications on lock screen which arrived after we locked the phone instead of having everything together at all times! New and old notifications to be treated like on OnePlus and iPhone

    I've had this phone since launch and it's been an awesome experience. Had the 16 pro and the camera always blurred and the software was meh. To each their own but I love this phone. It's been a solid performer

      What do u use it for? Scrolling tiktok only?
      S25 Ultra has fuked up mic and s-pen with no connectivity to phone. A huge step back fro S24

    The biggest complaint I have so far is the 8 bit display, some gradients are genuinely horrendous.

      LOL you must have eagle eyes because 99 percent of humans can't perceive the difference between 8 plus FRC and 10 bit unless there side by side.

    @TechSpurt Hi uncle Spurt! Idea for a recurring series: Take one or more of the most famous (or best selling) midrange/entry smartphones every year that are promised to get X years of OS updates and check them once every year until the EOL. I’m curious how, let’s say, a Samsung Galaxy A35 performs in 2028.

    In May this year I went for the Oppo Find X 8 Pro, which was December 2024's top phone at that time, so The Samsung S 25 Ultra, didn't make that top spot then, so I'm happy I didn't go for that Samsung.

    Imagine all the other devices that you claim to surpass it are using 2026 technology and chip. They are suppose to pass it because they were released at the end of the year. As an average user who have never had an issue with the battery life. More is always good. Same with the camera etc. As a 2025 phone that has been out since January. It is pretty great device.

    10bit display.
    Better vibration.
    Better battery.
    Better zoom and main camera.
    Better charging.
    *only thing that don't need change is performance and software.

      Yeah I can't stress enough how terrible the haptic is on the S25 Ultra, when I first felt it I was confused, because my previous Z flip 6 had better feeling haptic than that, Samsung really cheaped out with the S25 line.

    I can't thank you enough for this video, because I almost went for the S25U, and photography is my priority. Your camera tests are the real world tests, they include moving subjects. And it turns out Samsung is ridiculously bad with motion blur, even with the slightest subject motion. All other reviewers take static or even tripod shots for the tests which effectively hides this very nasty problem.

    I have the s24 ultra and with a rounded case it's not bad but can be cumbersome. The s25 ultra is even easier to hold. That's the only reason i wanted to upgrade but even with my s24 ultra trade in it was too expensive. I think my jade green s24 ultra with 512gb is still holding strong.

    Still using an S20 Ultra which has served me very well, the S24 Ultra is now around £500 in good condition refurbed - at this price point, is it worth looking at as a phone now in 2026, or are are there better alternatives for this sort of outlay?
