This was really unpretentious, and cool to watch and listen. Two guys with a very high emotional intelligence IQ. John’s level of self awareness blows my mind. I can’t help but feel like he’s lonely, yet somewhat ok with it. I admire that.
I have only known David Ryan Harris with John Mayer's band. I assumed he was really good because John has surrounded himself with great people. This makes me want to check out what he does outside of Mayer. Great conversation guys...two highly intelligent people talking about emotions, relationships, the creative process, and loving what they do. David...please contact John again soon and continue this conversation. God bless you both!
John, That's why your feeling the way you do. If you have someone you love, can share the same experience, you have plenty of things to say about the experience of being isolated but that also still speak emotionally about the poetry of life that has nothing to do with the shutdown.
gotta love all these Coronavirus live streams where you really see the inside of celebreties homes and how they live. private postal workers who specially deliver their packages... smh Mayer.
As someone with two degrees in composition and rhetoric in addition to being a fan of John Mayer’s music, I thought the most interesting part of this interview is the perception that your art is no longer your own once released to the public. I’ve taken entire courses devoted to the ownership of the author, and how it is relinquished immediately upon the deliverance of said work to the world. It is now not what you intended it to be, but what the audience interprets. I often wonder if this is stifling to artists who have such a clear vision of a song. Wish I could pick his brain on this and things of the like! Interesting interview.
Like a lot of us i imagine ? I discovered David Ryan Harris through John Mayer, wow ! Surely one of the best singers around and no slouch on guitar,,,the Prince " beautiful ones" intro to Slow dancing was amazing ! Great chat with not too much US smaltz, and not too much of that ending a sentance with an upward, question asking tone, you know what I mean ?
Hope you guys are both staying safe and well. It’s great to see 2 genuine musical buddies having a chat. David Ryan Harris, I miss hugging too and going to restaurants. Can identify with you both

I just realized John's wit and optimism are my favorite traits. Great advice on how to Cary one's self in a creative life. Very similar to the message we try to offer educators at Collaboration Nation, my nonprofit. #Johnmayer please Call into #HowardStern on Monday with #Andycohen and explain your intent
Haha My kid’s dad can’t grow a beard. It’s patchy all over. I’m self conscious of my double chin. Lol. I stopped drinking in 2001 then started again in 2009 after my separation then stopped in 2010. I went to a rebab, AA & NA. Congrats to you both!
Did they just compare CoViD to the Black Plague? They should have paid a little more attention in school, the Black Plague killed between 75 and 200 million people. World population at that time was around 360 million. That’s up to a 50% survival rate, CoViD is 99% survival rate. Other than that it was an ok video.
@@TheEdge2002 I think they actually met during John's early days in Athens, GA. Im prerty sure David has been touring with John since 2003. So not quite 30 years but nearly 20 years or so.

I want more of these conversations!! Really made me think about lots of things!
Two of my favorite artists in one bundle; thanks for the upload!
John Mayer talks about nothing so well. 😂
lol, so true. It's amazing how he can just go on and on and somehow it's still weirdly entertaining. Cracks me up.
Right?! He's so random 😆😆
I love both of these guys.....so easy to listen to.

the call with Kim, his "postal person", and his explanation afterwards is Mayer Gold. :-D

"As soon as you go here, it's straight to hell. " LOLOL!
Let's get these guys a podcast!
Love the "patience pants" analogy 😂
Wait, is Born and Raised not a popular record? I loved it from the off.
Jeremy Kee it’s popular to bigger John Mayer fans but to the normal people, it’s not huge
Justin Cummins That’s incredibly true. Born and Raised is a masterpiece from beginning to end.
It’s really hard for me to imagine having a normal conversation with JM and not totally losing my shit
26:42 is a true spill. Thanks John thanks David
Come over John Mayer
How many times you guys watch the crossroad and your thought. 🎸
Spoon feed us more of this - antivirus awesomeness 👏
John talks about fonts way too much and I love it so much

I stopped too. Life can be good without it.

Love you guys !!!!!
I’m almost just like David when I get upset I blame myself or what he made more sense I internalize myself.
No one will want to "encapsulate this year in a song".
Namaste
Ian London yea but John will write during this time I would assume about this horrible time.
Strange watching the pandemic talk, knowing what we know now.
@ 3:30 I can't stop laughing ☠️😶☠️
Is John wearing a g-shock?
Ya... I think it might be some variant of the mudman
@@butters1822 ...exactly that i thought...impressive he wears it next to a 200k$ A.P.-s...or Rolexs
Yeah man a mudmaster
John....keep the beard man...looks cool.

Superman and Batman
Even men as beautiful as John Mayer and DRH have insecurities
