what a collection! im the exact same when buying cards im so thorough when checking conditions of cards especially when im buying cards that are listed as mint-near mint i generally do want them to be yknow- mint? i think the people that say you're being overly strict havent personally experienced what its like to buy a mint listed card only to see it in person and find it has scuffs or edge ware, it might not be alot to some people but everything counts especially on expensive cards like those
In my experience it happens most often when buying older cards on TCGPlayer. Had to get some money back quite a few times while building my goat deck, so be sure to check conditions when you get your cards in the mail guys!
MFC Dark Magician Girl 1st Ed, that already makes me think this collection is EPIC. That's my favorite one for sure, but man what a binder. What. A. Binder! Crazy collection for sure, congrats on getting it! Some beautiful ultis, ghosts, and some nice rarities for sure. And that 10K Dragon is crazy good looking!
That magic formula looks like it has been through a few potion cauldrons. CED, ancient gear golem and number 107 were my personal favs from the collection. Gotta look at all those backs before deciding the value
My favorite by far is the Platinum Blue Eyes White Dragon. I've never had anything that cool from Yu-Gi-Oh before. I've been looking for that one perfect thing to remind me of the days I spent playing Yu-Gi-Oh and THAT would be the one. None of the other cards compare
That looks like the exact Magic Formula I sold on ebay about a year ago. Looked decent on the front and significantly scuffed on the back. 1st ed English. Curious. I had it listed Mod Played though. Frustrating that you were expecting NM on that one.
I own a playset of Blackwing Armed Wings and they all have that weird space after Blackwing. I guess someone at the factory pushed the spacebar one too many times lol I wouldn't worry about commenters calling you a harsh grader or anything. I personally agree with you everytime you evaluate card conditions, and at the very least it's consistent regardless of whether you're buying or selling.

For the binder I’m not entirely sure how much you should pay, but considering you said that the owner said near mint I’m guessing you spent around 15k maybe. How much you should have spent? I would have to estimate about 4-5k maybe the rare cards were pretty scuffed few in very good condition
Will how scuffed those near mint cards are, you might have to spend some time in that binder actually checking bc I feel like there can be a massive swing in value if you have a ton of scuffed backs. My fav was the rose dragon at the end. Always a gorgeous card.
I could tell from the start that the first page was too good to be true. I always feel like cards in binders just take so much scratching from either dust or small dirt particles. Thats why graders seal the cards up and don't send you a bunch of PSA graded cards back in a binder :)
I agree I'm very picky about conditioning I want all my cards to be near mint when I buy singles from shops I do ask if they can lower prices due to damage

i have a real question, why some cards was not perfect if they were sealed in a closed official pack? this packs are made from other collectors? not from konami? i really dont get how a card can be damaged if it was on a sealed pack. Love the oppening pack videos!
Wow that collection is absolutely beautiful, so many amazing cards. I have never seen or heard of that Blue-Eyes card and I have to say that it is definitely my favorite from the collection. Although Dark Magician is my favorite theme, I am a sucker for any of SDK art Blue-Eyes cards and especially special ones like that. Now if we didn’t count that card in it then it would probably be the Magicians Unite card as I remember having it when I was younger and loved the champion, tournament, etc. pack cards. And to those saying that you are stingy or rude or whatever when it comes to “grading” cards you are going to buy. Uhh why wouldn’t you make sure a card is the quality someone is claiming it is. There are huge price differences between condition of card and maybe the people saying stuff are dumb enough to pay mint condition price for a card that is actually moderately played but some people have a brain and like to spend money wisely lol.
Cool collections, the conditions are a bit iffy here, definitely need to check more of the money cards, but I'd say its around 4k, give or take a thousand. 10k dragon alone is worth over 1k and I think the rest of the money cards are around 2k given their conditions

Near mint to even lightly played can make a huge difference on those big cards for sure!

Best cards for sure: E-Hero Aqua Neos, Neos Fusion, E-Hero Gaia and E-Hero Plasma Vice because E-Heroes are the best
fav card is def the formula. Graded one a 9 a couple years ago. Card was immaculate, but ever so slightly off centered
