  • I recently picked up the DeWalt DCLE 34030GB green laser level (3 lines x 360 degrees) and I am having a blast with it! I really appreciate that it takes my 20V batteries (up to the 5aH) so I will never scramble for AA or AAA batteries like with other laser levels I have owned.
In this video I am showing the various uses I had for this level on night on the job as I was roughing in electrical.
Currently, as a teacher, I am "part-time" with my company as my partner and another guy we hired work days. So I am 2nd shift starting around 6pm and working until 8 or 9pm depending on the list.
    We all work Saturday together.

Just bought the kit without the battery and charger. It's 444$ on Amazon right now. Also picked up the green line sensor. For outdoor use.

Thanks for commenting Dan! Congrats on the purchase! I still have a really good time with this level and am really glad I made that purchase. To have the ability to run my existing 20V batteries and know I will always have a charged one around and not be scrambling for double AAs is a piece of mind I like. I typically run 2ah since it keeps the weight down but I think up to 5ah will fit. I can run a 2ah almost all day. I can't remember if I got a kit with battery and charger or not but it came with the new toughcase and kizan foam insert with spaces cut out for them so if it didn't come with it, I must have grabbed one of my extra chargers and a battery and dedicated them to the tool. I still use my AA battery dewalt red laser too and now have it on a small counter top sized tripod.

Thanks for the question! It should work just fine and I have used it to create vertical-horizontal lines to hang pictures. However------you will need a way to support it high enough to get horizontal lines (bottom of picture or top of picture) if you want them to help with "leveling" or aligning pictures. Vertical lines are no problem just setting the level down the step.
I have both a multisection pole with a bracket to mount the level and I have a tripod. Both work fine for something like picture hanging. Good luck and let me know how it turns out for you. I really like this level (but will confess that it is heavy and bulky). Having the 20V batteries already and knowing I will never not have a charged battery for this level is worth it to me.

Have you tried the magnetic mount, instead of the tripod? I've been looking at this one, and the 12 volt version for my next laser purchase. Wondering if the extra length of the 20v version makes it sag and or wobble. I know the laser is self leveling, but how rigid is the bracket?

Hi Chuck. Thanks for checking out the video and for commenting. I have used the magnetic wall mount and like it. I am doing work on my own house (a 18x18 2-story addition) and will be using the wall mag mount tomorrow for lining up headers. I have the floor to ceiling dewalt pole and it comes with a bracket. I would prefer a micro-adjust on the bracket but it is pretty simple, with just a tightening screw for a friction fit around the pole. I have not experienced any sag with the magnet mount or the pole mount (or my tripod either.) The length is not a big deal.
At that same time I bought a dewalt tripod for this laser and I can say that I DO NOT like this tripod. The legs have clip friction locks that do not hold under down pressure (legs start to slide back into themselves) and the tripod head is wobbly. If I run my small dewalt red laser, the tripod is okay since it weighs less but it not great (it works but...) for the big green.
I do not have the 12V system but have just purchased an impact and a drill and three 12V batteries on the advice of a contractor friend. The impact is not as small as I imagined but the drill is tiny. I can see these getting a lot of work with cabinet installs. Now that I am going in that direction, maybe the 12V laser might be an option that has a smaller footprint and weight.
..... but I do like this 20V green laser level. (It is bulky, true.) But.....I like the fact that I always (ALWAYS) will have batteries for the laser level unlike my red one that used AAA's and have had them discharge a couple times on me and then I was without a laser level for the day.
I should look for another tripod and will at some point. Pole is cool but is not an every time go to for me. The wall mount magnet works well. (to answer your original question.)
Hope that helps. Feel free to ask more questions. Best of luck with the purchase.

I am running furring strips on my ceiling in my garage. I measured out 24 inches from each end of the room. I just want a straight line to judge where to screw in the furring strip. I can get the laser to line up with both points. Please halp

I have run into the problem of using the laser line to line up between two points. I was able to manage it with the laser very close to one point/mark and then taking time to adjust it to get both points on the laser line. A bit frustrating if you re trying to be quick and snapping a chalk line is certainly an option but I like the laser line and am willing to take the time when I have it or when chalk is a problem around finished work. Gook luck and thanks for commenting!
