Heyy Good Evening enthusiast its corey from the live stream the other night! And I just want to say that I have always loved Chicken Chicken since I was a kid because man it was THE VERY FIRST GOOSEBUMPS BOOK I ever seen in second grade around 2005ish and it started it all for me. And Egg Monsters From Mars was my sister's favorite Goosebumps Book and I read it about 3 times in my life and I like it decently its in my top 10 on the lower end though and I haven't read Dummy 3 or Haunted Mask 2 but, I am sure they are great man. Me I freakin love every Goosebumps Book I have ever read both good or bad I just try to see past all of the bad parts and love the book as a whole from whats left after the bad things lol!
Glad to see The Horror at Camp Jellyjam was mentioned, I have been seeing on Reddit over the years a huge influx of people mentioning that book in their top 5 lists. Further, I thought it was interesting how deep of a run it made in the Bracket Fights threads on Reddit, I believe it was bested in a Final 8 decider by Shocker on Shock Street.
BloggerBeware being brought up early on was nice to hear lol. To add onto what got said:
Troy's reasons for hating Chicken Chicken were due to taking the moral too seriously and calling it morally ugly and "112 pages of child abuse".
Egg Monsters used to be a bandwagon book in the opposite direction, Blogger beware had it as one of the worst and poparena noted he saw it was a commonly disliked book and was surprised that it was actually alright. So maybe Dummies helped it swing the other way.
Jellyjam was disliked by Blogger Beware so it was seen as one of the not good ones although it didn't spread too far, but it did make me see it that way until it got good reception down the line. It was seen as iconic on a fan level, it got a Graphix version after all. On top of Bjorn, poparena and especially goosebuds liked it and since they are more critical of Goosebumps, that really made the love for it grow. Hell any books poparena likes tend to be the bandwagon treatment lol
