Been watching for a while. Got a 1996 s420 117k miles. drivers seat bottoms out every time i sit down, drivers mirror is hanging on by a thread and my rear headrests don't come back up. Needs a paint touch up. But its mine and I love it, Best car ive ever owned or driven. Parts Are just very pricey and somewhat hard to come by locally. {EDIT Also my glovebox is Fked too. never been in it. i assume the cable disconnected from the key/button.}
Hi Pete, I'm surprised about your struggles with fitting/fixing the front bumper, did you know by design it should slide from the sides on a track hugging it from upper and lower of the sides? And screwed to the black plastic fender linning one on left ome on right side of the bumper? The screws don't really hold it but the sliding locks it to the car.. unless those slides are broken?
Yes sir and since owning about 7 between parts and driver cars, now keep in mind I only buy cars that need fully restored, but not one of them wasn’t broken. I got slightly lucky on a parts car I bought that didn’t seem broken until I mounted it on my current car and sure enough the small crack became a full broken piece before I could get it on. But yes from factory and one well taken care of should hold. My issue is they used plastic brackets to mount it and they were riveted to the bumper and car. This makes it hard to make any modifications to the bracket in the case of them breaking.
